Agreed, and Last 21 Managers (Normalised to 3 pts for a win and taking all games as league fixtures)

1st Colin Calderwood P154 Pts per game 1.71
2nd Graham Carr P262 Pts per game 1.48
3rd Dave Bowen P515 Pts per game 1.45
4th Kevin Wilson P102 Pts per game 1.42
6th Ian Atkins P248 Pts per game 1.37
7th Ian Sampson P84 Pts per game 1.36
15th Martin Wilkinson P26 Pts per game 0.96
16th Pat Crerand P54 Pts per game 0.94
17th Gary Johnson P34 Pts per game 0.92
21st Terry Fenwick P7 Pts per game 0.29

Colin Calderwood did leave on a high but has been our best manager for 40 years by a country mile.

(Gary - "Give him more time" has only Bill Baxter, Tony Barton, Phil Chard and Terry Fenwick as worse managers during that time)

Which just show what a load of bollox too many stats can be... Barton had a major heart attack, and in truth was probably never up to the job after. Phil Chard did well, considering the Piss poor players he had at his disposal, and in other circumstances would have been a very decent manager. And please, the stats might say that Calderwood was more successful, but 'Better' for us than Graham Carr?? Get real.
And where is Stuart Gray on that list?

4624  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Gary Johnson on 5-Live after 9 p.m. tonight... on: November 15, 2011, 16:43:43 pm
And he has now be sacked for losing the dressing room (bristol) losing the chairmans confidence (P**h) and for being generally ****e (here) its not gonna be a walk in the park for him to get a job, I'm sure he wil but his stock has not just shrunk its totally shrivelled up.

Well it has turned cold... Oh sorry, you said his 'stock.' Tongue
4625  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 15, 2011, 10:25:31 am
The club has been a bit of a shambles since Calderwood left. The eras of Gorman, Gray, Sammo and Johnson... not exactly our finest. And one thing stands out as lacking over this period, and that is professionalism.
Too many rumours of disharmony in the camp, too many disruptive individuals and not enough discipline. Sammo may have not exherted much authority but GJ was obviously far too brash and escalated the problem.

I'm not saying i would be chuffed with Calderwood, but you have to admit that he ran a tight ship. Basically whoever comes in needs to instill some discipline in to the squad. Discipline will get results, and results breed confidence which is the 2nd biggest problem at the moment.

It all ended up going horridly wrong for Gray, but I still wouldn't call the early part of his reign a 'shambles.' In fact, if he'd had anything like the budget that Wilko and CC had to play with, I honestly believe he might well have got us up into the championship. Gray definately had a good eye for talent.
4626  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 15, 2011, 10:13:54 am
Do you keep ignoring where everyone talks about the professionalism and respect in the club during his time on purpose?  Just wondering

Yeah he's a decent bloke actually. However, I have a mate who works for local radio in Ipswitch, and back in the day, he told me that Calderwoods people were touting him for a move to a 'bigger club' even before we'd played our final game. This might well explain why he left us in such a poor state, a mixture of out of contract and aged players. So, 'respect'? Nah!
4627  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 15, 2011, 10:06:57 am
...as, by League 2 standards, Gary Johnson at Northampton...oh, hang on a minute...

Did he have a huge budget Huh?
4628  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 15, 2011, 10:04:12 am
Wrong, he chose some different facts from that season to try to prove a point (mine from soccerbase, have a look ), so in this case Jolly, you have your facts wrong

Wrong again... They were his facts not mine. I was simply repeating his claim that your facts were wrong. Plus, I much preferred his facts to yours... now, wheres me fishing rod Grin Grin
4629  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Take your time DC...Please! on: November 15, 2011, 00:01:46 am
Since January 1st:

2010/2011 season; 5 wins from 26.  25 points.
2011/2012 season; 4 wins from 17.  16 points.

Total - 43 games played, 9 wins, 14 draws, 20 defeats. Total = 41 points.

We have a squad currently of 31 players, one of the largest budgets in the league...whoever he is, he has to be the right appointment this time.

Anybody who thinks we are too good to stay clear of the trap door; we have produced relegation form now for almost a full calendar year. It is VERY MUCH a threat.

I know who I don't want but I've got no real preference as to who I do want. I think most of us fall into that category. But the whole process needs to be a proper drawn out one. We have only got 3 matches between now and the 17th December. That is, I believe...the timescale on offer to get this right. Over a month.

It's a valid point that you make, I just have a feeling that DC will move quickly on this. Hope i'm wrong though.

You know LR, In many ways you remind me of an old tom cat.
No longer wanted or loved at home, and resorting to pathetically mewing at the neighbours door, hoping for a bit of attention.
And you stink of pi55.

My God, what a soft interview. Johnson wasn't challenged at all despite getting texts. Dreadful journalism.

Well it was the BBC, so what else would you expect?
4632  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 14, 2011, 23:37:57 pm
Can you provide details of "twice the average budget " and where i can see this so  can compare, thanks.

Don't be pedantic. 'Twice the average budget' may or may not be right, but the media were touting us as a 'lower league chelsea,' and besides he was actually picking you up on your 'facts' being wrong Grin
4633  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 14, 2011, 23:20:58 pm
How about Kev Wilson...it took him only 1 season to go up? Surely a much better (and more affordable) bet?

Drilling, you always talk a lot of sense, so I know this time you're just on a wind-up Grin
4634  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 14, 2011, 19:39:18 pm
Forget about being ENTERTAINED right now, WINNING is the only importance unless you want to join the likes of Lincoln as non-league non-entities.

Not true... people still want to be entertained. Otherwise fans will continue to drift away.
4635  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 14, 2011, 19:36:54 pm
Kevin Wilson took us up FIRST TIME...and with very little money to spend. How about him?

No thanks... Broads however Grin
4636  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: THE FANS VOTE on: November 14, 2011, 19:28:41 pm
I do not envy the decision DC has to make. The majority of fans (including me) choice did not work and I just do not understand posters suggesting names because they use to play for us.
Personally I hope we appoint somebody who has learnt the pitfalls of management and has put a successful side together be it non or lower leagues.
Ironically like GJ's CV......I'm confused!!!
Good luck DC.

Gary Johnson?... I'll get me coat Embarrassed
4637  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 14, 2011, 17:31:36 pm
I really don't understand how fans say they don't want to be entertained.

Do they really want to see 0-0, 1-0 every week.

Before CC got sacked he said that he would have been happy with 0-0 result !!!!!

When will managers / chairman remember that they should be trying to entertain and perform

Absolutely agree! Extortionate food and drink prices. Expensive tickets. Crap tannoy system, that must surely be in contravention of some h&s laws given the decibels it cranks out into the west stand. I can put up with all of this, but is it really too much to ask for a modicum of entertainment on a Saturday afternoon?
4638  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: new manager odds on: November 14, 2011, 17:23:46 pm
I like Calderwood and I think some of the criticism he has had on here is unjust, but I'm not sure it would be a wise decision to go back now.  Hibs was a failure for him and he didn't really do it at Forest in the Championship (although he did still get them promoted there under crazy levels of expectation, bit like here I suppose).

Personally I think it worked here for him because of Deehan being here to help him out, I think CC is a great defensive coach and thoroughly professional.  That said, maybe a bit of organisation and professionalism is all we really need.

Of the other names being bandied about, O'Driscoll has to be the stand-out candidate.

Yeah and under crazy levels of big budget too Roll Eyes
4639  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NOT Calderwood on: November 14, 2011, 17:16:36 pm
ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE??? Currently the favourite in the poll, christ almighty..

Of course you're going to immediately say well he got us promoted didn't he? Clearly, but on such a colossal budget (we were often referred to as the 'Chelsea' of League Two....) and after three attempts....

Since then he failed to get Nottingham Forest out of League One. Again, a massive club and a massive budget squandered.

After this he has then yielded a similar record to Johnson (20% wins) at Hibernian, arguably the 4th largest club in the Scotland in a league that is an absolute wank standard.

Not only this but we played such a dour brand of football. 5 at the back, grinding out 1-0 wins, is this what you want every Saturday?

What is the logic in this? Is it purely rose-tinted specs of our last promotion? If so why not just get Kevin Wilson in instead based on that reason.....

We need someone fresh. Not an ex-player, not an ex-manager, and not an internal appointment.

He took Forest to the play-offs in his first season and took them up in his second season. That being said... please God, NO!! I want to be entertained Embarrassed

Its a book about how many times p*sh have seen off Town. It's more an A5 leaflet to be honest.

When you say 'seen off Town,' I'm assuming you mean on the pitch... Because if it was off the pitch antics there'd be Fook all in it Evil
