Its not a case of giving up, it's a case of can't be arsed. When you spend a couple of hours delving through the records to try and come up with what you believe would be something of interest to supporters of the club which might provoke a discussion and all people (like yourself) can do is complain about the amount of threads on here, it kind of wears you down. I don't need it.

Bye then - I certainly won't miss you, although I'm not sure you're capable of leaving this messagboard. Where else will you get so much attention?

I'm going for Sherring. Excellent throughout and 2 goalline clearances. Strong performances from the whole team with special mentions for Sowerby, Appere and McGowan.

Fantastic game for us. I was on a knifeedge from the moment we scored. S***housery from us? Definitely and to the point of embarassment at times. I would have been livid if the opposition had wasted time and feigned injury as much as we did yesterday, to be honest.

On the other side, every player ran his heart out and there were some outstanding contributions. McGowan's influence is there for all to see. I was one who thought he was surplus to requirements in League 1, but he's been at the heart of some of our best wins and I now hope he stays. We looked pretty solid, should have had a clear penalty, hit the post and defended like demons - riveting viewing and we deserved to win. A memorable game and result. Well done to all concerned! UTC!
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The 'Clare Balding' POTS Wycombe (a) March 16th 2024 on: March 16, 2024, 17:21:08 pm
Thought the back line all played well despite the result. I'll go for Monthe
5  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Wycombe (a) Sat. 16th March on: March 16, 2024, 17:02:53 pm
Surely worth giving Dadge a go now, can’t be worse than Moulden, a complete shocker from the recruitment department.

Disappointing today as Wycombe looked bang average and we were as good as them for the whole game really. However, some poor passing when it counted let us down a bit, apart from giving away 2 poor goals.

Have to agree that Dadge deserves a start. Moulden certainly should have stopped the second goal and maybe the first too. I do feel Burge would have saved both. It must be time to give Dadge a turn. I'm sure Moulden will become a good keeper in time, but, like any position on the field, goalkeepers should be dropped if their form dips. Now is a good time to see whether Dadge can make the grade with relatively little at stake.
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ups & downs on: March 15, 2024, 18:34:12 pm
I'd like 3 teams worse than us to come down and 4 others worse than us to come up. Is that wishful thinking?
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The 'Clare Balding' POTS Cambridge (a) March 9th 2024 on: March 10, 2024, 19:31:12 pm
Simpson for me. Did well all afternoon and was surprised he was subbed. Just a mention for Lintott too, who was decent in defence and one of our main threats going forward. If he can improve the defensive side of his game he could become a very good player at this level.
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Injury Updates.... on: March 10, 2024, 10:12:47 am
new physio already got Sowerby, Mcwazza and Hoskins fit, now for the rest (all the right backs)

Not yet sure that any of these are 100% fit yet. None of them seem to be getting through a full game.
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge Away 9th March on: March 10, 2024, 09:54:20 am
Game changed when Brady took Hoskins off( who was at fault for the first goal) we suddenly started playing football linking passes and all over them, Hoskins isn’t fit, why take Tyreece off and leave the scamp on is beyond me.

Usual anti-Hoskins stuff from you. We were already playing much better before he went off. He maybe could have done better for the first goal but those at fault were the 3 defenders in the centre who failed to pick up a lone striker standing in the middle of the box six yards out for the simplest of finishes. Hoskins has not been at his best since returning from injury, and was rightly subbed, but that's no excuse for making things up.

Very good second half performance. Much more energy and Bowie, in particular, was transformed. Well worth a point and should really have won. Cambridge will struggle to stay up on this showing.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge Away 9th March on: March 09, 2024, 15:43:37 pm
Yeeeessssss! Well deserved based on 2nd half so far
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge Away 9th March on: March 09, 2024, 14:54:20 pm
Poor, so far. We are clearly the better team, but we are lacking energy again. Cambridge look very ordinary and we should be able to get something out of the match, but we need more intensity. Bowie once again looks out of sorts and nothing like as combative as usual. Woeful defending for their goal. Their main striker left completely alone six yards out. Must do better second half. UTC!!
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Charlton Sat 2nd March. on: March 03, 2024, 15:01:14 pm
I have a soft spot for Appere, because he's a skillful player and I enjoy watching players like him. In fact he's more skillful than Bowie, but  Bowie is more effective, because on his day he can influence a game much more, with his pace, energy and strength to hold off opponents and bring others in.

Louis hasn't been at his best recently either. To become a real asset at this level Appere would need to become physically stronger and in particular learn to head the ball. I fear that won't happen, if it hasn't already. A striker who never wins headers must be almost unheard of in the lower divisions.

I think he'd be useful to offer another contract to, but probably as a squad player, at least at League 1 level.

Sherring for me. We have other good centre backs , but he's a cut above. A mention for Hondermarck, who, as happened earlier in the season, gets better the more game time he has. I still think he's one for the future.
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Burton Albion away 24.02.24 on: February 24, 2024, 15:59:04 pm
Very calm and professional performance. Great result. Burton looked like we used to under Curle when we were struggling in League One. So glad we don't play that way any more. UTC!!
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Burton Albion away 24.02.24 on: February 24, 2024, 14:37:47 pm
2-0. Superb strike from Pinnock!!!!
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oxford United A Now 20.02.24, not 20.01.24 on: February 20, 2024, 20:48:34 pm
Great result. Didn't see whole match, but thought McWilliams looked really good when he came on. UTC!!
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Leyton Orient (a) Tues 13th Feb on: February 15, 2024, 07:03:40 am
Very disappointing in defence against Orient. 3 great goals from us went to waste. I still like Lintott and hope he'll become a real asset. He has been poor in defence since coming back, and has to improve that if he's going to cut it at this level. Still think he's a great asset going forward though. McGowan overall is much more solid at the moment and we really need him. nover thought I'd be saying that a year ago, so full credit to him.

I like Ben Fox too, but he's clearly not up to speed yet. Responsible for Bolton's goal on Saturday and for Orient's second, by simply not marking his man, and leaving him with a free header. Hope he's not injured though, because I'm sure he'll be back to his old self soon.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bolton Wanderers (h) on: February 11, 2024, 17:13:00 pm
Do you honestly not know the difference between whether a player starts or not?

Try finding a result in the league where Hoskins hasn't featured and we lost.

Do you henestly not realise that you've just asked a question that has nothing to do with what I posted?
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bolton Wanderers (h) on: February 11, 2024, 15:05:25 pm
Do you know what Marvo, I was thinking exactly the same thing about Hoskins, the team always seems to play better when he’s not in it, more passing more fluid movement etc.

Yes, we know what you and Marvo think, despite you writing as if this idea only occurred to you yesterday. You both bring it up every time Hoskins doesn't play, if we put in a half decent performance. He didn't play most of the match against Portsmouth either, and how did that go? Personally, I think we did OK yesterday and we got a result, but I think it was a long way from being one of our best performances.
