Lack of communication on both sides yet again - feel like we've walked this path many times before.
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC FOR SALE on: May 23, 2018, 14:15:08 pm
Oh the joys!

Not completely sure what to make of it having only just read the statement but from first viewing it looks like there are blockers in the council preventing KT and co from moving on the development of the East Stand. Will await the council's side of things but assuming it's a lot more complicated than I've read it to be!

As others have said, this is all a huge sideshow to what should be the most important thing - what happens on the pitch and our connection to it, not who gets rich from building around that.
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NEWS: Cobblers sign Doncaster striker Andy Williams on: May 21, 2018, 18:46:40 pm
That'll do for starters...seems to have the character that Austin likes and always good to have a bit of experience at this level.
4  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Football League Playoffs on: May 20, 2018, 01:34:06 am
5/6 finalists right...not bad!

Hoping for an Exeter win in L2 now to get them away - will be interesting to see what happens with Tisdale should they go up.
5  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pre-season friendlies. on: May 18, 2018, 15:42:07 pm
Wasn't there a friendly tour overseas once where a young fan was brought on when we were 11-0 up or something similar?
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Heart of the Club on: May 17, 2018, 10:22:38 am
So, Austin is the new manager.  But, who is the real beating heart of this club?  What group of players, together, makes our club the team that we will break down concrete walls to see?

Big hugs......

7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Confirmed - Dean Austin new permanent NTFC manager on: May 17, 2018, 10:20:07 am
Crooks is a bit of a luxury player and never got close to the level he played at Accrington. I have doubts about his fitness and his disciplinary record isn't great.

He hasn't got great pace and I've not seen a huge amount of creativity so I wouldn't be too fussed if we got rid but maybe L2 is his level.

Similar to discussions on other threads, it may well be that L2 is Crook's natural level. I thought he was excellent against Plymouth and that was the first time I'd seen him in that role.
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: May 17, 2018, 10:18:32 am
I'd take Naismith and Thomas from that list for starters.
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: May 16, 2018, 12:06:16 pm
I'd be nervous to get rid of Buchs and Maloney - they may not be what they once were but I still think they can do a job in L2 when called upon.
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pre-season friendlies. on: May 16, 2018, 12:02:56 pm
You really can't win with friendly results - hammer a non league side and it's no surprise and beat a Championship side and get everyone's hopes up far too much. All completely forgotten once the season starts.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Confirmed - Dean Austin new permanent NTFC manager on: May 16, 2018, 10:13:04 am
above all else, i want to see us with a strong defence next season, we conceded far to many goals, if you don't concede, you only need to score one goal to win. Also playing that way got us to the play off finals TWICE.

Three times if you count two under Atkins and one under Boothroyd. Austin was almost tied to a gung-ho approach in his five games so it'll be interesting to see his outlook once we're starting from a clean slate.

"I suggest you create a friendly closer to the sea...or preferably IN IT"

Not at all fussed where the friendlies are - there's sure to be a couple of home games in there. Shame that Sileby isn't on the usual Saturday - love a good beer in the sun over there. Will have to be a Bovril under the lights instead!

Finally got round to watching the video - that's outstanding and gives me even more belief that we're in good hands.
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Underrated and forgotten gems? on: May 13, 2018, 10:39:39 am
24 Jan 1998 V Bristol City at Ashton Gate. About 600 (of over 14k attendance) of us witnessed one of the best 0-0 draws I have ever seen. City finished second to Watford that year, we were fourth behind Grimsby who beat us in the play off final. Cobblers were applauded off like Champions after a very battling and entertaining performance to earn a point against one of the top teams in the division.

Yes, this one! What an atmosphere that day.

The above Swansea game is a very honorable mention too.

Hi all out there in help land,

I can't seem to embed videos on here - is there a simple thing I'm missing? (Assuming yes!)

If anyone can help, let me know  Smiley

If any season deserved Balding as winner then this was it. I'm sure she wouldn't mind being sandwiched in between Ash and Grimes though  Grin

It's not exactly a gem of a game, but the FA cup win at Coventry a couple of years ago shouldn't be underrated. I think the club at that point were asking us to pay in cash, and the players hadn't been paid. We take about 2000+ to the ricoh, take the lead twice and beat a team a league above us who I think were near the top. The celebrations at the end were superb, and that togetherness helped us through a dark time and helped us to win the league.

Absolutely - was in tears for a lot of that day!
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC next manager on: May 12, 2018, 10:49:00 am
Agree totally with this, certainly would not have been my choice, he did reconnect with the fans, he will certainly have been the cheaper option and I really hope KT dosent come to regret it once again come xmas.

But he is tge man to take us forward so let's get behind him

I think relegation actually brings Austin a bit more time, patience wise, than League One would have. It gives him a chance to let us breathe a bit and though fans expectations will be of finishing top seven I think if we start to enjoy coming to Sixfields and away games again then it's a huge start.

When was the last time a manager even mentioned the Under 9's in an interview? That, to me, is key and shows a vision beyond his own time at the club.

He comes across as genuine and not someone to just spout nonsense and sound bites and reckon he could also have a few decent contacts in the game.

Excited to see what the summer brings and hopefully we can all come back in August a united front.
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC next manager on: May 12, 2018, 10:11:34 am
I do think this is the right appointment. The way Dean has reconnected the club to the fans in a short amount of time is admirable. Gives him the whole summer now too and hopefully means the better players remain.
