The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: BRING A FRIEND WEEK
|

Don't see why it has to be season ticket holders bring a friend for a certain price, but for one game where the crowd will be low (Macclesfield seems ideal) the club really should just make all match tickets a tenner. Do we really get that many people rocking up and paying £20 on a match day, I doubt it. I see very little reason why the club wouldn't get on board and try and get a close to 6k home gate for a one off game, especially with the position the club is in. They reduce the prices, and the fans do everything they can to get a few mates/family/whoever to go along for one afternoon for a tenner.

I've been fairly critical to friends and fans about Johnson and the team in general where it has been deserved in the back end of last season and the start of this, but we played well tonight agaisnt a near full strength Huddersfield side. Fair play to Johnson as whoever booed tonight need not have bothered going, we put in a decent showing, got caught on the counter (again?) late on, but Huddersfield are a decent side.
Still plenty of question marks around though, really struggling to see what Bas Savage brings to the team, would much rather have seen Purcell or AN Austrian come on. Tomorrow could be an interesting day, re Harrad etc but cant see anyone coming in.

I didn't think we played badly, but to get caught on the counter attack (it was a either a counter attack or our defenders simpyl fell asleep) twice in the last half hour when winning a game is unacceptable. Real shame as we had done well to come back and get into a winning position. Thats twice in a week we have been in a good position with half an hour to go in games and come away with 0 points both times, really hope that isn't a sign of things to come.

I doubt it will sell it in either the home or away end, but would have thought Wolves would bring around 1,000 as long as the prices are reasonable and i suspect the overall get will be pushing 7,000, pricing could be key though, at ABSOLUTE worst it should be the same as a normal league 2 game, maybe with a few quid off for STH to make sure they all come.

I cant help feeling this should be shifted back a month or so in the calender, of course you dont want it right at the death of the season when teams are fighting for promotion/relegation/play offs, but I can't help thinking it is slightly absurd that any team that wins their first round Carling Cup game, Saturday-midweek-Saturday for the first 4/5 weeks of the season, thats a crazy fixture pile up considering we are right at the start of the season.

I think it is highly unlikely Posh are going to be avaliable for us, as the second round is seeded. I can't imagine they will be in the top half of seeds, but I may be wrong. Would take pretty much anyone at home, then Wolves/Villa/Liverpool away.

I plucked it from watching the game...
Me too. He was not awful. He isn't Messi, he aint going to be perfect, I suspect he is not as good as most people would like to think he is, but to say he was awful last night just isn't true, well in my opinion at least.

Jacobs was far from awful last night, don't know where you have plucked that from. Yeah he still runs down blind allays too often and loses the ball, but he was simply not awful or anywhere near it. Westwood on the other hand, I was throughly, throughly impressed with. He wasn't up against a small strike force (Scotland) yet dominated in the air and was generally solid throughout.

So, to all those you came on hear and were 100% certain the keepers was "2 or 3 yards" outside his area, you were spouting drivel. It was pretty marginal at best, but it's safe to say if it had been our keeper and it had have been given, and hence sent off, there would have been more than a few going mad.

7 shots on target? 7 shots on target my arse, it was no more than 2. I was pretty disappointed today, particularly with the first half which was pretty s*** to watch. I was disappointed mainly in the fact they looked that bit quicker and fitter than us which was a big concern. Bayo could barely move after the hour mark, not his fault, thats how he is, but we have to have a plan B. In general Bayo wasn't at the races today but then we hardly got the ball into his feet which is where he is strong and effective and when we did he did well. Davies was pretty quiet throughout, Turnball didn't play as well as he did in pre season and Jacobs tried the impossible too often.
To those who are saying we were unlucky not to take the 3 points, I suspect Accrington feel exactly the same way, having had a goal disallowed and hit the bar from a free kick and if the lanky one hadn't been caught offside every 45 seconds they proberly would have created more.
It wasn't too bad and certainly I think we could have the basis of a good squad, but from what I saw today, this could very much be a transitional season, not that 1 game is an accurate judge, which is not what GJ or DC are thinking im sure.

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cost of going away this year

They go up at 18, but you can become a member for a small fee and then your can get an under 21, that is how its meant to work, although judging by comments people are just walking up and getting under 21 tickets.
The under 21 ticket is only a few quid cheaper than an adult anyway, or at least was this season, i think £16 to £19 in the West, so you can hardly raise it much, if people are going to "lie" for £3, there going to do it for £1/2

Don't Bradford have the cheapest home tickets in the division, surely they ain't allowed to charge away fans more are they?
You have to charge the same amount to home and away fans for a one off match ticket for a similar view, but this does not take into account season tickets. So all those clubs who do cheap season tickets, including us this year in the north stand, do not have to give those equivilant prices to away fans. But their cheapest tickets are likely to be behind the goals, but as the away fans are in the side stand they can charge more.
