101  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Official "Page Out" Thread on: January 02, 2017, 21:37:51 pm
Lets be clear. This has been a disastrous appointment. But I don't blame KT one jot. He seemed 'ok' and potentially a good one when we brought him in from Vale. Their support base was pretty much split in two to be fair, which it would be after two mid table finishes. He is also young, ex captain/international etc. All suggested that he was a good leader.

But the longer he carries on with his work, the worse we are getting. And the lads that were playing so well at the start of the season (Revell, McCourt, Taylor all looked great) have gone massively backwards. Smith, McDonald (whys he not had a chance). Only Hoskins seems to have thrived in his environment.

We need a fresh start!

I don't get to many games as I live in Cumbria but did go to the Oxford and Sheffield United games. What was clear to me in both of those games was Page is trying to make the best of a sub-standard squad. How people think this team is top 10 I don't know - Hoskins has been our best attacking threat and he was released from Yeovil last time they were in league 1. I came away from both games thinking the performances weren't good enough, but the January transfer window gives us some hope

I don't know what happened in the summer between KT and Page but the recruitment then is whats costing us now - not signing a goalscorer and replacing Holmes & Adams was criminal. The tactics now are negative but when you've got no confidence in your forward play you naturally sit back. The next week will be a big week and i hope that between them both they sort it out and get the right players in.  If we don't i can see if being another repeat of the 08/09 season where we slowly slide down the table into the drop zone right at the end.

Just looking at that guys twitter feed and noticed the unbelievable stat that between them forest and Notts county have amassed 1 point from the last 45 on offer! On a cobblers topic it says that d'ath's move to Mansfield fell through down to money - you wouldn't have thought that he'd be on a fortune and if this is the case I can't see any other league 2 teams (other than the top 4/5 who wouldn't touch him anyway) signing him. Alternatively perhaps he'd rather bide his time and see if page gets the sack

KT should never have given him a 2 year contract last Spring when he knew there was a good chanced Wilder would be off at the end of the year

if you watch from 48-56 seconds you'll see even Wilder's taking inspiration from Page's post match interviews

104  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Should he stay or should he go? on: December 15, 2016, 18:52:30 pm
Oxford will be a big game for him. A lot of the anger's been because of the embarrassment of the 2 Posh games - beat last seasons run away runners-up and it should lift some of the gloomy spirits....
105  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Should he stay or should he go? on: December 14, 2016, 18:58:27 pm
Why people go on about D'ath I still dont understand. He barely did anything last year and I never thought he'd cut it in this league. KT shouldn't have given him & Rod McDonald 2 year contracts last Spring when he knew it was likely Wilder would be off at the end of the year.

I'm still on the fence with Page - for a club our current size we should be happy with mid-table, after all how many weeks have we spent in the top half of the 3rd division in the past 15 years? Not many. Like others have said its the mentality that frustrates me. There was a real bond between the players and fans with Wilder in charge even before last year, and that seems to have completely disappeared this year. Wilder's players stand out like a sore thumb on the pitch compared to Pages signings.

A couple of new signings in January could do us wonders but KT and Page need to get it right
106  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Reality check needed on: November 23, 2016, 19:52:55 pm
We need to look at the bigger picture. Only 2 years under Lord Wilder we had lost 10/12 games in the run up to Christmas and were putting in some pretty dreadful performances. Wilder was changing the team / formation every game and coming out and slating individuals. Though he sorted it out didn't he with a couple of January signings - and i think we're in a similar position here

Page doesn't exactly fill me with confidence with his cliche responses to every question but he must have something about him to have Port Vale in the top half for most of last season. Some of his signings haven't worked out, some have, but none of them are tied down to long contracts so we can soon change things around. I'm willing to back him for the time being and assuming we're not in a relegation scrap come January he should be given the chance to sort his squad out
107  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Posh at home today on: November 21, 2016, 09:27:20 am
I was right in front of it in row B of the west stand and unlike everyone else i thought he got the ball at the time
108  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Posh at home today on: November 20, 2016, 10:05:43 am
Another thing that wound me up yesterday was when he said in his post match interview he changed the team around today to make sure his best 11 players were on the pitch. I would've preferred he played players in their best positions, with Hoskins behind  Revell which has worked recently and just replace Hooper on the wing with Gorre / Potter / even Taylor
109  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Posh at home today on: November 20, 2016, 10:00:01 am
We must  give Page time and assuming we don't turn into relegation candidates judge him on our position in the table in the Spring. I remember in our bad spell with Wilder in 2014 he was coming out slating individual players, changing the team every game and i thought he had lost it and wanted him out, though a couple of astute signings in January turned us around. I still think we're only a couple of flair players on the wing behind Revell away from a potentially very good team

However - it drives me mad how laid back he and his team seem to be. The team look so casual, the only players that looked up for it properly yesterday were Buchanan, Zakuani & McCourt - who was brought off! Taylor and JJOT seem off the pace and Anderson does't look like he wants the ball half the time, which is why i think he seems to drift in and out of games. Page needs to be getting 110% out of every player which i don't think he's doing at the moment...
110  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: November 19, 2016, 10:17:40 am
So, from the forum. Am I right in thinking:

We have pre sold all of the 10 corporate boxes that were in the original plans
8 more boxes are planned for when the job is finished
500 seats to be added to East stand, bringing the capacity of 8500
Looking into further expansion of North/South stands, maybe including safe standing, if and when there is a need for it.

All sounds good to me, once we get through the red tape complications.

Interestingly i was looking at the clubs LinkedIn page and it says the following on the home page:

the club is currently undertaking a major redevelopment of Sixfields Stadium which will see the EAST STAND expanded to include 18 Private Executive Suites and a 300+ capacity Legends Lounge, all ideally suitable for non-match day conferences and events. The club are also in discussions to redevelop the South Stand to increase the capacity of the stadium to around 10,000.

So looks like they're going to have 2 more bays of boxes either side of the current balcony and the south stand expansion may be sooner than we think
111  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January Transfer window on: November 16, 2016, 11:26:18 am
Hooper to stay with Gorre and D'ath leaving and 2 new wingers to come in. If we can offload Byrom get another CM in until the end of the season.

I can see Buchanan leaving if there's chance - he still has 18 months left on his contract and will probably be one of the higher earners. I reckon Page is looking for someone who gets up and down the pitch a lot more
112  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Scunny away on: October 08, 2016, 14:33:42 pm
Cobblers player is just a way of charging you for BBC commentary.  If you pay a licence fee they are stealing your money.

I live in Cumbria so not sure i can listen to BBC Northampton match commentary?
113  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Scunny away on: October 08, 2016, 14:27:53 pm
Sodding Radio Northampton not providing a commentary on radio and can't get it online.

"Full commentary of every game on BBC radio" my arse.

my cobblers player is currently playing Hey Jude rather than commentating on the football Roll Eyes
114  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Kenji Gorre on: September 14, 2016, 18:04:57 pm
I'd still prefer him on the pitch over D'ath
115  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Chesterfield away on: September 13, 2016, 21:17:09 pm
We have pretty awful record at Chesterfield and at home to them too.  Couple of wins in the last 20 odd years?  This will be a stern test.  I'd settle for yet another boring 0-0 there as I recall witnessing usually at Saltergate.

I agree, especially with the Man U game a few days away i would take a draw
116  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Changing a winning team (and style)... on: September 03, 2016, 12:52:08 pm
Most of the top players Wilder managed to sign was because Cardoza decided to start throwing 3 year contracts around. I get the impression KT is a bit more grounded and not willing to take those risks
117  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: What is the most important Derby game to you? on: September 03, 2016, 12:48:43 pm
Being from Warwickshire, Coventry and then Oxford
118  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Targets on: September 01, 2016, 08:13:36 am
We've got to remember we have a wage budget and a large proportion of that's made up of players Wilder and DC signed that Rob Page (and the majority of fans on here) don't think are cut out for league 1 - e.g. Richards, Hoskin, Bryom, D'ath, perhaps even McDonald. We have signed some good players this summer for a club our size, people like Revell, M Taylor, Zakuani won't be cheap and are certainly a big upgrade than what we had last year in Collins, Rose and Cresswell. I'm slightly disappointed we haven't spent more on the wide areas which were our big strength last year but even if it might sound a bit boring, I think we have a good enough squad to consolidate this year, and then build from there next summer
119  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer Targets on: August 29, 2016, 10:47:28 am
Still don't get this obsession with D'ath, he did nothing for us last year and is way below league 1 standard. If Sonupe was brought in as 'someone to work with for the future' and is still ahead of D'ath in the pecking order it says it all. Hopefully a league 2 team will take him on loan to free up his wages.
120  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: EFL Cup 3rd round on: August 29, 2016, 10:42:46 am
Perfect system, also outside chance of a few season tickets being sold to guatantee a ticket. Do we know for sure how many season tickets were sold?

Nearly 3,500 i heard. Up from 2,100 last year
