1  General Category / General Chat / Re: The Hotel End Biker Club on: February 13, 2018, 13:57:17 pm
Have had many bikes since the 70's, i did have a Honda Goldwing until June 2017, hence the tag name, traded in and now and ride a BMW K1600. Perhaps us Cobblers fans with bikes should get together and have a ride out to an away game sometime.  Smiley

Paul Harsley replaces him on a temporary basis. Rated him as a player!

Cobblers player of the year 2003
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale on: February 04, 2018, 11:48:57 am
Crooks is a bit of an enigma, wins the ball well and runs well with it, somehow he seems to end up in a cul-de-sac and gets bewildered with what he is going to do with it, too many passes go astray and gets caught in possession too often.
There is a good player in there, it might just be a confidence thing.
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Our home kit on: February 02, 2018, 11:32:51 am
I've been advocating a return to a white home kit for years. White shirt claret shorts. Class !!!

End of !!

Just reverse it for the away kit. Quite simple really.

Totally agree, used to love the white tops and claret shorts late seventies early eighties style. Would look great under the flloodlights as well.

Of course he is. He's got teeth like a horse

I like ugly defenders, there not afraid to get stuck in and put their head in where it hurts.
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Richards Leaves on: January 15, 2018, 19:16:13 pm
Not that many of his generation would have shown the loyalty to a club than he did two seasons ago, some great memories of Rico hitting the net for us in his two stints, a modern Legend.
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Jordan Turnbull on: January 10, 2018, 19:15:58 pm
We released Rod, that didnít make him a bad player just not what our manager at the time wanted. Maybe itís as simple as the fact their current manager didnít sign him and prefers his own signings. Maybe they decided they wanted rid at the end of last season due to his wages?

Iíd be wary of reviews from Cov fans, he played for them during what was the low point in most of their fans life time, I doubt they have much good to say about most of their side last year. As has been said he was Swindonís player of the year in league one so there must be something there.

As ever with any signing you will find good and bad reviews, why a number of people seem so desperate to write off every player, even before weíve signed them is beyond me.

Wasnt Kassim also one of Swindons former players of the year? Just asking.
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Fun on: December 27, 2017, 13:40:00 pm
Its been apparent for ages that they don't have the desire for it. Theres clearly factions within the squad that are against the management, and that team spirit isn't great. The squad is too big, thats the first point. The 2nd point is that they think they are far better than they are.

After the Bury game (0-0) I heard Grimes being interviewed, claiming that they had played well. I found that very concerning. You've then got Long last week doing the shush thing to the fans after he scored in the Walsall match. You've got Taylor having a go at the fans at Oldham, Buchs getting into arguments after a game with fans in the West stand. They all think they are the dogs bollox, Im telling ya!

They seem to be looking for excuses, looking for distractions to take away the onus being on them. Individually its not a problem, can easily be put down to 'passion'. But its a repeating feature this season, can't remember a season like it to be fair in that regard. They are a real 'touchy bunch'!

Like I say, the numbers need to be brought down to a more manageable level very quickly. Bad eggs need to be moved on. JFH needs to be supported financially to enable him to do the recruitment/sales, but if he doesn't create a much more positive environment from it then we are doomed. Collectively there is a real attitude problem in the squad!

i think thats a fair appraisal, they even looked disinterested in the pre match warm up, the performance was probably worse than the effort at Plymouth. I'm off to Portsmouth, but only because I don't like letting mates down when we've already made the arrangements to go, however, I think this could be my last away trip of the season, just cant justify the time, the money or the heartache anymore.

I'll ask again, what would entice any half decent player to come to NTFC in January?
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Out of Contract Summer 2018 on: December 01, 2017, 15:00:06 pm
I was trying to think on the coach back from Plymouth what would induce these players of such high calibre to come to our club, could it be the cosmopolitan/bohemian and attractive town itself, or perhaps the exciting and progressive style of the club with its electrifying atmosphere every home game and the endless opportunities to progress their own careers here?.
In truth it must be hard to entice many players to come here, we've attracted a few decent ones over the years but we do seem to be a club mainly made up of journeymen who are happy to be earning a wage at this level. We are all waiting in hope for the big money owner or the next mercurial manager to arrive and take us on another fantastic journey, be great if it is JFH though.
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Saints U21's (H) Checkatrade 7/11 on: November 07, 2017, 11:45:20 am

Agree with these sentiments, would have gone tonight if we were playing a"real" team, will just settle for listening in on RN instead, will go to any other games in this comp as long as they are not U21's from big clubs.
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Who should I support if there was no NTFC? on: October 17, 2017, 16:34:48 pm
Kettering , with the hope they continue to climb, if not, Sileby are a few minutes walk from home and I would have to pass/ go into/  the Lumbertubs there and back.
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale away- 17/10/17 on: October 17, 2017, 16:29:11 pm

15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: McWilliams. on: September 13, 2017, 12:29:48 pm
Thought that their bloke should have been carded for that tackle. We missed him big time 2nd half.A

Ref was looking at it as well, was it Kennedy? left his foot in a few times last night catching our players late.
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: McWilliams. on: September 13, 2017, 11:37:14 am
Thats a relief, looked really bad when he went down, look forward to seeing him back in a few weeks, he really is a good prospect for us.

"Gillingham have no sort of away form at present."

Neither did Vale 'til last night.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: EFL "Checkatrade" Trophy on: March 29, 2017, 11:27:21 am
Are teams obliged to enter this competition?. Am I right in thinking that Derby County forgot to send in their entry forms for the FA Cup some years back and were excluded from the competition, perhaps our entry could be lost in the post (or the ether if it's an "e" form)
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rumour - Matt Taylors wage on: March 15, 2017, 15:05:14 pm
I don't give a **** what he's earning, his last two goals could prove to be priceless.
