The Chron man seems to think that Cornell had a reasonable game between the sticks. What is the take on this by those who were actually there?

Looked a lot better, don't think he's ever going to be anyone's first choice at League 1 level but he was solid, made a couple of good saves and looked more comfortable under the high ball

If the Chinese have any serious dosh they'll demolish the East let's face it.

Exactly this. It's economics. The East Stand is a sunk cost. It's money already spent and wasted. Looking at economic value, if they want to make a long term gain they have to knock it down.

There is little to no benefit in doing a half arsed job of what we've got and just doing it up as is

Whatever happened to the new seats that were supposedly being put into the West stand? Always felt sorry for whoever sat a couple down from my season ticket last year as the seat was crocked
45  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2017 Transfer Wishlist on: July 12, 2017, 00:38:36 am
Matt Taylor had an "If fit, must start" clause in his contract last season. This is why he was never dropped last year. He had this due to the appearance clause in his contract which triggered an extra year and stopped us leaving him out of the team when he got to within one game of the appearance target. Hopefully it's not in this years contact.

All of the above is allegedly.........

Sorry if i've missed it, but where have you found out this information from? I can't be the only one thinking that that sounds like absolute bollocks. I know we had Rob Page as manager but even he wouldn't be that thick to negotiate such a deal
46  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Welcome Ash Taylor on: July 05, 2017, 19:30:10 pm
He played alongside Buchanan at Tranmere in the 2012-13 season

Happy with this!
47  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2017 Transfer Wishlist on: July 03, 2017, 19:46:52 pm
2 days ago many players contracts expired. There are still hundreds of options out there (including keepers and defenders!!!! Shocked) *and no, i'm not going to compile a list.

Yes it would be nice to have a full squad by day 1 of pre-season. No other club in the premier or football league have completely finalised their business.

Negotiating takes time. Players want longer deals, more money etc. You work to a budget, if the takeover wasn't announced and something was leaked, Shoey would be the first to complain that KT was being quiet. He wants some excitement to build around the club, ambition is a selling point for us, having a league 2 mentality in league 1 is holding us back, KT is in the process of trying to change this.

The transfer window closing is a long way away, if it takes until August for us to sign a decent keeper and 2 quality centre backs, that is 100x better than panic buying 3 average ones before the season starts. If we don't have any by game 1 of the season, then we're all at panic stations, not by the 3rd July.

Jack Marriott Luton to Peterborough £400K
James Collins Crawley to Luton £250k
Some transfers of interest.

Went to school with Jack and played alongside him for years. Pains me to see him sign for them.

It looks OK, it's just a shame we're stuck with the horrible new university logo on it, the one that looks like it was done by a sixth form design student using Wordart.

I've just finished my degree at Loughborough, they tried to replace our logo with this a couple of years ago:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/higher/loughborough-becomes-the-latest-university-to-be-hit-by-a-campus-revolt-over-a-new-logo-10216854.html

Thankfully they replaced it after a huge student petition. I'm surprised the UoN students haven't done the same, it really is awful

Mark Davies released by Bolton would be a quality signing.

If he's fit,

The four transfer listed players may still be here come August also, so surely they should be part of the squad, until the time comes when/if they go.

I'd love for one or more of them to prove us wrong and turn it round similar to when JJOT was transfer listed under Wilder. Can't see much hope of it happening but we shouldn't completely rule them out
52  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cobblers games streamed for foreign fans via EFL Ifollow on: May 03, 2017, 17:53:07 pm
For any exiled UK Cobblers fans all you'll need is a VPN - some software that makes your web browser think you're in another country for you to sign up I imagine. So good news all round!

Glad Taylor is staying, if only to piss off the irritating bloke who shouts abuse at him all game.

If he was as good as he was when he was in the Prem - he'd still be playing in the prem. Look at him for the attributes he brings now, not the ones he used to have

You could use Airbnb for accommodation. It's showing a decent amount of apartments in the area.

I can send or post a link that'll knock £30 off if you use it.

You just want the free £70 in travel credit if someone signs up  Wink

I also have a link if anyone wants one!

Feet first isn't 'making yourself as big as possible'...

Looks pretty big to me...

Then he goes for the ball with his feet as it's quicker than getting down from such a close distance. Fair enough if you disagree, but that's how i've seen it
58  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sheff Utd (H) Match on: April 10, 2017, 21:16:45 pm
We lost the match, one or three points lost not two.
What was A Smith doing for the winner? Not good keeping.

I too wondered about Smithy and their winner!

What are you suggesting he should have done? He came out and made himself as big as possible. If he'd have gone down earlier, Fleck would have chipped him. He's 6 yards out. 9 times out of 10 the striker is going to score from there regardless of what Smith does

Moloney - to even up the votes cause both of you have gone for the other two best options, nothing between the 3 of them for me
