1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Macclesfield on: Today at 11:16:22
Crooks with a hatrick that night in Macclesfield. Interestingly, scored for Rotherham last Saturday, at one of Macc's closest clubs, Stoke City!
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield on Saturday on: Today at 11:13:11
The mid 90s, when football crept out of the dark ages and started reinventing the game to how we know it now, where clubs started to invest into its infrastructure to attract a whole new generation of supporters and local buisneses to work with?
Well not us, we attracted a multitude of amateur land speculators who have since strived and succeeded to keep our club back in the mid 90s.
I hope that answers your question.
Tbf, we did get Sixfields...which at the time, certainly generated much excitement!
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: League Two budgets and most expensive players on: Today at 11:10:16
I'd say Pierre would be our most valuable asset player value wise, and he is not even mentioned!  Grin
But I think this is the whole problem with those such as Taylor (listed)...on big wages, offering little, whereas of course, Pierre is a rock!

Not sure if this is old news or not...but interesting!

Devon Live: The most valuable squads in League Two revealed including Exeter City and MK Dons.

Back on track, lets post some soundbite & cliche musings...

Macclesfield will be a very different proposition from that wet but great October night in Cheshire.
In Sol Central, they have a manager who has them scrapping and fighting for league survival. They will be like a wounded animal, cornered and fighting to the death!

Expect a 1-1 draw.

R. Obvious eat your heart out!

Nev Ronson gave the Hotel End crush bars a new lick of paint back in the early eighties (£54.75) before penning every prog notes with; 'These are exciting times at Northampton Town, with the possibility of a brand new stadium'

What a visionary!  Grin
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: Yesterday at 18:39:57
Worry not, the end of the season is nearly upon us. Beds goes into hibernation for a month and the Steelbacks are doing just dandy...oh hang on!
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield on Saturday on: April 15, 2019, 17:58:05 pm
You've posted on the wrong thread. The redevelopment thread is where you normally slag off the club and chairman.
Beds has that in hand!

As if, your the bloke who started the rumour that spagetti grows on trees!
That was Panorama, broadcast April 1st 1957 time!

Think it will be difficult - County will be fighting for their lives...but quality should shine through!

I'd put Hoskins and Powell up front.

Into Nottingham for 10.52, hopefully break through the OB surrounding the train...and into the Canalhouse!
Seem to be in there every week!  Grin

You were supposed to give Evers first shout!  Grin

Any Park and Rides in Northampton?  Wink
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Racially Abused in Nottingham on: April 11, 2019, 17:35:05 pm
Its not as it happens - actually I cannot equate your position on the Trust to some of your comments on here! You seem to lack any form of lateral thinking and above all common sense..
I like lateral thinking! Here's one;
A man is at work. Feeling tired, he turns off the light, falls asleep, and when he wakes up, looks out of the window and sees a lot of dead bodies.

Where is he?

Evers gets first shout! *

* This has nowt to do with racism, BREXIT or the Cobblers!  Tongue
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Views on Keith Curle on: April 10, 2019, 17:02:10 pm
Interesting, that while the remaining games are being labelled (understandably) as 'meaningless', the Cobblers themselves are very much the Kingmakers in the run in...
Mansfield and Bury games will have the fans of the other top few clubs throwing their support behind us, while also having a strong bearing on who falls through the basement trapdoor, Notts County (last Sat) of course, Macclesfield and Yeovil to visit Sixfields!
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Racially Abused in Nottingham on: April 10, 2019, 16:48:31 pm
Brexit = another way where the elite will get richer and the poor poorer. All they needed to do was convince enough of the gullible poor it would be a good thing. It was easy in the end. It was never about borders, race, blue passports or freedom to travel, it is about money and how they will extract it from you. The few control the many. Divide and conquer, "the policy of maintaining control over one's subordinates or opponents by encouraging dissent between them, thereby preventing them from uniting in opposition". It's been done before and will be done again.
Is this a 'see how many cliche ridden soundbites you can get into one paragraph' competition?
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Views on Keith Curle on: April 09, 2019, 18:56:59 pm
Thatís what I mean - people seem to be very polarised for some reason - perhaps itís got to do with the general situation at the club? What I do know is that there are 5 meaningless games left for people to moan, then when he announces his retained list people will moan, then heíll start making signings and people will moan. Itís going to be a looooong summer.
£90 for overnight in hotel and £70 for train for final meaningless game. As Dan might say...
The moaning begins here!  Grin
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sixfields Parking on: April 05, 2019, 20:28:16 pm
Just so you have advanced warning, a fun fair has set up on the North Car Park and is in operation until 22nd April.

With the continuing closure of the South Car Park parking for the games against Mansfield (13th) and Macclesfield (Good Friday 19th) will be at a premium.
Is 'fun fair' a euphemism for Saints?  Wink
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Notts Ceynty (a) 6/4/2019 on: April 05, 2019, 13:42:23 pm
....exactly, I really have never understood why people want to make an argument about to go or not to go
No one is making an argument about sheltered idiot comes onto the away thread every time with the same mantra... Don't understand why... followed by the same clueless drivel!

Parklands has perfectly said why he doesn't want to go this time...for others so clueless as to what an away day can be about...Alfred has addressed to a tee!
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Notts Ceynty (a) 6/4/2019 on: April 05, 2019, 13:37:39 pm
it may well have been Peter Marinello, who was called the 'new George Best', but I'm pretty certain its a tag that has been put on a number of players over the years.  Was it not also applied to Liam Brady in his early days?  In any case all a bit daft because I'm sure we will all agree that there could never be another George Best anyway.  He was simply brilliant - including the 6 he scored past us.  Believe it or not I was in a school pantomime or play on the afternoon of that game but my father decided to go to the game rather than come to the school to watch my performance.  I was devastated at the time, but now older and more reflective I'm sure he made the right choice!  As regards pubs for tomorrow, could do with some advice please - I seem to recall there is a very unusual pub built in the rock under the Castle which claims to be the oldest pub in the country (along with others I've no doubt).  I think it is or was called 'The Trip to Jerusalem'.  Does anyone know of it - is it still there, is it worth a quick visit??
I think Efon Elad was touted as being the next Nobby Styles!  Cheesy

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Yes this time is preferable to September for sure.
We will be in the Company Inn until Canalhouse opens. What time are you arriving?
Only coming from Hinckley, so easy run in. Guess 11am.
Usual places in the centre - too many to mention but deffo Navigation literally next to Meadow Lane as final stop before game. Obviously gets full but does their own really good Trent Navigation ales!
