Soon as June 30 hits we’ll see loads of transfer activity from all teams as that’s when 95% of players contracts expire. Lots of teams will have agreed deals in principe with players and will announce it from tomorrow

So angry with tonight’s result. Morecambe are fuxxxxg s***.
The team on paper is good enough to compete in this league. It comes down to the managers inability to get the best out of them.
Now on borrowed time I feel. It’s going to really knock confidence this. Not sure if the players will be fully behind him after this fxxxing horror show.

Well today was everything that I love and hate about the Cobblers.
First half - we were pretty abject until we scored. Infact I feared the worst when we went 1-0 down with chants of “what the fxxxng hell is this?” Our equaliser was well worked by Williams’s and a first goal for Van Veen to hopefully kick start his Cobblers career. The first half whistle came too soon as we started to impose ourselves after the equaliser with confidence returning.
Second half - started really well, played some great stuff and fully deserved our goal. The equaliser was the typical “most vulnerable after you score” situation where we switched off.
However from this point what frustrated me most was Dean Austin making those substitutions. Bowditch for Powell was baffling as we had been completely on top and a substitution definitely wasn’t needed. The goal we conceded was a sucker punch and he should of left the players to see if they could respond, taking Powell off when he had been getting some joy down the left made no sense (as a side note, Bowditch looks a better footballer at this level than at league one but he certainly is no wide player). What made less sense was taking Williams off for Billy Waters. I like Billy but in the second half Williams and Van Veen complimented each other well and held up, distributed, headed on and moved well in equal measure. Waters did precisely nothing.
As a result of the equaliser but more (in my opinion) down the substitutions disrupting the team direction, we lost our way and despite a few half chances, Carlisle looked like they would snatch an unlikely winner. However everyone sees the game differently - whilst walking to my car, I heard some Carlisle fans saying “that was 2 points dropped”! Overall, I think a draw was a fair result based on both teams having solid periods on top.
Going through the team, Cornell was OK - nothing more nothing less, I can’t see him winning is many points and worryingly I can see him costing us points. Surely can’t be the number one?
Odoffin - terrible. I don’t rate him at all. Poor positioning, poor distribution, no great surprise that Carlisle targeted that side consistently. Need Facey back ASAP!
Taylor - a rock, wins almost everything in the air, a leader, passionate. Yes, he doesn’t have the best distribution and has limited pace but I hope he remains with us for the rest of his career. A great lower division player.
Pierre - a poor mans Taylor, just without the passion but a little more pace.
Buchs - solid. A lot goes through him and he has a steadiness to him and the back line.
Hoskins - really didn’t see much of the ball, got in a few times around the back. Problem was that when we lack confidence and have our backs to the game, we tend to send diagonal balls to him which he’ll never win due to his size. I would question if Bowditch may play a more effective role on this side, particularly away from home when we need someone who can hold the ball and play in from the flanks.
Powell - had a good early chance that he steered wide, played well when the team played well. As above, shocked he was taken off.
Crookes - as we know, a massively frustrating player to watch. Looks disinterested so much of the time but has natural ability. Needs someone very industrious next to him to allow him freedom - JJ is not that man.
JJOT - I love the guy but a rigid centre mid position is not his role, particularly with someone like Crookes along side him. Distributed the ball well but rarely able to get forward to be effective.
Williams - was really impressed with him. Good work rate, has the ability to beat a man and will certainly score goals this season. Again, ridiculous decision to sub him for the ineffective Waters.
Van Veen - Star Man - was excellent, everything people said he wasn’t. Worked hard for the team, chased things down, held the ball well, ran with it, created chances. Led by example. Really massively impressed and I have changed my opinion on him. Took his goal well.

Wisdom of buying him is questionable, but certainly us being skint isn't true. Would be on massive wages at City and the Dutch team he was playing for in the season were speculating that it would take a million to make the loan permanent.
Facey’s Contract at City was £1700 a week. Not sure what deal we’ve put together for him but suspect it’s a bit less with normal incentives/bonuses built in.

James Hanson signs for bury It’s getting exciting now as the day goes by Who will be our goal 🥅 getter
This is a great signing for Bury, only just turned 30 and knows league 1 very well. Based on his career stats, if he starts all of the remaining games for Bury he should net 6-7 goals and be credited for around the same in assists. Nice loan deal, real shame we couldn't have got him in. I suppose being up north suited him. :-(

Just got back (I live in Lincoln so a nice easy jaunt for me!) - I got in and paid at the ground btw ;-)
Just read people comments on here and I think it's a tad harsh. The first half was similar to the first half of the chuckle trade match last week. A weakened team, devoid of any real quality, a very limited attacking threat and only really Crooks could take any credit in the oppositions half. That said I thought taylor continued with his normal dominance and organisation at the back, Cornell was solid and there was the moment of magic that opened us up. He hit it so hard I was convinced it had hit the side netting but fair play. You have to applaud that, he'll never hit one like that again in his career! Scunny absolutely deserved their lead at half time.
Second half we certainly came back into it, defended well and attacked with more purpose and direction. Crooks held up the ball and distributed well. Smith became a greater outlet on the left and tried his best with limited skill set to get the ball in the box. Bowditch on the opposite flank worked hard but is a very average footballer and despite his best attempts you felt when it went right for him, even he was surprised he'd pulled it off.
McWilliams struggled a little at right back in my opinion and got caught out of position a few times. It will be nice to get him back in the middle of the park to not stunt his development. Foley I thought had a much improved game and tried to carry the ball more. Kasim is a lumbering, luxury player who, with time, is a good passer of the ball but we are often found wanting with him in the middle as he has no real speed to keep up, track back and is often bypassed in the middle.
Rico puts himself about but again, he cannot play the lone role any longer. With support higher up the pitch, particularly when crooks became a target man and with better calibre players (as demonstrated with JJOT & McG came on) he seems more comfortable to play off and becomes more effective.
The comments slating team line up tonight is just a little short sighted. Jimmy is just trying to rotate squad members and rest key players in the team for more important league battles ahead. Don't get me wrong a cup run is nice but certainly not important and I think his general direction was to nullify Sc***horpe and even be willing to chase a 1-0 down and push the likes of foley, Bowditch, kasim, smith, Rico etc for as long as possibly without using key subs. It nearly worked as well. Crooks put a good effort narrowly wide from inside the box and so nearly prodded home late on after a nice inter change with him and Rico. Waters had a chance after a mazy run and Foley should have done better with a free header on the 6 yard box.
Tough on them tonight but congrats to Sc***horpe. They edged it with their first half display and their moment of quality was enough.

Dropped a clanger here and haven't bought my ticket for myself and my daughter. Can I purchase away tickets at the ground or can I possibly call Northampton in the morning. I live in Lincoln so can't just pop down to Sixfields.

I think we sadly have to accept that we're done for and relegated. It's fast turning into a living nightmare. There's one thing losing but not even giving the fans something to cheer with a goal is another matter. We can't sack JFH after only 2 months so we'll have to at least wait till Christmas and see if anything is recoverable with a large injection of funds from the Chinese and possibly a new boss I suppose. So depressing.
