Good result. Hoping we get another under 21 team in the first knockout round, it really is a mismatch whenever the professional team actually turns up and wants to win.

Not that I'll have any interest in actually attending either way
82  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Poppy shirts on: November 05, 2018, 23:06:34 pm
It's the irrelevance that is my overwhelming point

I realise im in the minority because clubs up and down the contry did the same . Anyhow , do as you wish , I spent my time thinking and honouring the many who fought and died for our values and the freedoms of expression  , my families war efforts and the club's very honourable roots . IMO that is sacred for the remembrance game

Do you read the Daily Mail by any chance? Have never seen such anger over something that literally has no effect on you whatsoever. If you want to spend your minute's silence reflecting solely upon those lost in the war then do so, and let others use the time to reflect as they see fit.

83  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: F A CUP DRAW on: October 22, 2018, 22:48:26 pm
From a selfish point of view quite happy with that. I've not been there before, only 10 for a train ticket from Leicester and no doubt they will cut the match ticket price to 10-12 in an attempt to attract supporters.

If it's a crap away day I will skip the league encounter later in the season (which I had planned on attending)... if it's good then even better, double the fun!

Salford, Aldershot, Accrington or Stockport away please

Odoffin Barnett Taylor Turnbull

Crooks  McWilliams John-Joe   Foley

Van Veen

Think I'd go for this but favour Pierre over Taylor (unlikely Austin will agree though)

Crooks, Barnett, Foley also good

van Veen

Odoffin, Pierre and Powell also good.
90  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ins and Outs - Summer 2018 on: August 01, 2018, 22:48:46 pm
Powell is the only naturally wide player and it depends on what side of bed he gets out of as to whether he performs .

I personally thought Foley looked reasonable as a wide player, although granted we didn't see enough of him in his "favoured" central position to determine where he looked more comfortable.
91  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: May 19, 2018, 15:43:00 pm
We have the core of a team that will do well in League Two.

What we are missing is a couple of wingers and a couple of strikers.

In short, over the course of 12 months we have progressed literally nowhere. But I don't think we've taken that much of a step backwards either. We've paid the price for not addressing our flaws last summer (relegation). Hopefully we address them now.
92  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pre-season friendlies. on: May 16, 2018, 01:33:10 am
Brackley is a good choice, not convinced by Sileby but I've still not been there so I might go this season if I'm free.

Personally I'd like to see a rematch against Stourbridge but I realise that's unlikely to happen.

Love going to Forest Green...but making a weekend of it in Nailsworth or Stroud!  Grin

Was assuming it was within easy-reaching distance of Cheltenham so could stay there... but I haven't really done my research so will happily accept if I'm totally wrong about that

I fancy it as an away trip in any case Grin
94  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: League Two 2018/19 on: May 13, 2018, 21:24:58 pm
Quite happy with a lot of these in terms of away fixtures. Still not got round to going to Cambridge or Swindon which are both new grounds for me and relatively local.

Probably make a weekend of it for Forest Green and Tranmere fixtures happily enough (again, both grounds I haven't ticked off yet).

Hoping Lincoln and Notts County both stay down.
95  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: John-Joe on his way! on: May 09, 2018, 13:08:04 pm
Only way I think he'd move is if the new manager tries to move him on to free up some wage budget (would be a huge mistake imo) or if a big League One club (Sunderland if Wilder goes there?) comes in for him.

Either scenario seems unlikely to me and I fully hope / expect he stays
96  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: May 05, 2018, 21:04:12 pm
I'll be the one to suggest we try to bring back Bayo...

97  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Oldham Athletic (h)- Last game of the season- Last game in League One on: May 03, 2018, 21:42:33 pm
Or more likely, seeing the Sixfields game as a foregone conclusion - a Latics win...thus attention turns to Spotland!

Except if they win then the Rochdale result literally couldn't matter less to them

Made me chuckle.
99  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bury away (Satdee) on: April 14, 2018, 16:16:36 pm
MK Dolts now 1-1, Wimbledonkeys pull one back (now 1-2), and Rochdale have a Red Card.....

Rochdale's red card is Henderson.

They might really struggle without him if that's a three match ban.
