1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield's Park. on: Today at 13:56:08
Van Veen did seem to be one of those putting in real effort on Saturday, as he has done in the last two or three games...a JJOT turn around on the cards?
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Fans take over on: Today at 12:24:54
Fan owned clubs have just as good a chance if not more to attract a beneficiary or a decent sponsorship deal.
If we were a fan owned club we sell double the amount season tickets and attract many more new and lapsed fans  if it was sold to them as a new era with future plans and real prospects for our club going forward.
Theres your £3m and counting right there.

Beds, I think you are inviting another economics ambush here!

Whilst I'm not necessarily against Fan Ownership as a way forward...
Who says we would double STH sales (apart from yourself! 😁)? Though there is there is a reasonable possibility of course.

There is no tangible evidence that we would attract dorment fans back in droves - though some of course.

Cannot see any reason on Earth why being fan owned (with CEO, following Barton's model) makes us/ the club any more attractive for future investors!

And anyway, why weren't you sitting in your beloved East Stand on Saturday...you looked pretty cushty sat next to Jeema in the Upper West!  Grin

Soulless all seater stadium. Expensive tickets. What do we expect really?
Does 'Safe Standing' mean The Beehive?

4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Swindon/Northampton - Walter Tull Remembrance day on: September 23, 2018, 18:08:48 pm
For the Swindon Town v Northampton Town match in October, Swindon and Northampton fans will gather at Swindon's Cenotaph at 11.30am for a short remembrance - led by our very own Swindon based Cobbler, Will Smith!

There will be a walk to the cemetery and other things I believe, though we'll be moving swiftly onto the pubs in Swindon's Old Town following words at the Cenotaph!

Need Alan Turing to make sense of that!  Wink
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Let’s create an atmosphere. on: September 23, 2018, 12:20:47 pm
I loved it that them signing "Notts County" sounded like "Referee". i think we should encourage singing songs of support to the match officials.

They were singing "Notts are we"  Wink
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Austin out! on: September 22, 2018, 22:06:27 pm
Great save in the first from Crooks and an excellent save from a header in the second. Both were at least as good as Cornells' second half save IMO.
'Great save' Get out of here! Basically collected it!
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Austin out! on: September 22, 2018, 22:03:39 pm
I'm not arguing but what we're the couple of quality saves that their keeper made - all I can remember is the regulation save from either Barnett or Taylor's header?
Absolutely! Everything today went straight to their keeper...regulation saves indeed!
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Austin out! on: September 22, 2018, 22:00:23 pm
I've tried my best to give the bloke a chance, but I'm sorry the time has come!

Simply not good enough against what I would say is tge worst team I've seen at sixfields for many years and but for Cornell and an inept ref could gave lost.

Enough is enough!
Harrow Borough weren't great!⁴
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Recruitment, A Job Well Done? on: September 21, 2018, 19:57:55 pm
Graham Carr, Theo Foley, Russ Abbot?

Yes, a Director of Football role is what we need...solely responsible for recruitment, leaving the manager to simply wave his arms around in the technical area and provide excuses in the post match press conferences!  Roll Eyes
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Dean Austin on: September 21, 2018, 14:22:11 pm
Richmond have just been hammered by Collingwood in a Boothroydesque Wembley like fashion. Please disregard this post.

Cornell is not good enough
If you're old enough and not hit by claret tinted nostalgia, you'll remember Peter Gleasure was pretty ****!

I've been working on a theory that DEFENDER IS ACTUALLY RONNIE F*CKING PICKERING
Wasn't the whole point Obvious was making???
14  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Replica shirts on: September 19, 2018, 15:45:41 pm
Just come back from Japan. Had the pleasure of going to the Yokohama Marinos v Urawa Reds game. Fantastic atmosphere, with around 12,000 Reds fans from Saitama making the short trip in an attendance of around 50,000.

A home replica shirt is given out on entrance (tkt cost me £26) and actually fits!  Grin

Strangely though, before game, patiently queued for around 15 mins for club shop. Shuffled along the line and took XL Away shirt to the counter...to be kinda told ( virtually no English spoken by staff) that I couldn't purchase an 'away' shirt for a home game - only online!  Shocked
Anyway, bought a decent polo shirt inside the stadium!
15  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: T20 finals day on: September 19, 2018, 15:33:53 pm
Yes, been abroad so didn't see. Have been to the last three Finals Day with County. Thought this year was a refreshing mix - Lancs apart! Personally, would have liked Somerset to win. Remember Finals Day a few years back (when losing to Lancs) a guy and his daughter ( she was something else!  Tongue) from Bath and Somerset fans but supporting us while we demolished the Bears!
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The return of #SellOutSixfields on: September 19, 2018, 13:10:31 pm
I think any 'movement' at the moment should be around giving Dean Austin some vocal backing.

I personally blame the shower of sh*t players, who seem well versed in media sound bites but lack basic effort on the pitch. You can cite Austin as the manager all you like but I reckon anyone is going to struggle to motivate a lot of them to put their bodies on the line. Given the chance I am sure he would can half of them.
This is without the background stuff, which must impact on his job role.

Far from being an Austin sympathizer, I feel compared to the likes JFH and some of his predecessors that he is getting some OTT stick. At least we have seen some half decent football attempted to be played at times.

We'll probably soon see who the next lucky candidate is to work their magic with this lot. How many times are we going to keeping axing the managers in the hope of some divine intervention?

We need KT out and to try and somehow connect with the fans again and establish some identity as a club. The past few years have just felt like death by a thousand cuts.
Agree with this...good post!
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The return of #SellOutSixfields on: September 19, 2018, 10:24:58 am
So will I.....Just hope that they put in a decent performance.A win will be very welcome but you do wonder. If some players put in a less than acceptable performance then I hope DA will have pre warned them of potential unrest. Poor old DA is on a song and a prayer. Bet '78 is having some problems with his "SelloutSixfields or PTS" campaign.  Protests sometimes fall flat - I remember the 2014 or was it 2015 'we want answers' protests which never quite took off.  Wonder how some on here will handle an unexpected win.
If we win, I'll be just that little less pissed off that I bought a Mansfield Town (a)* ticket, weeks back!  Grin

* What a match thread title should look like!

Fair play to him... poignant and emotional! RIP.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Nobbled By The Notts 22nd Sept on: September 18, 2018, 12:48:12 pm
I would give the captains armband to Foley initially, like I said, it is just guesswork on my part but we have to do something or we are going only one way.
Initially? What then take it off him again after 25 mins?  Grin

I will be there, but have every respect for the stance taken by GPC and the rest of the 'usual suspects' (sic).
