1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge on: Today at 13:37:35

Good Evening!

Happy to have been able to help! What a let down for you at the end. Looking forward to renewing our rivalry in March when Newport come to town. Should be ok for directions though! A note of interest, we have just signed Regan Poole on loan till the end of the season, and most are very pleased with this and he came straight into the team on Saturday to help us to a first league win in ages. I was surprised he didnít feature that much for the Cobblers, was this because he wasnít considered good enough or just not managers choice?
By the time we meet there could be nothing at stake for either side.

All the best

Phil in Npton
On International duty (Wales?) a fair bit of the time!

I assume then that nobody else is going to mention that their 2nd goal is a floated cross into the 6 yard box that is headed home from less than a yard out at chest height?
Oh go on, your point being what exactly? Cornell dig from the very person accused of being obsessed with an anti-Cornell agenda....and had the brass to deny it!
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Views on Keith Curle on: January 20, 2019, 16:16:19 pm
You are indeed Kingsthorpe Smiley I've not said he should be sacked. But have said I'll be amazed if he lasts his contract. Happy to be amazed at that'll mean he has done a good job  Kiss
You'd have to get up early to ever beat Drilling for being first to play the 'sack' card! Think he's been first for every manager since and including CW!
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Views on Keith Curle on: January 20, 2019, 16:12:43 pm
Jesus wept, so you want yet another manager sacked as heís not up to it.  His record suggests he is capable of delivering the target I assume the board set him.
You lost any credibility with the first two words of your post!
Anyone using 'Jesus Wept' along with 'fact' is generally a t**t!
Time to change though!  Wink

Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Curle.
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge on: January 18, 2019, 15:41:59 pm
Thanks for that - hope I donít take your space mate
He's a Newport fan...why do you think he's gonna drive to our game?!?!

"NTFC are not able, at this stage, to provide detailed information or a time frame for these..."

No change there then!  Grin

Once again: You refer to someone named 'Iniesta' leading some mythical 'movement'. Explain yourself, or else admit you are lying and making things up, again!
He means Iestyn to stop this dragging on...or are you both just ensuring the thread eases past the 1200 mark?  Grin

Mrs Macc is from Cambridge so knows the Free Press and Elm Tree from her student days.

Aiming to be in town around 12 !

Was in the Elm Tree, few years back for the night game. Seems like a hidden backstreet pub but actually just up from where bus drops off!
Great pub with big range of Belgian beers, probably whiskies too Dan!  Grin
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge on: January 16, 2019, 22:18:47 pm
We should be there by then for sure mate  Kiss
Nearly four hour X5 bus to Cambridge  Shocked...in for just after 12pm...Free Press or Elm Tree, then as said, planning  to be at the Blue for around 1ish!

Total tosh....Majority of young kids visiting sixfields know no better as they probably haven't been to another ground ..I remember my first game at the County Ground and thought it was the dogs nuts. However, looking back...Ö.
That's true regarding seven year olds... certainly, Beds is spot on regarding the 12+ year olds... not to mention adults!

However old you were - and when you first went to a Cobblers game is well in the past...the football and sport in general experience has well and truly changed, have you not noticed the development of Franklins Gardens in the last fifteen years or so?

The Northampton public do not care. NTFC fans care about what is going on. What you forget is that a very large proportion of the people in your catchment area argument are incomers, with historical links to other clubs(mainly London clubs) and the rest of them follow the eggchasers. I know several people who are Northampton born and bred who get on the train week in week out down to London or wherever their team is playing, because that's what they used to do with their Dads and Uncles. What we have failed to do not only over the Cardoza and KT stewardships is grab the youngsters at school level and this should have been ongoing from the 70's. If we don't get them young we will not get them at all and they will get their matchday experience in front of the TV from Sky Sports.
41,000/33,000/21,500 fans for our three Wembley appearences, not to mention the, albeit completely off the scale, 7000 to MK suggests that given factors, there certainly is support in the county and beyond.
I agree to an extent that catching fans young is the way forward - but that requires more than success on the pitch - dare I say look at MK down the road, whose second generation fans are just about hatching from their eggs and actually travelling away!
The parents' historical links argument hits almost every club...which is why we have a Stone Island wearing, Yorkshire thru and thru nineteen year old lad in Hull, supporting the Cobblers!

7 of us booked up for a night in Cambridge. Should be visiting several good boozers before and after the game. The Cambridge Blue is well worth a visit and had plenty of town fans last time we played.

In the Blue at around 1pm fella!  Wink

Presumably you are taking the Mick, you can only  consider the grounds the Club is currently playing in - not future potential grounds.
Of all the Grounds Stanley was the poorest I have been to. If they have done ground improvements it is hardly upto Sixfields standard.
Add Mansfield and Burton to the list. The trouble with your argument is that you ensure that it suits your agenda. We all know Sixfields needs updating and no doubt you will be part of the new consortium with money to spare.
I'm with you on this Evers...the Wham stadium experience couldn't outstrip an Andrew Ridgely open mic night!  Grin

No one has ever put forward for a millstone of a ground as its not what we want or need.
Possibly the only thing I ever agreed with Thomas on was when he suggested we don't want to be like MK with a massive ground, but when he didn't mention the 12000 capacity one, which we desperately need, I realised immediately that he was using diversionary tactics and wasting all our time.
That was 3 years ago.
Meanwhile, Brentford's swanky new 17,000 capacity stadium to be unveiled for next season...right next to a large Chiswick based Fuller's pub...and another owned by Bass!

Does having a groin injury prevent someone swearing?
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Carlisle United (H)- Saturday 12th January on: January 13, 2019, 18:15:33 pm
Yes, I saw him get it against Bristol Rovers. Maybe my statement hasn't been fully understood in the context it was intended. Never mind  Wink
Trying anything just slightly subtle gets lost on some...like selling comedy to the Yanks!
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Carlisle United (H)- Saturday 12th January on: January 12, 2019, 22:46:50 pm
Cornell clearly at fault for at least two of the goals!

OK, I wasn't at the game...but when has that ever stopped those profering their opinions?  Wink
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January Window - Rumours, Ins and Outs on: January 11, 2019, 20:40:50 pm
They could, but they didn't.
It won't turn nasty, u forget that this board is only a minority. Most fans will realise that we are shipping out under achievers and bottle jobs who didn't justify their huge league 2 salaries.

Speak for 'most fans' opinions do you?
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January Window - Rumours, Ins and Outs on: January 11, 2019, 20:36:52 pm
Northampton have signed Matt Proctor - a NZ international!
What a coup! Brilliant player, though has a tendency to all too often pass backwards!
