Away from the comparisons and going back a season , was anyone on here at the Cambridge away game in 85/86? I think we won 5-2 and I remember thinking something might be happening here.
Yes. Had been a passenger in a car crash a few weeks before...hurt a fair bit (trying) to jump around five times! The Sat before, we'd beaten Halifax 4-0! The 5-2 win at Cambridge started the long running feud with St Neots as the embryonic NAT stopped off there after, clashing with locals and Chelsea!

Don't you think the 86 team would have nowhere near the fitness levels that players today have? Totally different game today regards fitness
Was just thinking how cumbersome JJOT would have looked in that Dream Team! Hill and Holmes though!

David Platt?
Remember one of my first ever games watched was Crewe Alex at the County Ground in 79. Crewe had an astonishing keeper who kept Farrington et-al at bay until finally the Cobblers got one to win 1-0. Black curly haired moustached chap from Zimbabwe with a funny name. Went on to play for Liverpool and get involved in betting!

Stop this positivity at once Positivity? He's got us losing half the games! Can't see us winning at Oxford at all - defeat on the cards there. Draw at Orient. Draw v Wycombe. Is that unscathed?

This will probably sound crazy but I always thought the 86/87 team probably underachieved, it was always too easy for them, a lot of time they always seemed to be in first or second gear. They took it easy at the end of the season or they could have put up some even more incredible numbers.
That's a good point actually. Losing at Hereford and Col U, only drawing on the Friday night at Tranmere...then throwing it away in the big one at Lincoln, which ironically made it better as the title was won under a packed County Ground lights against Crewe!

We're not running away with any title. I've spent enough years watching this football club to know better than to be naive and get over excited Bet you were a bundle of laughs back in 87!

This conversation comes up so often because both sides of the argument are fair. if you buy the season ticket, then you're providing the club with cash flow and rightly deserve perks. On the flip side, if people do travel across the country to watch the team, then they are right to feel a bit aggrieved if they're not rewarded.
I don't think it would hurt to look at point systems that many other clubs in England use for their away allocations, but the reason it probably won't happen, is because we don't sell out every away game. We probably only do once or twice a season? If we did then this sort of thing would get looked at.
Spot on!

If we stay in contention for automatic promotion until the end of the season I can't see one away fixture where tickets will be a major issue. With the exception of Portsmouth. Hopefully it will all be settled by then, so quite a few won't bother.
Already have hotel booked for Pompey, will be there regardless. Made any plans yet Southeast Cobbler...or are you waiting to see how things pan out before getting on your waggon?

Lets all be honest here, there is no point moaning about the away ticketing policies. They are perfectly clear from the start and have been pretty much the same for years. ST holders take priority and rightly so, seeing as its them who across a season who will spend more on the club and watch more games (in theory) Over the last few years, how often has anyone missed out on a ticket? The only game I can think people had a problem getting a ticket was Cheltenham in the play-off semi final. Stop moaning, if your that bothered about missing out get yourself a half season ticket (they're good value you know) as it seems we are going to be in for a good few months as the season draws to an end. I dread to imagine how many people will be moaning about getting a ticket when it comes to needed a point away at Pompey to win the league 1. Cut the stupid 'moaning' bulls*** tag. Mr Mandela, stop moaning, it's always like that in Alan Lamb land...you know the score! It's not moaning, it's pointing out how those who do travel the length and breadt of the country (and are not necessarily STH's might be rewarded for their efforts). So what if on a final day of the season, we were allocated 600 for a win to go up game. A scramble between the 2000 STH's? A lottery? Alphabetic order? Those who own pink shirts? Can think of a fairer system...

Season ticket holders always get first dibs on away tickets and cup tickets. That's the way it has always been. Everyone knows the score at the beginning of each season so why anyone would moan about it now I don't know. The moral of the story is buy a season ticket.*
*actually if someone goes to loads of away matches why wouldn't they have a season ticket for home games?
That's the oh so predictable blinkered view. I had a season tkt for the last three seasons up until 2013 and mostly through late nineties. However, living away from Northampton, can't always make night games - even if I wanted to! I go to most home and away but not all - and don't always want to...which is more honest excuses (as pointed out by Artkenock regarding Leeds) and Plymouth...'couldn't get time off blah blah...' Stumping up an up front lump some isn't always financially viable. * Actually, if you have a season ticket, why wouldn't you go to away games?

Just reading threads. Stuart Gray's team was nothing like as exciting as the current crop. Only Carr's (notice the apostrophe!) 87 team eclipses Holmes, Smith, Richards et-al!

It's clear WHY the club does it, though that doesn't make everything necessarily perfect. No need for those orders of priority to change, but with database info readily available, why not in conjunction offer a kind of points based system e.g; Leyton Orient tickets available to STH's from Jan 23rd and those who purchased pre-advanced Crawley, Plymouth and Daggenham tickets. Members from Jan 28th and those who purchased Plymouth and Daggenham...etc etc.

I'm sorry, but as a fan of another club along with a few others that donated, it would be an absolute disgrace if this was used for a fans village or training ground.
The money was donated in good faith to save your club, not to be used for anything like the above. Your trust need to think very carefully about this - it would set an appalling example for your fans; many who are not trust members who will not have a say.
What about the people who donated big money? Very. very uneasy about this!
Agree with that. Actually, fans village is no more than a kebab van on Queen St!

Oxford have sold 2048 for tomorrow's game at Pompey, no more available. Might be a problem for our promotion party IF we are still in our current position...especially if Pompey are similarly celebrating...
No, Headington Amateurs have been allocated 2,500 and have not sold out, leading to bleating and pathetic excuses on their forum when it was pointed out (by an Oxford fan) that we and Exeter sold 7000 and 6,500 respectively for away games. Have to say, agree with Spinney, vast majority of STH's don't go away - fair play to those that do, but surely some priority sjould be given to those of us that travel around the country on a regular basis...an away points system maybe?

The photo's on the Chronic should provide an opportunity to point him out? Or didn't they photograph the top tier?
Was this by any chance the middle aged twat with glasses (something like whatshisname from The Royale Family - without beard)? Embarrassment getting off at 4.45pm at Bletchley, on platform after with phone to ear - still acting the twat...Police either hawling him off or just a word in his shell!
