By the way, had no commentary home or away on ifollow, now I really am going to bed.

Stayed up till 4 in the morning and conceded 2 soft goals like that, gutted. Great goal by Rose and a good performance I thought, but you would see better dealing with stuff like that down the left on the racecourse? Bang average at best, I’m off to bed. I hate Crappleton!
3423  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Away at the Imps...Saturday 23.01.21 on: January 21, 2021, 11:15:19 am
Nice work as ever GPC. Given my unabated admiration of Crappleton I am absolutely desperate for us to win this, and I am hopeful we will 0-1

At the end of the day if we'd have shut our borders they'd still be shut now.....we can't control what goes on outside the UK and we're not self sufficient. This country would not survive with fully closed borders in the same way Australia and New Zealand have done.

I googled the other day to see how far New Zealand was from Australia....I thought they were closer than the 2500 miles or so that they are! Consider now that London is 2600 miles from Egypt......and then imagine nothing in between....... thats the advantage that Australia has when it comes to closing your borders.......
To put it in perspective it’s just short of 4 hours on a plane from Melbourne to Auckland and Christchurch is about 3 hours 30. To keep it to the theme of the thread I’m not sure on the flight time from here to Blackpool?

Australia - Covid Deaths = 909. 138th per capita in the world.

UK - Covid Deaths = 91,470. 8th per capita in the world.

That's a seriously impressive performance by your new host country especially given the closer proximity to China (and relatively close ties ?). Deserves saying.
True, we feel incredibly fortunate to live here. However, it’s also a fact that there are reportedly 7 million people in Australia entitled to hold a British passport, that’s 25% of the population. Therefore anything that happens in the UK has a massive emotional effect here. We are all worried sick about friends and family so there is no escape?

You Aussies, you always bring it back to sheep and leisure time  Grin
Its inevitable you get consumed by the culture.

Why is everyone responding to this dipshìt? He's come on here to get a reaction and he's getting one. Ignore him and he'll sit alone in his dingy bedsit with a sad little frown on his face, give him the attention he's seeking and he'll be wànking himself into a pre-pubesent frenzy over it.

I know which one I'd like to picture and it isn't the second one.
I disagree, you can’t beat a bit of banter. I like this Ewe, I think he’s got spunk!
3428  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tangerine Dream on Tuesday? on: January 19, 2021, 18:46:16 pm
Yep. As an aside, I couldn't remember what the documentary they made was called so I googled it and stumbled across this: https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/278570/hotel-on-sea-real-or-spoof

It's a debate about whether it was a spoof or not because it was so farcical. I could have assured them it wasn't!!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Don’t stay anywhere unless it’s got 5 stars and a restaurant that’s got at least 2 Michelin ones. Absolute riff raff on here!

Up until 1960 Poxford United were apparently known as Headington Town. Rumour has it they were so called because they had a propensity for sucking each other’s d1cks? A recent visit to your forum has confirmed that old habits die hard.
I’m sorry that was childish, I’ve let myself down again. Oxford are a fine club, up the Ewes!

We’ve never obsessed over you or any other club, Curley was scared another 4 nil drubbing was coming so left the sprinklers on Friday night to compensate what rain you had.

Very funny  Roll Eyes

Is he available to play? He needed to be signed by 12noon.
According to this he’s not available till Lincoln as signed after 12?

https://lastwordonsports.com/football/2021/01/18/bryn-morris-signs-for-northampton-town/amp/

24 Year old England youth captain who played in 2 league 1 play off campaigns in 3 seasons, went to Pompey and spent a year on the treatment table and played in only 5 games on his return? The CV is attractive enough, sounds like he needs an extended run on the pitch to bring the best out of him? Problem is that having been signed by KC and given the current atmosphere he’s going to need to hit the ground running as we are definitely not a patient lot at the minute? Apparently he’s had 32 minutes game time since October the 27th so it seems unlikely he’ll do that so fingers crossed? Could be a gem if he gets that extended run though?

Is there any truth to the rumour their shirts are a shade of “morning urine” to reflect the fact they’re pi55 pot?
Sorry, that was childish. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Ewes fans everywhere.

Do you remember how many of those went in?  Grin
One of my mates reckons half were supposed to be crosses and the other half were supposed to be  passes back to our own keeper? Harsh, but I did laugh.
3435  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: New Year 2021 Transfer Window on: January 17, 2021, 17:35:49 pm
I see in the Oxford match program you could download off the club website it had the player stats for league one. It showed the top 5 players in each section, goals scored, most assists, most interceptions, most tackles etc. Out of the entire list there was only one of our players who made it into any of them. Hoskins, who was in 5th place out of the entire division for most shots, with 53 if I remember right?
3436  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: What to do? on: January 17, 2021, 17:25:48 pm
There's probably not a standard pitch size because the old grounds were developed before that idea was first raised. Once in use and of various size according to what was surrounding them, how could the FA or whatever authority then try and standardize pitch size?
Only possible by making the smallest pitch  played on the standard, which would have met with considerable opposition by those playing clubs on larger pitches I would have thought?
I’m not having that CJ? When football was first invented back in the day and they put together the rules such as number of players, handball, VAR etc you would have thought it was first on the list? In those days there was probably a cow shed and that was about it, so it can’t be that surely?
3437  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: What to do? on: January 17, 2021, 09:57:08 am
This is very interesting but you don't actually explain why there isn't a standard pitch size, but rather how clubs exploit the current rules. Not having a single standard size seems to give an unfair advantage to the home side. I think it might be nice if NTFC were forced to use out-and-out wingers. Marshall and Roberts could be decent - or certainly worth a try at least.
No, I didn’t actually find out the answer and then went off on a tangent with the other stuff. Then I  completely forgot about what I was looking for in the first place, sorry.

You’ve said the wrong thing again haven’t you?
3439  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Match Program on: January 16, 2021, 11:18:29 am
Just downloaded the match program from the club website. I haven’t been able to buy a program for nearly ten years so it was a real thrill. If anyone from the club is reading this would the club be interested in adding a match program to the annual season subscription for ifollow? It would add to the experience and I would go for it? You could even include the away programs and take a cut from that? Just an idea?
3440  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Home v Oxford Saturday 16.01.21 on: January 16, 2021, 10:28:36 am
If there was one thing I would change about our game it would be to play a higher line. We sit too deep too often and our forward players end up being detached. If only I had some coaching badges my opinion would have some credibility?
