A striker not wanted by a mediocre Championship club is hardly likely to set L2 alight. I'd rather see Courtney get an opportunity.

It wouldn't increase the gates. The comparison with Saints doesn't work because if you are a rugby fan in, say, Suffolk or Norfolk, the Saints is your 'local' professional club. R & D are struggling to attract 1,000 for home games, same for Kettering. How many of those would bother to travel to Sixfields to watch Northamptonshire FC. The only way to increase the gates is to rise up the table and through the divisions. If a billionaire arrived tomorrow he could achieve this through NTFC as easily as through an amalgamated club. If no knight in shining armour arrives it won't happen, regardless of our name or amalgamations.

I for one thought it would be off and clearly the club did late on Friday. Congratulations to the club's staff for their hard work. Let's praise them instead of moaning about the programme. The latter is for trainspotters only. Most of the contents has either been on the internet already, or local radio. anyway. I'd rather the club concentrated its money on getting the game staged than on a £3 glossy magazine.

It will surely also depend on Stockport being able to get down safely. I think that the match is unlikely to go ahead unless there is a dramatic change in the weather tomorrow (which is not expected).

Why wasn't the keeper sent off? From the official site: "a moment of real controversy moments later when home keeper Annerson was only booked for handling the ball outside the area. Those fans who have seen some of the red cards issued to the Cobblers in the last few weeks would have been surprised at the decision given that Craig King was about to take the ball away from the keeper and head on towards goal."

So now we know for sure: the FA speak Double Dutch. They are saying he should not have been sent off but are cheering up the ref by keeping the red card on record. A bit like deciding that a killer is innocent, should be released from prison immediately, but that his criminal record will remain. What a load of Cobblers!

Replay against Gillingham with 17 year old Belfon coming off the bench to score twice. It gave us a home tie against the then European Cup holders. Cracking atmosphere at the County Ground that night.

FA Cup ties had a real magic about them. Hard to believe how much was lost by Man United not entering the competition that one year. It's never been quite the same since. At least not for me, and gates have dramatically dipped. Home ties against Rugby and Telford with a packed Spion Kop. Both ended in draws. An away tie at Brentford - Adie Mann's debut? Villa at home was great. Somehow for me the magic has lessened - middle age, or something else?

This four day bonanza needs to become a long unbeaten run. Hopefully the performances of Gilligan and Guinan tonight will quieten a few of the boo-boys.

Congratulations to the 217 hardy souls who made it up there. I asked the Chron guy on the live commentary whether we could repeat last season's great run: [Comment From Rodders] I asked earlier if you think we are capable of a good run like last season. What do you think?
Jefferson Lake: Definitely. The spine of the team (well, midfield and defence) all of a sudden looks very solid. Having Beckwith back has been huge.
