The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pinnock long throw

I would abandon it because it hasn't worked for 3 + seasons.
Unfortunately it's not a bullet like penetrating long throw - it's a slow high ball which gives central defenders ample time to judge an interception. As previously mentioned on his day Pinnock's crosses are much more effective.

I really fail to see how ONE person from the Trust could cause any problem at all. So much for free speech Then you don’t understand human dynamics - there are weak and strong individuals and there are leaders and followers - couple that with strong egos and one person can easily be a dominant force

I wasn’t comparing personalities just pointing out that KN needs some points on the board and quick given we got bugger all against Lincoln. Mind you Kev didn’t seem too fussed so I guess I shouldn’t worry too much about Wycombe away. I like old Kev he’s not one to fret.
Fair points

Have to agree. The FAB is as Tom says an advisory group. Having attended the first meeting it consists of well intentioned individuals. However, I was hoping that it would facilitate in-depth consultation between the club and a group of fan representatives on strategic matters affecting the club and fans. Not a popular view but I do believe that it should include the Trust.
On the contrary I think most people do think a functional trust should be involved, however........

Getting back to the thread subject… With a lack of signings and a very tough run of games this situation could soon turn fenwick.
Fenwick was a complete knob with absolutely no communication skills with either the players or the other coaching staff so irrespective of results really no comparison.

It’s not an insult, it’s a FACTUAL description of someone who enjoys football in the league below our current one.
No, it’s your opinion not a fact - but the need to add a derogatory adjective to anyone or anything you don’t agree with shows a fundamental lack of social skills, often displayed by people with high IQs but very dissatisfied with what they have achieved in life frequently accompanied by a Walter Mitty type exaggeration of those achievements……… Does the cap fit?

Euro'land may have disturbed what little self confidence you have left!
....and another one trying to insult other posters with limited wit - read the room Evers, I'm certainly not saying I want us to be relegated I'm simply saying the most exciting seasons have been those where we have been chasing promotion. I'm also not saying if we were relegated we would automatically be challenging for promotion next season but I do think we would more than hold our own Reality says, with the current set up (Owners, capacity etc) we are very unlikely to be challenging for promotion any time soon in L1

Me too, anyone who says we’d be better off in L2 is quite frankly moronic.
Moronic? - I think you choose your insults without thinking too much - ask most long standing fan's which were their most 5 enjoyable seasons over the last 20 years or so - I'd be very surprised if many in their top 5 featured our adventures in L1.

Just seen the full game replay - very tedious and a tough watch but for me Shaw probably the only player from either side that showed any L1 class - definitely a keeper

I thought the stand looks to have had a decent standard fit out, well done KT.
Agreed, which just shows you can in fact (partially) polish a turd - still annoying though what £10 million could have achieved 8 years ago though

I was giving this some thought and the Cobblers are quite an attractive proposition for a manager trying to add to their reputation. If we stay up, I'm reasonably confident that this could well be the first time we make it to four consecutive seasons in the third tier, so well on our way to establishing ourselves. If we go down, we'll be one of the favourites to bounce straight back up. A promotion campaign will mean Nolan will probably get poached by a bigger club and we'll sort of be back to square one (as well as League one). So if this is to be a long term appointment (more than a season and a half), we need to stay up. Funny situation really, Nolan chances of getting a gig at a bigger club would probably be enhanced with us being relegated this season. That is as long as the club stick by him mind.
Indeed - funny old game but I thought exactly the same - probably not a popular view but a free scoring L2 team with a full Sixfields would represent a happier season than this one.

I wonder if the the MPs would meet with them if they knew what underhand activities the trust have been involved in, mind you that does make them akin to MPs.
....or indeed the negative campaign against Lucy Rigby by some prior to the election & then a smiling photo opportunity to discuss Trust matters after she was elected.

I’d assume the delay is because the Saudi consortium are in the process of pumping millions into the transfer budget.
.....it's probably bulls*** but in reality If you look up and down the country for a club, history and catchment area one could pick up cheaply and make a difference with a billionaire's pocket money we have to be on a short list. .....having said that such a scenario is fraught with all sorts of other problems - the only certainty, with the exception of Bed's rival local consortium none of us will have any say in the matter.

I think they would turn up, and I fully support the Trust taking a leading role, unfortunately I think the current leadership have probably burnt any chances of that happening.
Again I agree (whilst we stay off politics!) - there is definitely is, and should be a role for the trust which is separate from the FAB but it is not going to happen with the present incumbents - they just can't stop themselves, as recent as yesterday whilst most commentary was praising the East Stand (whilst of course acknowledging the limitations) the usual suspect was exclaiming "its all about the stand - what about the land" - totally graceless comments and despite no doubt saying its a personal point of view, in reality it does seemingly represent the view of the current trust.

Out of interest - you reckon his salary would be higher as backroom staff at Everton?
Either way, I don't doubt establishing himself as a manager would be his priority, moving on so early would ruin his reputation for any future opportunities. But I wonder if any lower league manager has ever jumped ship for a lesser role at a bigger club purely for monetary gain.
Given that Prem managers have massive salaries compared to L1 and 2 I suspect pay for a senior backroom staff would be higher than what he is getting here but if you want to progress up the managerial career ladder you have to create a reputation when in charge - no one externally frankly takes much notice of long term back room staff

Let's hope these latest time wasters fill their boots, take their loot, allowing our club to recover with what's left, to finally become the club it's cruelly being denied these past 20 years.
As you were, nothing to see here...
.....serious question Beds - how much actual profit do you think KT/DB are actually getting from their involvement in NTFC. Just a few points to consider - they are unlikely to get any future buyer to pay off the director loans so they will either have to write then off or service them via the profits from the land deal. Whilst you can speculate on the profit from the land sale, the only thing we actually know is the figure paid for it.. I'm sure you will want to factor in the "Chinese money" - the reality here is you don't know the details but I'll give you an (unlikely) starter of £5 million Just to illustrate some alternative investment opportunities - the £15 million or so in director loans etc could have been invested in the S&P500 and given a 330% return over 10 years - much less hassle than owning a football club. Let's have your figure to back up your constant accusations of money grapping land speculators please?

The Trust's correct mandate and mission would always occasionally put a strain on the relationship with the club - The FAB undoubtably have an easier ride in that respect and people should fully understand the difference.
Whilst strident and in my opinion unnecessarily provocative I think the relationship with the club (both current and any future owners) could have been resolved but it's obvious the point of no return was the attempted partnership with Cildara.
The normal apologists for this action have never explained what the plan was, what outcomes were expected, and other than a somewhat meaningless statements of "protecting the club" have never justified the action. If they were acting as private individuals that is acceptable but acting for a 700 plus membership it is inexcusable and the obvious conclusion was the action was simply an ill though out and arrogant "anybody but KC/DB"
The FAB initiative is good but I strongly believe a club at our level needs a functioning Trust - but unfortunately without a significant change and the embracing some humility we are still some way off from this happening
