It was either in the Chron or their Web site and most probably on both. It was at the time when WW were in the championship for the first time; am am guessing it was about January time. Apparently Hoskins was made aware of the interest but declined to take it further! Have no link now but it gives you the opportunity to do some research work! One other thing it was at a time when Hoskins was under scrutiny; perhaps iit was under JE or Curle steward ship ? In debates ref Hoskins at the time (before circa 2017) I enjoyed reminding the debaters at the time that we had received an offer from a Championship Club for the Great Hoskins! It was poo pooed by some when they learnt it was Wycombe who at the time looked likely to be relegated after one season.
Thanks for that Everbrite. If you don't mind I'll read that at bedtime tonight to the grandkids. Make a nice change from Red Riding Hood and Jack and the beanstalk.

It says in the oxford dictionary that Nonce (of a word or expression) coined for one occasion:
"a nonce word"
£115,00 for that?
Imagine if he'd called him a paedophile?

I don’t think the concern is just that we’re missing a goal machine, I think it’s the bulk of an attacking unit that’s missing!
Eaves - blows hot but more often cold. Injured half the time. Hoskins - unpredictable. I know some on here don’t think he’s upto it which is unfair. Jacobs - has said himself he isn’t here to play much football List - wasn’t very good in the same league last season. Has the same amount of assists in the last 5 years that Mitch managed last season. Also scores a lot less goals. Swyer - unproven, who knows how that will work out.
Where are the goals and assists going to come from I wonder?
Maybe from the next few new signings we make before the start of the season? That would be my guess.

Sounds a bit like the 'we haven't played any games yet' scenario. And you a stato!
I also like graphs. Do a graph of NTFC through its history and you'll see we haven't really moved at all, just the one briefest of spikes in over 125 years.

It is only a game of football, but what is annoying is teams lower, or the same calibre as us have started to progress. The owners have known this since they have taken over. But we keep getting relegated, then come up, and do the same again and again. Over the time they have been here they have overseen 4 promotions and 3 relegations? We havent progressed one bit, but we are still struggling at league one level while teams like Wycombe, Mansfield, Stevenage, Leyton orient, are progressing.
At any point in time you can always point to clubs that are progressing at that moment but these things move in cycles. The teams you mention will all end up sooner or later back in League 2 and by the same token so will we. You have to stop and enjoy the view when you reach the top of the wheel because that's as good as it gets. Everybody needs to grow a pair.

Why the panic? The one thing we don't need is panic signings. Leave Nolan to do his job because it's only his job at stake, not the supporters. If he fails, he'll be gone but who's to say the next man would do any better with the same resources. You need to remember that in the cycle of NTFC, we are at our pinnacle, our third season at this level since the Division 3 North days. If we succeed in staying here another season then we'll be breaking new ground. If we don't, so what, it's not the end of the world, its just a game of football, it just means we start the cycle all over again. Now breathe, and just wait and see what unfolds.

Durham v Leics abandoned. 2pts each. I think it's fair to say we've qualified for the quarter-finals. Notts are the only ones who can catch us and for that they'd have to win both matches AND turn around a massive deficit in run rate.
It's now a case of can we beat Durham Friday and earn ourselves a home tie in the quarters.

Still raining. Long time yet though before today's game is called off, they can start as late as 8:58pm and play a 5 over game. If it does get called off, it will be the first game to have been done so in the North group in this year's competition.

Okay, I've made my mind up, I'll be hoping for a Durham win tonight, on the basis that if we then beat them Friday, we'll be guaranteed a home draw in the quarter finals.
Mind you, we tend to have done better this season away from Wantage Road.

If its supposed to be 90 overs in a day, why don't they just say, start at 11am, bowl 30 overs then lunch, 30 more then tea, then 30 more before the close of play. You can take some off for end of innings or for any stoppages because of weather but I bet if the players knew they stayed out there until the 90 overs had been bowled, they'd finish on time.

Can you imagine what the posts would be like on here if you had to dumb them all down to "Mysterious" level?
I am going to the park to take the dog for a walk would become..
I, and by that I mean me, the person writing this post, am going, which means me again, moving from one place to another, to the park, now that's not a car park, that's a park for recreational purposes with grass and trees, to take the dog, now that could be my dog or it could be a neighbour or a member of my families dog and to be fair, I didn't really stipulate who the dog belonged to, for a walk. Now when I say walk, the chances are that if I let the dog off the lead then it will probably not just walk, but have a little run, do some sniffing about and probably pee up a tree.
