1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread 2024 on: Yesterday at 09:57:45
Matty Stevens from relegated FGR could be decent squad option...still only 26 & wages would probably be a third of what Hylton was/is being paid!
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Kieron Bowie on: April 16, 2024, 21:30:22 pm
Irrelevant thread as it's been confirmed he ain't coming back!

Let's hope were already looking for a replacement for him and the unreplaceble Leonard...

Balding, such a bad lackluster performance from everyone!

Koiki

Hopefully, along with Magalore, can remain fit & both be a real asset to us next season.

You'd never guess who posted this on the Facebook thread...yes, he's back!  Roll Eyes

Northampton Town Post / Land/Thomas and Bower will be a struggling L2 club trapped in a tiny non league ground....
This despite all the multi millions splashing around in the name of NTFC.
For those above who say 'it's not your money' please remember it's all our Football club and this awful tiny East stand fit out isn't fit for purpose.. Those 5 acres of running track is the football clubs land and is being wasted on just 10 boxes.
NTFC under these greedy owners and an increasingly desperate council is seeing untold damage done to NTFC and its ability to trade as one would expect of a centrally located town with 250,000 population.
Desperate times..

Nothing on the Trust website as yet

It's on both X and Facebook...
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: April 04, 2024, 17:30:03 pm
No statement from the trust as yet

Ladies & Gentlemen...I give you the official trust statement just published on X

The Sixfields land deal, finalised today, should see the East Stand finally completed.
We eagerly await the project plan, timetable and the final designs.
Like all fans, we are reassured that work on the stand will be clearly evident as soon as the season ends, if not earlier.

Unbelievable, considering THEY were a massive hindrance in getting this over the line in the first place!
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: April 04, 2024, 11:36:00 am
Great news... Smiley

I see that Tom Reed / WALOC fella has already taken to twitter starting his negative crusade  Roll Eyes

He'll be the first to moan if the spec isn't as per the original design...

Most of us who actually go every week and are sick of looking at it, just want the bloody embarrassing eyesore completed, hopefully to a half decent spec...ya can't polish a turd & all that!

Now eagerly awaiting the trust/Cilldara joint statement expressing how they can't wait to work with the owners now they've finally gotten this over the line...

Also to include a bit of bants about the "it's a knockout - anyone but them" obstacle course they devised which the owners skillfully navigated to finally get to this stage.  Grin

10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Play-off watch on: April 04, 2024, 08:09:10 am
If you take all the concrete factual evidence around you, primarily that it takes significant investment to get out of this division, then the reality is that becoming a solid, middle of the road L1 side is the best we can achieve. We are not, never have been and sadly never may be as big as Portsmouth, Derby and Bolton. And whilst it may hurt, based on historical average league position (Marvo, correct me if I'm wrong) we're not as successful as The Pish either, certainly not in recent history anyway.

That's not to say we can't have that one season... Burton did it and there's doubtless other examples too.

But for that to happen, one of two things, or both, need to happen. We either need a sugar daddy to pump millions into the club or a manager needs to get "lucky" and build that inexplicable, perfect machine that magically gels and defies the odds.

The chances of either of these things happening are less likely than the reality that this summer Brady will be doing his best to fills the holes left by some decent loanees and build a squad that keeps us exactly where we are now.... 10th, 11th or thereabouts.

Saying all this doesn't make me unambitious, miserable, grumpy or defeatist. If we go the next 5 seasons middle of L1 that for us is a relative success. And every year we stay in this division means another summer where we can dream of it being "that one season".

I would take that over being a yo-yo club between L2 and L1 every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Yes, promotions are great, but relegations aren't. Losing is horrible and I'd rather be average in L1 than rubbish, then maybe great in L2.

Exactly this!
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under & Out of Contract on: April 03, 2024, 08:36:58 am
I suspect we'll offer Sherring a contract but he'll explore his options & then move on.

He ain't staying so let's not wait for his answer & get looking for a solid replacement now...

Otherwise, we'll be hanging on as per usual til the start of pre-season, only for him to then say no & any half decent replacement will have already be snapped up by someone else by then.

Now we know what division we'll be in, the deadline for any contract offers should be by mid June at the latest, earmarking possible replacements in the meantime...

Can't be ending up with injury prone crocks as last minute replacements!
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Play-off watch on: April 02, 2024, 22:19:25 pm
Could have been anybody, didn't have to be Lincoln, could have been Leyton orient, they were in a better position. The point always was, when many said it couldn't be done, somebody did it. That's all you need to know.

It couldn't have been done by us as JB never had (or was ever likely to get) any proper backing in the January window, hence why many said the play offs were a pipe dream for us...

I mentioned in the January transfer window thread that Joe Taylor (then on loan from Luton to Col U) would have been a decent signing of intent...Lincoln then went on to sign him & he's massively helped them to get into the final play off place...

All supporters would have loved a go at the play offs but without any tangible backing it was never going to happen...that's not being negative, it's being realistic!
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under & Out of Contract on: April 02, 2024, 12:28:22 pm
I agree with Appere. There is a player in there and we have seen glimpses. If we can get him on a decent wage I think he is worthy of a squad place but wouldn't be disappointed if he left. Sort of player I can see joining P*sh (who are interested apparently) and becoming a m player for them.

Appere to the scum...absolutely no chance they'd be interested...they are all about pace & power up front...sadly Louie has neither...

He's a willing runner but I think the scum are unfortunately shopping in a slightly better market than us.
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The 'Clare Balding' POTS Port Vale (h) April 1st 2024 on: April 01, 2024, 22:12:17 pm
Leonard for me, unbelievable work rate for a loan player (same goes for Bowie)

Both gonna be sorely missed!
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under & Out of Contract on: April 01, 2024, 22:08:09 pm
I would keep

Lee Burge (1 year)
Sam Sherring
Ben Fox (1 year)
Jordan Willis
Shaun McWilliams
Akin Odimayo (1 year)
Liam Moore
Dominic Gape (1 year)

Moore & Gape, no thanks, both did a job to get us over the line but we need to be looking for better in what will be an even stronger L1 next season...

Burge....depends on if he gets through the final 4 games unscathed...

Willis, again another injury prone defender we can ill afford...

Hopefully, the owners will back JB to bring in some quality...

With Leonard & Bowie going we're gonna need it...

Thankfully, freeing up Hyltons wages should get us a couple of decent signings!

Also, if Magalore can somehow stay fit, he'll be a real asset in L1
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Port Vale (h) - Easter Monday on: April 01, 2024, 19:53:09 pm
Surprisingly comfortable win...

Moore probably now out for the season as Brady said post match "it doesn't look good"

He's done a steady job but nothing spectacular to earn a new contract imo...

We simply can't keep signing crocks...

Hopefully, the recruitment team are now actively looking for robust signings, now we know what division we'll be in...

You obviously can't prevent injuries but you can certainly see by a players previous injury record if they are more prone to breaking down than others.

Unfortunately, would not be at all surprised to see this being eclipsed on Saturday...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41450709

They tore us apart at their place when we had something to play for, now we realistically don't & they are gunning for automatic promotion, it could get messy...

Just hope we show up & make a game of it.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Injury Updates.... on: March 19, 2024, 15:30:29 pm
Brady confirmed that Danny Hylton is currently fit and it has been a selection decision to leave him out of recent matchday squads. The Town boss says he has no issue with Hylton commentating on Luton Town games at the same time the Cobblers are playing.

Absolute p1ss take imo...

Wtf are we actually paying him for then!?
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe (a) Sat. 16th March on: March 16, 2024, 19:41:09 pm
That was a painful watch...

Agree it's now time to play OUR own players who are contracted for next season, to gain much needed experience & see if they can cut it at L1 level...

The likes of Dadge, Dyche & Lintott should all be starting next week...

What a fantastic game to prove they can cut it.

Also, I hope the recruitment team are actively looking for potential signings for next season already, as it's going to be an even bigger ask to compete & stay up next season imo
