Been thinking of a new song for our hopefully long time to come defence. To the tune of The Archies "Sugar Sugar!...

Turnbull

Bunney

Richard O'Donnell

Ash Taylor and Shay Facey

Weíre so happy to see you

Dropping the der der der and adding the last line would work to the tune of Edelweiss?

Who wears short shorts
Boris wears short shorts
They're such short shorts
We like short shorts
Who wears short shorts

This obsession with lederhosen is concerning?

I could ask 78 for a bit of his cake and maybe offer him a sip of my Ovaltine in return. I am not sure the long cardy is for me unless I compliment it with some dark sunglasses and tip top martial arts skills like the lad in your image thingy. However I might then pull a thigh muscle and then need a deep tissue massage....anyone able to help if this should happen?
For some reason Frank I always assumed you wore lederhosen. If so perhaps you could pull your socks up a bit? Might ruin the look, but choosing form over function especially at the expense of vanity would be a wise move? Also the Germans do a lot of thigh slapping when wearing this gear, perhaps that would help the warming process?

Why do cobblers fans always think the worst?

What happens if?

What happens if the sky falls in?
What happens if we are three nil up and the four horsemen of the apocalypse show up?
What happens if they fix the part of road that the puddle forms in?

Miserable feckers.
What if the bloke next to you sh!ts himself? Pot kettle Frank, pot kettle? Or in your case Vickís Vapour Rub Febreze?

How about using your trouser fly as a sort of miniature washboard?

Hey, well done Cec.  You've learn about "doing" words.  They are great, aren't they?  They usually describe how things can change from one state to another.  (There are some exceptions, such as "remain", "exist" and "stay").

Now, if you are ready for your next lesson, we can take you onto describing words.  These are sometimes called "adjectives".  They are brilliant, because they describe the state that a doing word leaves things in.  So, for instance, with your nuts: if you "loosen" (doing word) them, they become "loose" (describing word).  You notice how the describing word is based on the doing word?  It's fantastic, isn't it?

We could take this stage further, and look at the opposites.  Sometimes, for instance, you can make the opposite doing word by adding an "un" in front.  So for instance, if you were to get your knickers in a twist, you could "untwist" them, to make you feel better.  Sadly, with your nuts, you cannot "unloosen" them.  However, you can use an opposite word (sometimes called an "antonym").  That word, in relation to your nuts, is "tighten".  So, if you ever find your nuts too tight, and want to make them loose (we'll do comparatives another time), then feel free to "loosen" them (and vice versa).

I hope that wasn't too much for you in one go.  If so, I recommend you take your usual afternoon bottle of warm milk and have a little nap.  Then you'll be all bright and cheerful ready for your tea......

 Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Learned more there than I did in 11 years of schooling. Cheers

I'll stick my neck out and say that if Bunney plays up front before the end of the season we'll be in League Two next year.
Probably right Iíd say, not my preferred option either. Shows how desperate weíd be if Long cops it to be even putting this out there?
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oxford. on: February 20, 2018, 20:19:26 pm
And how many of them are good enough to play as a (lone) striker in League One?

Two. One of whom is now injured.

If Long breaks down we really are stuffed.

What if a game situation demands we play more than one striker?
Reckon weíll end up with Bunney up front if they start dropping like flies? Did occur to me it was one of the benefits considered when we signed him?

I managed to retain my vomit (just). I am not quite sure of what some of our fans consume in the way of food but one can only hope that the KFC shutdown will only help alleviate the issue. I may still invest in some of the special cream/smell inhibitor that coroners are known to apply under their nose when inspecting a rotting subject in a morgue and also take along a can of febreze just to make sure. #Sortyourselvesout
Good idea, along with the exclusion zone that really should be enough? Fail to prepare, prepare to fail as they say.
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oxford. on: February 18, 2018, 22:28:55 pm
I would play McWilliams instead of Grimes with a higher line to support and give him options when he wins possession. I actually quite like Grimes but I think itís a case of Crooks or Grimes. Right from the start of the season many identified we need a leader on the pitch who can run a game and break up play. We are still short on that but at least McWilliams will bring more of that missing steel and protection in front of the back four. Comes with risk but I think we need to try and bring a bit extra to our performances. Our recent good results seem to be due to the opposition being below par as much as us being too good on the day? If we keep things as we are I feel we might be a point or 2 short come May, especially with our goal difference. Need to play a higher line though, our back four are mobile enough to cope with it, just a bit worried about the defensive decision making of Bunney due to the discipline playing a higher line would need? Having gone to a play off contender and come away with a point I know all this seems excessive, but these home loses against fellow strugglers have to somehow be addressed.

Weíve changed 9 players but the spine of the team has remained pretty much unchanged all season. Whilst itís full of talent I think thereís an element of flattering to deceive. It just seems a bit short on certain qualities. There are reasons we are where we are. Donít get me wrong, I think we are ok, but it seems that might not be enough?
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Scunny (A) 17th Feb on: February 18, 2018, 14:58:30 pm
In my eyes this is not a difficult game. You obviously need possession to score and to stop them scoring. That means when our blokes are on the ball they needs 3 or 4 players making themselves available, and when the opposition have the ball our lot need to be up theirs arse in seconds. Too many times of late our players seem isolated with no options especially down the channel. Also far too much time and space is being given to the sides we are playing against, again a bit too often for my liking. All that says to me is some of our lot are not quite giving their all? Iím not saying they are taking the p1ss, just not quite up for it, with some obvious exceptions. Good result though, and some decent performances today so donít want to be too negative. Would have taken a point all day long before kick off.
Following on from this the back line is sitting too deep and there is just too much space between the team as a whole. A higher line comes at a risk but if we are going to press, which we need to more, itís necessary. How deep was the line for their first goal? I couldnít see exactly but if they have been 20 yards higher near halfway at least youíve got a chance of closing the player down. It was compounded by all the back peddling maintaining the space. It was the same for nearly every chance Scunny had. A higher one would allow us to press more and give more options in possession. Comes at a risk but it needs to be compressed between the last defender and Long or whoever and move cohesively forward and back as a unit. Thatís what I reckon anyway.

Due to being his biggest fan, following 78s enforced absence and the lack of enthusiasm for the ďfree 78Ē campaign, I thought I would pick up the reigns and run with this. Er, not going as well as weíd hoped, the whole thing is starting to look a bit rubbish, but fingers crossed weíll beat Poxford and we wonít look quite so stupid this time next week? Hope you approve 78, I admit I havenít quite got your panache, but Iím doing me best in frankly difficult circumstances?

You are , of course, referring to (As the Good Doctor F. would say) Cecil......  Huh?Huh?
Actually no, was hoping for a repeat of the unfortunate event that had befallen Frank

Poor turnout for a team in the playoffs.
wasnít there but would love to have heard ďf@ck me, the bloke behind has sh!t himself, and the bloke next to him has just puked on the back of my headĒ

Long worked his little socks off. They were taking it in turns to kick him up in the air most of the match. He did well to last the full game.
Good lad, thatís the way I took it.

Talking of up for it, what was the view on Long from the travelling faithful? Goal aside it sounded like he ran his conkers off, pressing the back line the lot?

Does Wilkinson count as a league manager, he's caretaker at Grimsby?
Dunno, donít know what the rules are, I suppose so if heís current?
