On another note I wouldnít be too hard on Mr Thompson either. Heís just got the hump cause heís done a 400 mile round trip and sat in the freezing cold for that crap. Donít blame him really. Heís going to make sure he damn well gets something for his money and the best he can come up with is exclusivity of opinion on this site. Given the pain and effort heís been through I almost feel inclined to give it to him. Still heíll get over it. A couple of signings in January and his frozen testicles in Boundary Park will be a distant memory, god bless him!

I know you can't tell much about what people are like from the internet (look at that Catfish Show). Perhaps I'm a bit deluded but I think the people on here are alright, theres not one I dislike. Yes there's some right nonsense spouted (guilty), a bit of arguing and a few insults banded about, but isn't that just part of the rough and tumble of this type of site? Theres plenty of intelligent opinion on here, lots to laugh at and best of all non stop chitter chat about me beloved Cobblers. Often wonder how I got by without this site, marvellous. Share the love everyone!

Same here, he`s most probably right
Er, problem is I donít go to games and as you have responded to my opinion it probably means you care about it? I think that might make him probably wrong? Still think heís spunky though!
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: An opinion based on going to a game not just the last one at ice station zebra on: Yesterday at 00:48:10
Somebody is drunk very early on a Sunday night
I like him, I think heís got spunk!

I care what they think.

To be honest Iíd have a go but my friends and family reckon this character is based on me.

I would question no 3 ; certainly not popular!

Please insert Potato Head (aka Doc Feelgood) if only for his refined comments and high IQ Roll Eyes. Always best to pay respectful nod to the Moderators.
we definitely want a Chris Sutton type on there whoís not afraid to tell it like it is. Youíd be good Evers, so would Steve. We donít want one of those nicey nicey donít say anything too nasty types? Canít wait frankly, hope someone decent is up for it?
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pompey (A) Checkatrade Trophy (R2) 2/12 (12.30pm) on: December 04, 2017, 23:17:30 pm
The frustrating thing for me is that the improvement we show with JJ in the team suggests we are actually only a couple of players short of being a good side? Hope we get an extended run out of him soon?
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: BBC Radio Northampton Thursday Night Football on: December 04, 2017, 21:22:35 pm
Drilling, Bungle and TFAMH are decent and seem to talk less bollocks than everyone else.

For a laugh you could have Cecil and Cobb78
I genuinely reckon 78 would be good on there. You want people with strong opinions. Youíd be quite good as well Feels, youíre not shy in coming forward at times either.
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: BBC Radio Northampton Thursday Night Football on: December 04, 2017, 20:37:28 pm
Would this mean outing yourself? On a seperate note we could all have a vote on the contributors on here. Why donít we agree on 5 candidates and then put it to the vote? By the way I have no desire to be ďthe voice from down underĒ on some sort of telegram link. Besides I listen to most games drunk and often fall asleep before the end of games (a bit like those in the comfy seats in the West Stand)

Off the top of my head top 5 in no particular order (apologies if I missed someone better)
1. Steve Riches (Wise word value from the much missed part time hack)
2. Everbrite (The ever popular no nonsense enforcer)
3. Cobblers 78 (The remarkably talented soothsayer)
4. Insider (Points of interest gathered from his daily cycle past the training ground)
5. Poggy (Comes across as comparatively quite brainy).

Agree but Howard Wilkinson at Everton?
Donít listen to me, I have absolutely no idea what I am going on about!
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Squad Appraisal / Where we need to strengthen in January on: December 01, 2017, 21:11:24 pm
Enjoyed this, a damn good read. If I was being picky it doesnít make a lot of sense to loan out Coddington if you fear Ingram going back but the rest was pretty much spot on I thought.
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Is anyone else? on: December 01, 2017, 20:44:32 pm
IMO itís all a question of perspective and degree. Everton fans could argue for decades they yo-yo between mid table and a relegation fight? They have their odd moment in the sun like qualifying for Europe last year and the Howard Wilkinson 80s side but thatís it. Years of stagnation going nowhere. Look at Villa, Leeds, the Sheffield clubs? If you listen to Liverpool fans on 606 without a title in 20 odd years and still in the same old under developed ground they sound worse than us? What you describe is the reality of the life of the vast majority of football fans. So why bother? Well the emotional experience of 86-87 will live with me till the day I die, as will Shrewsbury 94 and 15/16. Within all the desperation and gloom there lies some of the greatest memories of our lives. Hopefully it is those times that makes it all worth it? That is unless you support Barcelona, who have spent so long at the top their fans will never feel the once in a lifetime sensation of massive over achievement? Our day will come again soon.

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
of course your right, on reflection I have lost the plot there havenít I?
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January 2018 Transfer Rumours Thread on: November 30, 2017, 02:11:52 am
I still think we are crying out for an experienced leader. Not a rumour but Joleon Lescott is available on a free at the moment. Could be an experienced leader for us, as would Bacary Sagna who is also available? Think both would be interested in finishing their careers with Jimmy? Or for an even bigger pigs might fly Mathieu Flamini still only 33 and available? Ian Taylor went for it so why not have a punt says me?
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Justin Edinburgh on: November 29, 2017, 23:54:10 pm
Whilst I wasnít JEs biggest fan, I wouldnít lay the blame for the squad squarely with him either. Given the amount of time it took to put it together I donít think some of the players here were 2nd or even 3rd choice. Letís face it, whilst managerial ability is a big factor you also need a lot of luck. Players at this level are often here because they suffer from large fluctuations in form for whatever reason or are injury prone. You need your best players to stay injury free. You need to be able to recruit the right players at the right time, the list goes on and on. Iím afraid the likes of CW are rare in the extreme. The proof is that all of our successful managers went onto have their problems either during or after their time with us (CW aside obviously) All the managers we have had know their way around a football club, irrespective of their ability they still need things to go their way. Donít be too surprised if JE makes a go of it. After all, they say if you sit a chimpanzee at a piano long enough, it will eventually play a few bars of Mozart.
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January 2018 Transfer Rumours Thread on: November 28, 2017, 19:24:26 pm
Iím new to this Hotel End lark. Therefore just to get the ground rules clear when exactly does a rumour stop becoming a rumour and become fact? For example, if itís when the player puts pen to paper I think the thread might lose some element of revelation?
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Why does Jimmy ? on: November 27, 2017, 03:13:51 am
Why does Jimmy,
pull everyone back for corners,
not mark the opposition when they have a throw,
play the midfield so deep?

These are some of the questions I hear at Sixfields on matchday. But on Tuesday everyone will have the chance to ask the man himself when he attends the Trust Open Forum, in Carrs Bar at 8.00

The Trust AGM will take place at 7.30 with the Open Forum following at 8.00. This evening is open to all fans and entry is free.

PS. If anyone wants to return their Trust New Years Raffle stubbs and cash they can do so on Tuesday, saving on postage.
genuine question with no agenda, why would some believe the opposite is correct (not saying that itís not)?
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bury - Saturday 25th November on: November 26, 2017, 22:55:02 pm
The post match comments of JFH probably have very little to do with either the game or addressing the supporters. I believe the majority of whatís said is for the benefit of the squad and with one if not both eyes on the next match. When you think about it, itís easy to understand why. Once Jimmy gets in front of the mic the Bury gameís gone, surely all that matters at that point is affecting the mentality of the squad? So what does he do berate them or try and build confidence? All I am trying to point out is that I wouldnít be too hard on Jimmy for not being totally realistic in his comments to the press, their are more things at stake than total honesty? On a separate note, other than the obvious wide player, striker and please god experienced leader on the pitch, what we also need is fit JJ. We are a different side with him, and can I also suggest that many other sides would also be affected, possibly severely, by losing their most influential player? Especially when the squad has the shortcomings of ours?
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ifollow on: November 24, 2017, 18:28:38 pm
To be honest I prefer the commentary on radio Noddy. Nothing against the visual feed I have just always preferred audio generally be it football cricket or whatever. I spend most of my spare time listening to the BBC. For the midweek games I am able to listen in the car whilst at work driving round Melbourne, a thrill I never seem to tire of. Ainít modern technology marvellous? The only criticism I would have is that once you come off the ifollow main screen the connection drops. Therefore if I was listening to the game and say wanted to make a comment on here I would lose the commentary and would need to log in again. This is a right faff and would explain the lack of comments from us Johnny Foreigners during game time. That and having fell asleep on account of being thoroughly refreshed following a night out obviously.
