I do miss the atmosphere of the County ground!

I appreciate that this is all subjective but a 'B' when we lose for match day experience is somewhat generous! 

It is utterly bizarre how our most expensive player (who is apparently fit) is commentating for another team when we are playing.

Nothing is ever asked about the situation, I would put a full English pound that Brady has told the media people he deals with 'not too bring up Danny Hylton'.

On the face of it, and what we know...he is without doubt the most disastrous free transfer signing the club has ever made. He also appears to just 'not give a fcuk'.

VERY strange! Even the Luton fans replying to that tweet mention about him playing for us!

I didn't go and for the first time this season, didn't listen/watch it online. I actually went to Rushden and Diamonds who blooded a new keeper who somehow was even worse than a combination of Mitchell and our loan star. Ironically his name was Louis as well.

But yeah. Dadge for me next week. This chap we've currently got simply doesn't cut it at this level. His distribution is woeful, he's mistake prone and he hardly ever makes a save.

Dadge is 18 I think...the same age as the Newcastle keeper was when he was playing for us. Give him his chance. Absolutely do not buy into it that it will shunt his development if he struggles. If he's good enough, he will 'make it' regardless. He looked decent pre-season when I saw him. Lets give him his chance...the bloke we are currently playing is costing us points so there's nothing to lose.

Like the team (it appears) I've lost interest now. I was going to go to Reading but have dumped that idea now. Ill see out the home games minus Port Vale because Im away but this season is done and dusted now. Its a shame but phytologically the players don't have the desire now and I cant see that changing. They've lost their edge. It happens to most mid table teams around this time of the season.

Every team in a battle to stay up or a battle to go up wants to play a midtable side. We are now 'that' midtable side!

Players & Management - A - this is relative to budget/size of our club etc. And what I've seen over the last 35 years or so. The current group are at least on a par with the most likeable lot we've had, they usually play good football etc etc.

Ownership - C - They are fine. Its a difficult one to mark because this really does come down to how much £ the owners spend and how engaged they are. I think they have stabilised us, on and off the pitch. They are though, of course investor owners. Clearly we would all prefer owners who are here purely for the football. That said, they have shown good loyalty to all the managers we've had and not just hired and fired like many do. The staff also are very very motivated so they must be decent folk to work for which they rarely get any credit for. Bills are always paid. We are well respected throughout football, that is obvious. The Chinese saga obviously gives them a black mark and there is also projects I feel they could have sanctioned during their tenure that would have improved things but for whatever reason they haven't (eg fan's village)

Facilities - E - Sixfields is in the bottom 20% at this level, for sure. Hopefully this will not be the case in 12 months time.

Match Day Experience - C - a fans village like Saints have got would shove that up to an A. I don't give a dam what happens at HT!

Community - A - brilliant

Do I feel part of the club? - A - absolutely.

As a fan, of course Id have loved them to have splashed out to *try and make up the deficit and earn a play off place. However, the likelihood would have been a few hundred grand out of pocket as a result of doing so. Which is still the most likely outcome as far as Lincoln is concerned. Time will tell on that. Their current chances of promotion are surely no better than a 1 in 6 shot or thereabouts. At best.

BUT if that g@mble had meant the money coming off next seasons budget if it didn't pay off, Id rather that we kept our powder dry and spend it in the summer.

I fully understand Marvo's view point and Id too love to see us have a stab at tier2. I just don't expect someone else to spend their money on my hobby, basically. That isn't a vain pop at Marvo either, we are all coming from it from one angle and debating it. Which is a good thing. Its also interesting.

I reckon it will be Derby, Pompey and Bolton that will go up. Maybe scum, at a push. But 3 from those 4...

Even I found myself joining in with the 'Forrrwwarrrrd' brigade. It was slow, cumbersome and painful to watch.

Blackpool were (based on the balance of play) 2 goals better than us, we really didn't create anything of note whilst they at least had their moments.

They didn't have to get out of first gear to beat us.

The thing is, many of us could see this coming once we appeared to be safe. The bite hasn't just left the team, its also left the crowd. Last night was very flat both on and off the pitch.

Brady I thought was very generous in his appraisal last night. All that said, I did say before last night that the target was 14 points. Based on wins versus Fleetwood, Carlisle, Port Vale and Exeter. Draws versus Wycombe and Reading. And defeats versus Blackpool, Derby and Barnsley. Of course its unlikely they will be achieved in that order but last night was one of three 'free hits' remaining. I was disappointed more in the manner of the defeat than the defeat itself. Lets hope for something far better on Saturday.

Bertie's link is an interesting article, one I was going to quote myself until I got to the end of the thread.

We are in the perfect storm. More labour (particularly in the care/health sector) is needed to service the aging as well as increasing population. More homes are needed to house those coming in to the country to work. More schools are needed to educate their kids. More roads are needed. Etc etc etc.

Take Northamptonshire as an example. The roads now struggle to cope with the traffic on them, much more so than 20 years ago. The infrastructure just doesn't keep up with the extra population, particularly when a large part of it isn't working.

So to grow the economy we need more people. Because if we don't get them, then wages will go up and get out of control. Supply and demand will see to that. But with more people, you are simply feeding the need to spend more money on catering for them.

I am quite surprised that this angle to the 'debate' hasn't made it into the house of commons yet. Its really not rocket science. The more our population grows, ultimately we will be worse off for it. Because taxes will just keep going up because the money being generated by these extra people who join the economy gets offset by those who come here not too contribute combined with those already here that stop/no longer work etc.

Is it 90 odd years (forgive me for not being specific) since we were last taxed this much? Of course covid has a lot to answer for that, but in my opinion that just accelerated the inevitable.

The NHS/Health service is NEVER talked about in a negative way in msm or politically because 'it wouldn't be nice to do that, eh'! The only thing discussed is how much money is spent on it. That's it. Whereas most people will acknowledge that it just isn't fit for purpose anymore. There is no plan to change that, just chuck more £ into it. We have the same thing every election. The whole thing needs to be totally revamped. Thats another topic on its own, obviously.

Back to the specific topic of immigration. I can honestly not even start too think what really should be done, because I don't have the numbers too hand in order to be able to work out a sustainable model. No one does, certainly not the general public. So how we can even really discuss it other than to go with our usual ideologies is beyond me. Which is why I am completely neutralised over it. I cannot comment on something when I do not have the right knowledge to do so.

Until everything is opened up (and no political party seems to be interested in doing that) then all we will continue to hear is from right wing and left wing bigots rattling on about the usual historical points they make and always have made. With zero basis to what they are actually saying.

My hunch is that we will have a further number of years of real economic struggle. Not just because of our own situation but because of global reasons as well. The crazy stuff that was going on during covid has made sure of that. We will probably see more wars because they generate decent wedge for certain countries/big players. Its all a complete and utter load of b0llox!  

Im not sure that tactics/formations etc were too blame for last night.

All things considered. If our players had been as 'up for it' as Boro were, we'd have probably lost by about 2-0 or 3-1. Because they are simply far better than us.

If we had a decent keeper and our first choice fullbacks had both been available, we'd maybe have lost by the odd goal.

For us to have won, we'd need all of our players to be right on it, and for Boro to have had a collective off day. Maybe we'd have needed some luck as well, like we arguably got when Mitch scored in the reverse fixture.

Over analysing it isn't worth it, I certainly hope Brady isn't. Show more desire and passion (like we have done for the vast majority of this season) in each of the remaining 10 fixtures. Get our best players fit again. And finish the season strongly.

Brady will know that teams are targeting Brough at the minute. Boro were not the first to do so. So its a double edged sword. He's getting more attention, and therefore struggling further. I don't think we've got an answer to it, other than perhaps try and keep the ball as much over the other side of the pitch as we can. At least then they will have to play a couple of passes before the ball goes near him! 

In all seriousness though, perhaps screening him with McWilliams (eg) might help. We've got to stop the supply chain to opponents right hand side. I felt sorry for him last night, they were doubling up on him. He didn't stand much of a chance...

Anyone voting for him deserves everything coming their way if he gets back into power! As will the rest of us! Hopefully sense will win out and he’ll lose again

This cycle (in the UK Im talking about) will continue until a fairer voting system is implemented. Which of course it wont be. Because it doesn't favour either of the big two players. Of course things are different in the States, in that they've managed to find (subjective I admit) two even more terrible candidates than what we've got!

Perfect storm last night. Boro played brilliantly whilst we were...errrmmm....awful! With and without the ball.

Most observations have been made but Ill add to the one which irritated me the most...

I can accept when we are poor with the ball. That happens. Players do not perform at their top level week in, week out. However, it was without the ball that got me. Boro won pretty much every 50/50, every ball that dropped down from the sky, the pressed better than us. Swarmed us when we did win the ball. We did none of that. They simply looked (considerably) more up for it than we did!

Now, that hasn't happened often this season. In fact, only a handful of times. So for it to happen last night (of all nights) is what is baffling. We were considerably stronger on paper than we were in any of the other games we got battered. Indeed, versus Derby, Stevenage, Pompey (twice)...there was mitigation. Different levels of it each time. But last night, other than not being able to field a proper right back (all 3 of the first half goals came from the other side which is worth pointing out) and a 'senior' goalkeeper we were pretty much at full strength. With good options sat on the bench.

In summary. I cant defend last nights no show. I don't think Brady can. However, it does happen. But why at bloody Peterborough when they should have been right up for it (like they were)?

Anyway, see some of you at Cambridge. Hopefully we will get a reaction. They owe us after last night, regardless of how well they've done throughout the season in the main.

Ref Brough. He's alright against the poorer sides but it seemed that they targeted him last night. Food for thought for sure. And our keeper just doesn't look good enough. He's quite simply prone too errors, and his distribution is absolutely awful!

A goal every 213 minutes this season for Appere. Much better than either Simpson or Bowie...who were both very poor yesterday.

Is that because of the proliferation of foreign players at the top end of the game? Bearing in mind that we tend to rely upon British players, are we getting those who would have been the standard to have played in the old First Division, as in the top tier of the pyramid?

Im not so sure. I think there is a bit of that. But squads these days are double the size than they were in the 80's. Probably treble/quadruple in the premiership.

Remember the old team photos? There wouldn't be more than about 18 in any of them!

35 games gone and not much has changed, the top three starting to build a gap which has to be expected given where they finished.

What I will say. I didn't witness the Bowen era. But our current side looks the most 'league1-ish' team I've seen from a Cobblers side. It just looks soooo comfortable at this level. Carrs team started off brilliantly but once Morley was sold (Adcock was a very decent part of that deal for us to be fair) we did start to look like we were relying on momentum and desire more so than ability, as the season went on. Atkins team was ALL ABOUT desire, passion etc.

Brady's lot actually looks like it belongs at this level. Id say our current side is the most technically gifted side we've had at this level in the last 50 years. That I believe will be Brady's legacy. Building a team that can actually play football in the 3rd tier, which we've perhaps never really had before, with the exception (I assume) of Bowens team in the 60's. Grays team relied on the physicality of Bayo and Hubertz rather than actual technical ability.
