Interestingly this has been achieved by a squad which by all intents and purposes is that which finished third in league 2 last year. There were plenty on here calling this group of players not up to league 1 standard at the start of the season and calling for signings. I love how the club have gone about this campaign, we have a group of hardworking players with great spirit who play for each other and are better than the sun of their parts. There are teams below us that have gone for the big name big wage signings but this shows there more to football than just money.
I wonder, is this the squad with the least changes after recent promotion to League One?

Footbal fans are fickle. They change their minds according to who shouts the loudest. One minute Simpson is a non league player, the next he gets a standing ovation when hes subbed. One minute its a "brady out" thread, the next hes doing so well since CC left. One minute Burge is unreliable and cant kick, the next they cant wait for him to return. The list is endless and will continue to be so. As for whose right or wrong is down to peoples opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. After all, a broken clock is right twice a day, and wrong for the rest.
Spot on and that's the beauty of the game. I'm as fickle as the next man when it comes to players (and managers) but it's all part of the pantomime. Mind you, judging by those remarks you'll soon be a 5 game block convert ;-)

As I've said a number of times before, I agree with that perspective? It's almost as if when Sam is playing, the first option/target for the 'out ball' is him, sometimes to the detriment of a possible better option, which gives the opposition an obvious opportunity to close us down. Without him, all options are immediately 'on the table' and gives the team a different, less structured and free flowing look.
Surely that's down to Brady? He must be instructing players to look to give that out ball to Hoskins. He must also be instructing Hoskins to go for goal rather than look for options.

Well in does seem Larry that judging by today's posts, more and more people are reaching the same conclusion as me, though they don't need my help, they can see it with their own eyes.
What conclusion is that?

Well don't then, produce the figures to back up your argument.
I'm afraid you've missed my point. It's practically impossible to use simplistic game data to show a player's contribution to a squad as there are too many variables. You've got to consider the combination of various players being absent and a slew of other factors that will have a bearing on the result. Statistics in football is fascinating, particularly as it's such a lower scoring game. Companies such as Opta have done great job in formalising what is agreed to be an imprecise sport but as their web site shows it leads to extremely intricate data. Using the match result to indicate a player's contribution makes no sense and if you take it to its conclusion then Sam Allardyce is Englands greatest ever manger and possibly the greatest international manager in history.

Not sure if you missed my second post or not but just bringing it up in case you did.
That's a good observation but I dont think we actually play that much differently when Hoskins is absent. Each player still does their role the same but we do miss the energy and surging runs that Hoskins brings. I reckon the rest of the squad would feel insulted if it was genuinely suggested they dont play so well with him in the team. For what it's worth I would suggest the player that makes the biggest difference to the squad could be McWilliams. When he's on top of his game the work he does in the midfield is immense.

And I love Hoskins. But we play different without him and arguably we play with more attacking freedom.
That's true but we also play differently without McWilliams, Sowerby and/or Sherring. Each player's absence has an effect on the squad and it's ridiculous to focus solely on Hoskins

the squad has been absolutely devastated these last two games,
You've just said exactly why the numbers are pure trivia. For the variation of Hoskins to be absent to have any kind of relevance the rest of the team has to be constant. This of course isn't so, as you've just pointed out. That's not even including other factors such as manager tactics and the opposition which also have to be constant. It's nothing to do with the Cobblers' performance but at last you've entertained people on here for a few posts. Thank you

It's interesting to look back at the blocks and see how it accurately defined our moods as the season progressed. Thank God for 4 after the misery of 3

I was, of course, delighted to see the red card but it was a decent game up until then with us playing the slightly better football. It rather skewed it all with us expecting to dominate against 10 men but their individual player superiority it meant they still fancied their chances. It reminded me of a youth football friendly where the higher age team gives away a goal and takes off a player to make it an even match. It would have been good to see how we would have done against an 11 man Bolton side. I reckon we would have been ok, despite their quality subs. Still, we got a point against one of the top sides and it was an entertaining game too.

Your point?
So eager is your need, some might even call it an obsession, to get one over on me you can't even be bothered to read what I was replying to.
Sorry, I thought I was helping you.

You're not wrong. Bush too. Both religious extremists. My point is just because you don't think the punishment will be severe enough, doesn't mean you should just give in.
The UK never invaded Iraq, we supported the USA invasion together with Australia and Poland backed by UN resolutions followed by thirty six other countries. It lasted about a month and was met with little resistance.

In any management role (football or otherwise) you'll have individuals who like the manager, some that don't have close relationships and some that think all managers are k*obs. This is especially the case if they don't appreciate your abilities or don't feel you are qualified to manage them. I'd imagine that every club as a select few individuals/small groups who are not that enamoured to their leader, probably even Pep!
It's a bit different to when you see teams that refuse/never perform for a manager. If that was the case we wouldn't be in the position we're in! My mate manages a very successful step 5 team and always says how some players play up. Whilst it is a very different level I am sure the same applies. I doubt Rashford and Hag are bezzies.
That seems like a pretty good picture of most football dressing rooms. They always talk about the team spirit when things are going well and the classic example is Leicester winning the prem. That was put down to the closeness of the team and Ranieri. Fast forward to the next season and that all evaporated. We've being doing well ever since Jon Brady has ben appointed and all credit to him for that. It will be interesting to see how much of that credit is in the bank if and when we falter.

My understanding is the private care is fine if you have a short term illness or anything that requires a quick fix. If it's more complicated, long term or anything that's basically expensive then you turn to the NHS.

OK, I know for a fact that KT is paid (or was, my info is a few years old now but assume still relevant) "expenses" They are not a small amount but at the same time not unreasonable as a salary BUT instead of a salary he is paid "monthly expenses" (so no tax, NI etc)
I'm sure that all those reading this that are freelancers or working to contracts will sigh at the thought of being able to put everything down to expenses. KT will be subject to the usual tax and if he wants a pension at the end of his working life he will pay NI He wont get sick or holiday pay though.
