Highest profile cobbler ever? On tv twice in one night is some going, maybe Nptons close proximity to London was a deciding factor? Not the first pfa rep we've had, Bobby Barnes was one as was Alister slow, the later was a PFA phoney fooking Arsehole.
Twice in one night? What was the other programme?

A lot of it is to do with contacts. You can get some of the average young players in from bigger clubs, there are tons of them. But there is always going to be one or two stars in those sides and they are the ones that are difficult to attract for teams like us. The lad comes with some good reviews Linda, not the usual "he's rubbish because he doesn't play for us" stuff. So he must have something about him.
Must admit I feel slightly happier having just perused the Rovrum forums. Having said that, his stats don't suggest the lad puts as many away as Berahino does, and so we are still likely to be short of real options up front when it comes to scoring goals.

If darisus vassell plays a game for ntfc I will give every poster on this forum one hundred pounds.
You do realise that this stands as a written statement of intent, and as such we are duty bound to hold you to this obligation. I'm sure we could all use an extra hundred quid

Signed up onto here to say that I think I saw darius vassell coming out of six fields as I was around there with friends in my car. After initial feeling of it can't be him I've come not here and seen posts bout him possibly coming on loan so am very excited by the opportunity of such a good player coming to Northampton if it is actually available for airy to pursue
Are you old enough to drive?... And seriously, how many times are you going to keep posting the Vassell thing?

Agreed. I cannot believe that there are people who are still trying to defend and explain with a positive spin GJ's managerial actions whilst he was with us. Yeah, and if we sink and Yeovil swim can you imagine the 'oh, if only we'd given him more time' brigade

The point is ,he DID have money , its just that he chose to blow it all on players that weren't up to it. Note the "he" in the last sentence , they were his players ,he signed them and agreed contracts with them. He then signed players like Savage when he realized his mistakes with the first lot.
So very true. And for those now making the comparison with AB, perhaps they need to remember that he now has the rather unenviable task of trying to attract quality players to a club that is bottom of the league, whilst at the same time shifting out much of the dross that was signed by Johnson. Can he keep us up? I don't know. But it is a fact that the fella conducts himself with a whole lot more class than Johnson ever managed.

May use one of my 2 KTFC season tickets that I won on a talk sport promotion, They've been a total booby prize as we both play at home on the same Saturdays or when we have a decent away game, seen just 2 games so far.
Would like to see them do a bucket collection at Sixfields, Rivalry in football makes it the game we love, how much better would it be to be playing Kettering at Nene park than going to Macc, Stanley, Morecambe, Crawley or Dag red? all clubs who I believe to be smaller and have less potential than our neighbours.
Given our current predicament, I wouldn't be wishing too hard for us to be playing games against Kettering.

When Frain scored the free kick it and seeing the 30,000 plus fans cheering it brought a tear to my eye. Where did all the fans go?
Did some of them move to Vietnam?

I can't think of another time at The Cobblers when a non-loan player was so ridiculouusly better than his team mates. Even recently Bradley Johnson and Luke Chambers didn't stand out so much. There's nothing he can learn here.
Bradley and Luke had better players around them.

By far the most concerning aspect of this has to be the stress and damage to someones reputation should this be found to be groundless. Especially as the whole thing appears to rest on the testimony of one person. Most stewards are hardly the epitome of impartiality and honesty at the best of times.
If the allegations are found not to be true, it has to be fair to pursue the steward involved for wasting police time as well deformation of character.
Playing devil's advocate for a moment. I would find it highly bizarre if a case such as this made the courts without any corroborating evidence. Either the steward concerned would have used his radio to alert the control room that someone was using such language, and they would then film that person and use video evidence to promote their case. Or else more than one person (stewards) must be willing to stand in court and identify the offender. I notice that he has not been charged with a racially agravated public order offence, therefore I wonder if they are now clutching at straws and just looking to make an example of him. Such as by accusing him of foul and threatening language, such as you might well hear at any football match.

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Back Four ... Consistency and the quest for a clean sheet!

on: February 03, 2012, 11:18:21 am

the quest for a clean sheet......ntfc didnt concede a goal in the first 2 league matches and only conceded the 1 goal against a championship side. This was with a consitent back four that didnt need to be changed.....however some of you on here seem impossible to please and still called for changes despite being unbeaten......i know from people on the inside that players began to be dropped not for playing poorly but because the fans where complaining and big gary johnson wanted the fans on his side so you got your wish and things where changed.......now languishing at the foot of the football league i harbour a large amount of the blame of users of this site, the regular posters and all you budding fabio cappelos out there. examples of this that back up my arguement that you fail to be pleased. Langmead was hated and took so much stick from you lot it was unreal, now hes the best thing since sliced bread. lewis young, destined for the premier league at the start of the season now you wouldnt have him on the bench never mind the first 11.......reading this post i can imagine your angry at my opinion (the truth) but if you look back over the season at how hypocritical some of the people on here are, and bearing in mind DC reads this and probably relays your opinions to the manger, you cant say your attitude to certian players has being anything other than disgraceful......you deserve as much blame as anyone else for the failings this season......clean sheets werent an issue at the start of the season now these days you couldnt buy one.....now ask yourself how many of the orginal back four figure your (ideal) back four?....my point should now be proven.....you lot have been the hinderance this season and deserve your league position, the players dont, and the staff at northampton dont, but you lot do
I was temped to give you a barrage but decided not to as you are clearly after a bite. Either that or you are a Fucking idiot

There's been alot of uncertainty about the weather forecast for the weekend, this is the latest from Pitsford. Frontal systems will begin to move in from the west on Saturday. Whilst the morning will be fine with increasing cloud, the leading edge of this weather system is likely to produce a significant fall of snow across the county during the afternoon, continuing overnight into Sunday. There is the potential for this snow to cause some travel disruption. Highs on Saturday will rise to around just 1C, falling overnight to around freezing. As always with the weather, it's subject to change. That's it then. We'll be 2-0 up and the bloody match will be abandoned due to heavy snowfall
