Cornell is receiving lots of criticism (as always). But the new keeper (Ward) has a hand injury, Goff is on loan and Coddington was on the bench.
We have a new goalkeeping coach that watch these goalkeepers everyday in training, they clearly feel at this point Cornell deserves a chance, how about just getting behind him for a change.
Literally!

Cornell obviously at fault for the first arguably the second also. Neither goal was anywhere near the posts in fact the first he managed todive out of the way. We win 2-0 with either Ingram or O Donnell in goal. I’ve never seen a keeper beaten with such regularity from 20 yds plus. Whilst he plays we’re going nowhere

The times I've had to endure Grimes sufficed for me. I do. The times I had to endure Grimes in possession when our wingers or full backs shied away from the ball was absolutely shocking. We really miss Facey and his comfort in possession. The poor possession and lack of shots shouldn't be aimed at the 2 defensive midfield positions, but O'Toole, Powell and Hoskins. I'm also surprised we had as much possession as you're saying we had!
Hoskins offers protection, but looks incapable of creating anything at present. Powell's off the ball running is some of the worst I have seen, giving absolutely no option to pass to him time and time again.
We lost comfortably today, but I think goalkeeper, central midfield and even striker came out of the game with a little credit. Bunney and Moloney were my personal main culprits.
Didn't think we'd be missing Pierre this much as well.

So....we didn't lose central midfield today 😂😂. You do realise we had 2 shots and 3 corners along with 40 % possession in a home game. I thought Grimes and Hilda were going to be a disaster in central midfield... somehow, I thought they were of a few who came out of the game with any credit today. We didn't lose the central midfield at all, but unfortunately were run ragged down the flanks today.
Bunney, Moloney, Hoskins, O'Toole and Taylor were all poor today (I feel this is judging O'Toole and Taylor against their usual higher standards). The problem with O'Toole playing in this 'no. 10' role, is when he's out the game, he's completely ineffective. I felt Van Veen also looked like he's still injured when he came on.
What pained me today, was how useless one of Rotherhams defender looked... and we just didn't have it in us to punish him for it. That, and comparing Crooks' sending off last week, and Rotherham's 11 men on the pitch this week.
Only real positive, was being at the game and didn't have to listen to that James on the radio. I want to put a sock in his mouth every time he opens his mouth.
Going forward, I'd want a 4-4-2 at home, with 4-4-1-1 as our away formation.

Sums our fans up. Blame Grimes for Taylor launching the ball forward. I hate the communal groan you hear at Sixfields when a player dares to pass the ball backwards in an attempt at keeping possessions.
GET IT FOOOOORWARD!
If Grimes is unable to pick a pass which is evident by his repeatedly passsing to Taylor - what is he there for ?? - he doesnt repossess ; he doesnt screen ; he hasnt got a trick ; he doesnt beat anyone ; he doesnt drive into oppositions box ; What does he do .. shovelfoots freekicks and corners into the first man..."hits broadbrush areas" with deadballs which Im sure the majority of the other midfields could do anyway.

I think that’s true , Grimes would thrive more with McWilliams next to him screening the back 4. Grimes and crooks are asked to do a lot in this team whist the wide players coast - particularly if your name is Powell who pretends to defend and hardly ever causes problems going forward .
I repeat - Grimes had a chance with Otoole doing the donkey work for him against Gillingham and was once again woeful. He repeatedly offers nothing in all required aspects of the position he occupies. The longer it takes those in office to realise this the greater the chance of relegation. How about Foley actually gets the chance to play in the position he has played in for the vast majority of his career just in from the of the back 4 - in fact the 1 position JFH has never played him in

Grimes is a really good player in my opinion, just needs a bit more confidence and benefits from having someone with more physicality alongside him to break up play/drive the team forwards.
He's also on 9 yellow cards.
O’Toole played next to him last night he’s the best in the business at both of these things yet Grimes was still mining

Did you miss last night? If so, he picked out Taylor for our only goal of the game.
Ok fair play I would argue he didn’t pick him out more miss the first man for the first time in an eternity. Nothing McWilliams or Foley couldn’t do and they can tackle

We have absolutely got to get McWilliams in the centre of midfield. We can't rely on Grimes being a centre midfielder as he doesn't offer enough battling work. Yes he can pick a pass and has a bit of skill but he needs to be freed up and allowed to play.
Can he ?? I can’t remember the last incisive pass he made .. he has a genuine vision when kicking for touch however

I had some some friends come and watch today, the first thing they noticed was you have no midfield. Looking back at the game they were right for the first half, but 2nd we improved and could have got a point if we pushed harder. We missed crooks in there I know he is not everyone’s favourite but he is a solid player and prob does more than most of us notice. Long only works as a loan man if someone is playing just behind him, it looks like the gills did there homework and forced us to play jjot deeper. Ayribi deserves a start after yesterday, Berto looked like a game winner in the advanced role, moved him to the right wing and he was shocking, again gills did there homework they kicked all over the place and then wound him up. Also JFH fair enough if there are injuries you change but we seem to be constantly swapping and changing which does nothing for consistency
Said this repeatedly Grimes ( the undroppable one who has never been subbed)is the problem - someone else mentioned he's only a booking or 2 away from a ban so fingers crossed - that could be a major positive turning point.

Second half was fine. Good substitutions made.
Presume you are referring to them not us? Aryibi repeatedly skinned their full back ball...ball goes out of play ..he gets moved to left midfield ..utter chaos

For me, Foley was our best outfield player, 100% effort. the only one that did
Foley needs to play where Grimes currents walks around. Grimes has had enough chances and needs to be told to do one.
