81  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: BBC RADIO NORTHAMPTON- THE COBBLERS SHOW on: September 01, 2018, 07:01:13 am
A decent start but...
Not sure the "fan" should be on the show for the duration, seemed brave of the producers.
Buchs has to knock "100%" on the head he seemed to say it in every sentence.
Fifty pence in the Children in Need bucket everytime he said that then our Buchs would be a poor man.
Thought the show could have had a more folky fan slot, how about Coolie with his encyclopedic guide to away boozers,
My brother and I are doing "an anecdote for every team we play" this season - (most of them seem to include our much missed friend Davcobbler)
Something like that would make the show a bit more interesting and fun my opinion.

Patt has some news!  Grin
Just about the only factual thing on this thread in the last three years!
83  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: August 30, 2018, 14:21:49 pm
I've just driven past Sixfields and I have the pleasure to announce that Re-Development HAS STARTED.
Those going Saturday WILL notice a difference!
It's a pleasure to begin the end of this thread!
84  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Unsettling the U's - Saturday 18 August on: August 16, 2018, 11:25:06 am
Not desperate for a win, but need a win if anything to settle the team, the supporters and the management down. Maybe they can then say " well we played poorly but won" or even "we were the better team and the result proved it" instead of how great we were at Wycombe/Carlisle/Lincoln when clearly we weren't. Most supporters will soon see through this from DA (many of us are not stupid) and an "us and them" situation will soon surface.

Say goodbye to some of your favourites in pre season games .
Its more than vultures hovering .
Sadly not hovering for the feed that’s being put out though
There's one or two clubs forums in for me. Obviously I can't reveal sources out of confidence however I wanted a forum nearer my home in Leicester. And the Reynard may be involved...
86  General Category / General Chat / NYC August 2018 on: July 24, 2018, 05:00:33 am
Missing the first game this sesason, due to ticking off one of the bucket list with a trip to New York. my first trip outside of Europe!
Any travel tips anyone has picked up - where to eat, where to drink, what to eat, what to drink, where I should go where I shouldn't go would be welcomed.
I know there's a million youtube travel blogs about the Big apple but interested to hear if anyone from here has any little nuggets for me.

87  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: June 15, 2018, 14:21:52 pm
Barnett signs his contract offer.

Well that's good bad news
88  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: June 08, 2018, 14:15:10 pm
I know we have the World Cup to break up the summer. But seriously I don't think I can stand a summer without the transfer rumours thread. Who doesn't enjoy all the speculation/half truths/total bollocks of it all?
89  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: MK Donkeys Home 20 Jan 18 on: January 21, 2018, 07:42:13 am
Only my fourth match this season, and second win, last one being Walsall where an almost unrecognisable team also played quite well.
So O'Donnell made some errors through the game but produced a couple of fantastic saves, of course as we won everybody wants to talk about the saves, righly so.
The two full backs were impressive although Bunney's defending not the best but pace a great asset to him. Two centre bcaks weren't without their errors either Taylor scuffed a cross field pass straight to the opposition remember? But on the whole solid enough. Midfield was where it all happened and we had the better players there simple as that. Grimes looks bound for a great career in the game, and Crooks, at well over 6ft this guy should posess everytjing to be top class, whilst not quite there yet he's getting betterwith us isn't he? Absolutely fantastic performance from O'Toole fast becoming the new "Mr Northampton Town" And Long in my opinion is a fantastic striker who will go on to better things, huge workload for the lad yesterday and of course playing away from home it will only increase. I would snap him up permanently if there was a chance!
All in all a good L1 battle added to by the comic sight of a pie fancying official waddling about the pitch. A good day despite/becuase of the weather.
90  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Walsall (H) 16th Dec on: December 17, 2017, 16:44:14 pm
As it was only my third game of the season, I can only comment on what I saw. And to be fair that was a typical blood and guts lower league game. Both teams had their bright spots, both had their low points. Pierre deserves huge credit for coming good in the second half. Obviously an horrendous mistake and never won a header first half. But after the break, a different player altogether. Also have to say I like Matt Crooks, many on here indifferent to him, but his height and guile definitely an asset. One thing of note though is despite our recruitment over the summer, our two best players are loanees Grimes - just superb yesterday, range of passing, positional sense...
Long - this boy has goals in him, I've no doubt, given the service he will be prolific.
Couldn't fault any player on effort so well done the squad and JFH.
91  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Walsall (H) 16th Dec on: December 15, 2017, 18:10:02 pm

Very happy with the result and effort of the players in securing the win but as pointed out some of our lot are carrying a bit of timber, I dont single out players but there was one lad sjprtd bursting at the seams and was left chasing shadows as he turned like the torrey canyon but slower.
Jimmy needs to crack the whip and get them up to there physical peaks.
I don't single out players? wtf are you on about? it's a football forum. You're not the manager I'm sure they won't take it personally.
94  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NEWS: Matt Taylor leaves Cobblers and signs for Swindon Town- BBC Wiltshire on: September 06, 2017, 05:21:04 am
If I was a pro player and whilst someone still wanted me damn right I would keep playing and living the dream. As someone else said you're a long time retired and fair play to anyone who has the motivation and desire to keep playing and IMO they are a credit to themselves and their profession. The problem is with the half witted managers who can't see the wood for the trees and pick players on reputation and are seduced by what they used to be. Matt Taylor also IMO couldn't keep up with the game last year and was more often than not a bystander. Most at Sixfields could see it, but that departed clown Justin Thedugout couldn't. If you keep contradicting the bleeding obvious on the basis that you must know best, won't be told and are on some deluded power trip you deserve everything you get. Add Matt Taylor to 3-5-2, R & R upfront, playing without authentic wide men having no leader on the pitch and all the other stuff JE wouldn't take onboard because he had to prove he was right. But none of that is the fault of Matt Taylor including being on the team sheet.
I kinda agree with this. I think JED sowed the seed for his sacking by picking the team he did against Shrewsbury not just Taylor, but Bowditch, Rivo. Seemed to me a new dawn was denied as he picked all his mates.
95  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Upcoming away games on: September 06, 2017, 05:16:43 am
Ticket details have been announced for some of the upcoming away games.

£23 for Rotherham on Saturday 30th.

Only a tenner for the league game at MK on the Tuesday before though. A tenner for a league game?

We'll have the usual people who will boycott, and I respect them if that's what they want to do, but how many will we take for that game do you think? Poxford took just shy of 3000 on Saturday, and we've been allocated an initial 3000 tickets for the game.
Tempted by Rotherham on payday. Easily witter away some hard earned in Sheffield before rocking up to the NY.
96  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Radio Northampton on: September 06, 2017, 05:04:30 am
So Jimmy what's your favourite colour, have you ever been to Plymouth?

97  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: OT: Good Read - Transfer Deadline Day on: September 05, 2017, 05:21:14 am
For what its worth Wilder is crazy imo not to resign Ricky Holmes, £60000 these days is nothing to these top clubs.... as we all know he is one of the best attacking players in the lower leagues.
CW's opinion that £600k was too much last season in L2 would be right inmho. And now they're in the Championship same applies as the guy has not played at that level. This isn't to say I don't agree with your statement. The most exciting Cobblers player in 30 years.
98  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Welcome Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on: September 05, 2017, 05:16:24 am
JFH's first team selection will say so much to the fans.

My advice; do not start with Revell and Rico up front.
Play players in their best positions.
Entertain the fans with some attacking football.

Over to JFH !
r
To be honest although KT says he "knows nothing about the football side of things" I think he should tip JFH off before we kick a ball and I'm sure some of the players will too. It doesn't work with this crop and thats fact. But think about it Rico and Revs Poole Taylor Pierre Barnett are probably gonna say they love 5-3-2 aren't they?
99  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Radio Northampton on: September 05, 2017, 05:12:25 am
Hopefully, they'll get ANYONE but Densley to interview him...else it could get very embarrassing!

Can just imagine her cringeworthy line of negative questioning...

Do you think it was unfair to sack the previous manager?
Why have you not joined a bigger club than NTFC?
Do you think NTFC can ever win a game followed straight away by asking will NTFC win the league?

She ain't got a scooby!  Roll Eyes
I can't see a problem with those questions.
And they appear to be questions that you have come up with. To say she hasn't a clue if she asks questions that you have thought she might ask is the daftist thing I have read on this thread.
Easily embarrassed aren't you?
100  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Regan Poole on: September 02, 2017, 05:56:44 am
With JJ and Foley injured I would play him as an anchor midfielder, can tackle, mobile and pass well.
Then he becomes a Ben Tozer..
