601  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: AFC Bornmuff on: August 26, 2014, 22:52:12 pm
Just got in from the game, left after the third went in, we were second best all over the pitch by a very wide margin. Could and should have been a much larger margin, played a bit better second half but lack of goals is becoming a concern. Richards missed a sitter of a header whilst unmarked and might just have got us bac in the game.
Bournemouth were never in any danger and we posed absolutely no threat to them. Clearly they are a good Championship squad but we really don't have any depth in the squad.
602  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Shrewsbury match thread on: August 23, 2014, 18:42:26 pm
Almost 4 hours in the car today to get to the game and get served up that dross. First 20 mins we looked good after that, no clue. Unable to keep the ball, poor passing, nobody go take on a man, always passing back.  What was Tozer doing for the goal!
There is a lack of depth in some key positions in the squad. Toney clearly not ready to be playing every week, very poor game from him, and on the bench Moyo and Sinclair ( who is supposed to be on his way out).
Very disappointing day.
603  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (A) 19.08.14 on: August 20, 2014, 13:13:27 pm
Blimey Everbrite, I would fully concur with your observations from last night.
604  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (A) 19.08.14 on: August 20, 2014, 05:08:40 am
Yes, have to agree, they had much better movement all over the pitch, they kept the ball and passed it well, we again gave it away quite cheaply. Huffed and puffed all night, Toney and Richards largely ineffective. Alfie looked responsible for the first goal (again) similar to Wolves, you wonder if Tozer would gave provided more protection. Thought the okay had gone out of play for the first, Alfie was on the line and the ball had moved the other side of him. In reality we didn't create much at all, thought O'Toole was our best player. Clearly Portsmouth are a good side but lack of creativity is visiting us and we are looking quite ordinary. Another tough game on Saturday hopefully we can bounce back but a lot of pressure on Toney to perform and interesting to see Moyo come on but in reality added nothing to the team
605  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Capital One Cup 2014-15 on: August 14, 2014, 05:18:29 am
Whilst initially disappointing I think this does give us an opportunity. No pressure on us to win, attack like we did at Wolves and we could win this, they will probably rest some players and if we do get through even greater chance of a big club and TV money.  We have a reasonable recent record here too.
606  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: John Joe O'Toole on: August 09, 2014, 20:51:29 pm
Agree Ralph, thought we were very laboured in the first half and O'Toole wasn't involved and when he did get the ball often made the wrong choice. But hopefully early days and his quality will shine through.

Excellent post, I actually still think some of our problems were there last season but were papered over by many very fortunate marginal wins/ draws, often down to Nicholls and of course the cracks finally materialised at Wembley. Wilder has done a superb job, almost starting a season again, I was really annoyed with the Football League show when they intimated he should have got us safe earlier!
I actually think the football has been really pretty good over the final quarter of the season, I think Wilder can take us on from here, just hope we actually make a couple of signings for cash to show our intent.
We really need Marquis or someone of similar ilk for this Division, let's hope Toney can continue go progress. I'm still nervous about Sinclair, I've still seen nothing go indicate he adds much to the team, it's clearly not about service as Toney has already demonstrated.
Optimistic about next season.
608  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Dagenham - The most important game since the last most important game! on: April 26, 2014, 19:37:01 pm
Great result, great effort from all involved, hopefully we secure the points we need next weekend.
609  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Good News (No Really) on: April 26, 2014, 05:00:01 am
Fantastic post and research, hopefully we can win today as a reward to the excellent expected turnout and if the others call by the wayside all well and good. Let's cheer on the lads today with another sea of claret.
610  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tactics and Goal Threat on: April 22, 2014, 18:14:35 pm
I certainly hope not, it must gall the other players which I've no doubt do actually care about the situation to see Sinclair not even going through the motions.
611  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (h) The most important game since 1993. on: April 22, 2014, 06:16:39 am
Razor, Absolutely agree about Sinclair, I for one won't be buying a season ticket all the time Sinclair is anywhere near the team.
612  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tactics and Goal Threat on: April 22, 2014, 06:13:24 am
Absolutely the effort was there yesterday and on occasions some good skill was also demonstrated, we had 4 or 5 good goals coring opportunities but a combination of their keeper and dome poor finishing did for us.
if we play like we dud in the second half then we will get opportunities, I really don't want to see Sinclair in a Cobblers shirt again, we were carrying him in the first half. Much rather have Connell who has some skill and demonstrates the effort required
613  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tactics and Goal Threat on: April 21, 2014, 20:16:07 pm
My apologies, yes it was the FA cup replay! But he played ok. He won some good flicks today but really can't see him being the goal threat to act alongside Marquis for the next two games. As for Connell, he did have one cleared off the line at Accrington and again did far more in that game than Sinclair did who remember also missed another opportunity, fortunately if wasn't costly on that occasion. I don't get the Lopez situation, why sign him if there is no intention of playing him?
614  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (h) The most important game since 1993. on: April 21, 2014, 19:00:45 pm
No wish from me Everbrite, it's you that's had your head in the sand, I hope to god we still pull clear and if we can win next week then I think we can go to that last game and do it.
615  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (h) The most important game since 1993. on: April 21, 2014, 18:52:35 pm
Everbrite will still clapping as we descend into the Skrill Premier ( it's not even got a proper name any longer).
616  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Tactics and Goal Threat on: April 21, 2014, 18:50:34 pm
Monty, wrong.

For those of us at the Bradford Cup replay Toney played and we scored 3 goals and very nearly stopped Bradford get to Wembley but for an injury time equaliser.
617  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Portsmouth (h) The most important game since 1993. on: April 21, 2014, 18:25:24 pm
We have to go again, we are no worse off than the start today and must get min 4 points from next 2 games. We were by far the better side today, why didn't Connell play, Sinclair should have been dropped we can all see he is disinterested, why can't Wilder see it, it's something I would expect from Boothroyd. Marquis was unlucky, great save from their keeper when he tried to lob him. Toney did more in 45 mins than I've Sinclair do in the last 5 games,MHD May well have just cost us our League status!
618  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Time for Moyo on: April 20, 2014, 19:14:20 pm
I think Hooper is also at Farnborough and is scoring on a regular basis, that is probably his level.
619  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Time for Moyo on: April 19, 2014, 05:41:17 am
Problem is with Sinclair, we did put the ball into him on at least a couple of occasions yesterday and he still did nothing with it, Crawley fans can't understand why we took him either so don't think its anything to do with us. As for the long list of Strikers who have 'failed' not sure we paid money for any of them, they were all pretty much other teams cast offs for a reason.
620  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Our Idiot Fans on: April 19, 2014, 05:35:54 am
Clearly his misjudgement extends beyond just comments about the team and our previous Manager!
