The more we keep talking about relegation....I hope it doesn't become a self fulfilling prophesy !
1842  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Guinan to Hereford on: October 11, 2010, 09:24:29 am
Listening on the radio on saturday it appears that the Hereford fans would like Guinan back in a coaching capacity.

I can understand this  Smiley

I'm sure he is a good pro, all be it a journeyman, who will have a continued career in the game in a coaching capacity.....

a win win option , but after we`ve played them at the weekend obviously.....

THEN SURELY WE WILL GET A STRIKER / TARGET MAN IN who can cut it at this vaulted level.
1843  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Samp out ? on: October 10, 2010, 16:03:33 pm
Sammo  would need to be sacked before we were relegated in order to find someone capable of keeping us up......if we think of getting out of this division as being tough...try the Blue Square prem, with a plethora of ex- league sides stuck in it!
1844  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: This Season... on: October 09, 2010, 20:42:42 pm
The Cup heroics are hiding the glaring inadequacies of this squad.....not to mention being compounded by tactical and selection naivety.
Without that run cup what would the flavour be???

C'mon DC spend some of that cup money before losing is ingrained into our future'll also start losing attendance monies pretty soon anyway.

Hereford & Lincoln are the fairly immediate litmus paper tests, with their new management. However we'll probably then go on and thrash Port Vale....C'mon Cobblers shake this off....

But..."Too good for this division".... my *rse!
1845  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cheltenham on: October 09, 2010, 20:29:43 pm
I wonder how much Becks has cost us........ per playing minute this season???

in money terms..... as well as probably 3 points today
1846  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Guinan to Hereford on: October 09, 2010, 20:26:53 pm

Probably for the same reason we appointed Sammo.

I was reading down the page and thought exactly the same....snap!
1847  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Relegation on: October 07, 2010, 00:12:50 am
I think it's too early to talk about relegation: we were in a similar position last year, and managed to turn things round.

However, what worries me is that little or no progress has been made since last year - despite all the talk about making a good start. I'm not sure that Sammo has a long term strategy to get us out of this division. His decisions seem to be pretty much spur-of-the-moment.

The cup results have bought him some time. The question is: how much?

We are a much inferior team to last year!
We have made no progress and have gone backwards with the smaller budget
The Cup run just clouds the great an experience as it has been, none the less.
We need to concentrate on the league before losing and drawing becomes an ingrained habit!
1848  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Guinan to Hereford on: October 06, 2010, 09:15:20 am
There's always one to spoil it  Roll Eyes

He would be more use to us scouting rather than playing.

1849  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Josh parker on: October 02, 2010, 22:38:11 pm
I said earlier that the signing was curious........

it now appears to be rank stupidity....

the "player was offered to the club"...what is that all about...

it certainly says a lot about the decision making process and management ability at the club.

If I was Paul Rodgers, I really would wonder why .......

thank god he is cup-tied, although the cup heroics seem to be massively affecting and clouding the league concentration / effort...not for the first time in our history!

Come on Sammo sort this out before it becomes a real problem Huh?
1850  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Josh parker on: October 02, 2010, 10:39:11 am
Curious........I would echo all the other comments about Rodgers & Herbert.....

A really good option on the right wing ...and getting better

Reminds me , sort of, of the old West Indies Cricket fast bowlers....once you you think you've seen one speed -whippet off....... on comes some fresh legs  just as quick.

A big awkward/ hand- full / nasty type of a target man is really needed....please

1852  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Beautiful article about 1970 8-2 loss to Man U and now on: September 30, 2010, 12:36:18 pm
Yes I was there and remember it well from my position near the top of the Spion Kop. Got the programme with some difficulty.
Fed up of the numerous TV replays whenever George Best is covered.
1853  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield - LIVE on: September 28, 2010, 23:30:55 pm

Deservingly beating a good side until...

we failed to pick up a short corner ( not for the first time)....this needs to be flagged

& a rare error from Tozer  +++ the keeper naively in no mans land !
1854  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The 'Clare Balding' Chesterfield POTS on: September 28, 2010, 23:27:28 pm
Must be Thornton
1855  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Carling Cup Round Four - Ipswich Away on: September 26, 2010, 13:09:07 pm
It could have been a better draw, but at least we didn't get Brentford away which seemed on the cards.

Still the only Cobblers team I've seen at Portman Road is the Youth Team..... so another full tick.

It is win-able and we deserve to get one over on Keano after the Sunderland floodlight robbery!
1856  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The 'Clare Balding' Bradford City POTS on: September 26, 2010, 12:55:00 pm
Rodgers for an all out athletic display +++ even with end product, unlucky to be booked......well done Paul keep proving the doubters wrong!

+ special mention to Ben Tozer tho'
1857  General Category / General Chat / Re: 92 Club on: September 24, 2010, 19:28:21 pm
Yes seen the mighty Cobblers take over Anfield
1858  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: No crash landings on: September 24, 2010, 18:22:06 pm
Let's hope it's not a case of "After the Lord Mayor's Show...."

It is imperative that we kick start our league campaign. there are plenty of examples of a great cup run masking an eventual league disaster, Coventry City springs to mind.

The players will need to be totally focused.....because just before kick off we will know our next Cup Opponents!
1859  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Next Please on: September 23, 2010, 23:29:27 pm

1860  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The 'Clare Balding' Liverpool POTS on: September 23, 2010, 23:04:39 pm
