Lumping it up to BAS is just a hopeless way of playing. Even when he does get to the first ball he either heads it to no-one and they mop it up, or he gets muscled off it. If we wanted to keep playing this way we should have been loaning BAS to Motherwell and keeping Smith as an off-the-bench option.

Having no commentary on is really enlightening in some ways because you can hear every word from KC...what's weird is that he's spent at least half the game barking personal instructions at Mills. Why he's singling him out I'm not quite sure, but it's to the point where I wouldn't want to critique Mills on his performance, because he doesn't seem to have any personal freedom to decide what he does with the ball when he gets it or even which side of the man he's marking to stand on at a set piece!

Can someone tell me when we played exiting football in the third decision and got positive results out of it? I'm not certain it would be this side of me being born.
We played some pretty good stuff under Gray and got a top half finish at this level.

We were poor and deserved to lose. I agree with all the comments here about the suicidal policy of sitting back on a lead. However, Joe Martin played well today and has been decent THIS season as a left sided centre back (definitely not as left back). He DEFINITELY shouldn't have been sent off as he was fouled from behind causing him to crash into their player. Should have been a yellow for their player. That's why he complained so bitterly after the sending off. Very poor decision. As for Max Dyche, he was excellent when he came on.
Sorry but Martin has already started to dive in to that tackle before he gets the shove in the back - the shove maybe causes his studs to go higher than they otherwise would have done, but still a mistimed, high challenge and one that if it were made on our player, you'd be screaming for at least a yellow. I'm also not sure where this perception has come from on here that he's played well this season. I can remember one game where he put a really good performance in and actually helped us get some points, which was at Shrewsbury. At Bristol Rovers, Plymouth, Oxford City and again today, he's had shockers. After today's showing I'd rather see more of Dyche.

If I'm honest, though I hope for better, I don't really expect it. We are Northampton Town, your bog standard bottom two tier club.
Until we find a goose to lay a golden egg.... this is it. I've seen us build two decent teams in the last 35 years, both times we romped the league. Cue instant dismantling and plop, back down we go again.
The only people with any desire for continued success are us, the fans
I would take that point entirely if we weren't producing this s***e against the likes of Crewe, Accrington, Bristol Rovers etc, who also fall firmly within the category you just described. Just because we're a bog-standard League One / Two club doesn't mean we should accept anti-football, there's no reason why we can't have a go at other similar sized clubs.

We fully deserved that. The only person I feel slightly sorry for is Steve Arnold.
Hopefully this is the last we'll see of Joe Martin. Think I'd rather have Sean Dyche's 14 year old daughter at centre half, never mind his 17 year old son.

Judging by the strength of Martin's tackle and then the shock on his face when the red came out, I think we can only assume he had forgotten that he'd already been booked. What an absolute liability he has been this season.

If I were a neutral I'd be desperate to see us lose this. Negative crap, against a team trying to actually play some decent football. But I'm not a neutral, so...f*** Crewe, let's have another 45 mins of s**thousery please
