1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: What to do? on: January 15, 2021, 10:22:24 am
2021 marks my 60th year of being a NTFC fan, I've been a STH for well over half of those 60 years. This is not the worst Cobblers team I've seen, BUT, it is the least entertaining team. The post administration teams of Phil Chard/John Barnwell obviously lacked good players but they all gave it 100% and did try to play football. This season I log on with a little bit of hope, wait until the team is announced to see if Sheehan is playing, if he is we have a chance, if not I might as well go back to watching Jeff Stelling, at least that's entertaining.
But even if Sheehan is playing and we look like we might get a point or 3, the last half hour of the games are painful, you just know we will sit back and get battered, just hoping the opposition are not good enough to finish their chances and we get lucky somehow. You just sit there thinking "they are going to score in a minute" and unfortunately, they usually do.
I don't buy this "We only have a small budget so we cant expect decent football", last weekend I watched Chorley and Marine play some decent football against better opposition then we normally face and earlier this season, Oxford City played us off the park. All three of these clubs would have a fraction of our budget. We also have the likes of Rochdale and Accrington in our division who play great football on a much smaller budget than ours.
Which brings me on to the big question, do I renew my ST for next season? I'll be honest, the ifollow has been better than I thought it would be, apart from the odd game. Paying for a ST but only getting the same as someone who spends less on ifollow ? I can handle this as I have a decent pension and NTFC has been a really big part of my life for 60 years
I was at the Exeter Rooms meeting, I've sponsored players and I was involved with all the meetings with NBC before KT bought the club and, if I didn't renew, I would think I have let NTFC down, because if I don't renew there will be lots of people with less commitment not renewing, and that puts the future of NTFC in jeopardy. So do I just carry on with the "blind loyalty" ? With the lockdown as it is, football should be one of the things to look forward to, but it's very difficult to look forward to any NTFC game at the moment.
I've thought long and hard about this, but as it stands, we will get relegated playing this non football on a pitch deliberately churned up and it's killing my love of NTFC and I doubt that I'm the only one.
I know NTFC read this forum so I would be interested to hear what KT REALLY thinks about the "entertainment" on offer because he's the one it will effect at the end of the season.

One of the best postings on here for a long long time, 40 yrs season ticket holder, but..........who knows for now.

This might actually be to our advantage, Scunny have Chelts Swindon & FGR coming up in the next few weeks, added to a new manager bounce they might take some points from teams that could be chasing us and will need KVV to be in their team.

More than happy that we at last have a player that is willing to take it to the opposition the way we have been got at over quite a  few years. It might be close to the line but it works and thats fine for me. We have been complaining for too long now that we have been a soft touch in game management, for now thats fixed, you'll all miss it when Charlie surely goes elsewhere. Enjoy him while you can.

Those that were at Salford on Saturday.....do you think we need a Thomas-Asante type player?

Take away the diving and deliberate handball, there was expectation and excitement not to mention danger every time he got the ball. He can (or players like him) make things happen. Someone with genuine pace and a half decent football brain bursting through the middle....

We thought he was great in the first half, right pain in the arse to us, he hardly got the ball in the second, I think he is the player we were hoping Junior Morias was going to be.

Derby and Birmingham are another two we've not played for a while.

Derby away would be interesting, possibly Rooneys first game for the Rams?

8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Squad Numbers 2019/20 on: July 26, 2019, 12:24:34 pm
Matters not a jot when the manager (any team/division) constantly tinkers with the team anyway, don't know why its of note in these days off squad rotation and endless strange formations, might as well be A to Z. The only time numbers come into play now is when the subs boards go up.

Been a good day at Sixfields then, well done to KC & KT for getting it done early for once, I might even go to a pre season match or two for the first time in years.

13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NEWS: Retained List- Buchanan, Foley, Bowditch, Bridge and Facey all out on: May 06, 2019, 16:24:54 pm
Powell will probably accept the new contract, cant see a mass of clubs wanting to sign him from us, just said to my mates he must be Curles love child.

Quote from KC,
"It has probably irked some of the players that they have been in at 9am every day this week and working long hours"
FFS, just wait until the precious little angels have to get a real job
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Frank Grande on: March 22, 2019, 11:38:35 am

16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Season Ticket Prices Frozen Again on: March 09, 2019, 10:44:22 am
Well they could hardly increased ST prices with us unable to crawl out of the bottom division, still with zero improvements or plans for infrastructure improvements.
If Thomas is still there next season, being his secretive  and blame proportioning best,  my position on the bank will be free.

Good, stay away, well away, and please add this board to your monotonous stance.
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January Window - Rumours, Ins and Outs on: January 15, 2019, 11:24:58 am
They are pretty damming statistics.

says it all really, should not have been brought back into the team so quickly, i still think he is a bad influence on the morale of the younger players.
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bristol Rovers (H) EFL Trophy (R3) 8/1 on: January 07, 2019, 15:31:19 pm
This might sway some of you deciding to go;  Mr Breakspear is the ref !
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January Window - Rumours, Ins and Outs on: January 04, 2019, 14:25:11 pm
I should think the fact we are allowing to Joey out for another month suggests we have a forward lined up to come in

Or it could mean the KC doesnt see him featuring in the 1st team soon.
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Relegated Sides: Current League Positions on: January 02, 2019, 15:24:13 pm
I don't think Curle has done himself any favours with the number of changes made from game to game though, and from such a promising start.
We had a settled defence with Turnbull and Pierre in the middle and weren't conceding many. They kept it simple (were told to) and it worked. Why change a foundation that's working?

Agree with this, should have left the defence alone as they were looking pretty solid for a few games, nothing against Taylor as such (he had a decent game yesterday) but we have shipped goals since his return to the team. KC should have worked on trying to improve the feed to the front boys and their finishing.
