everyone knows what arsenal are going to do every single time with their corners - but people still cant stop it

Everyone knew what Michael Jacobs was going to do every single time with his corners,  fail to get past the near post, but he still persisted with the same format. Sometimes its just crying out for a bit of mix n match.

It’s about the only time we get the ball into the box lately  Grin

I remember this and being shocked because prior to this I couldnt remember a single time it had been successful. Watching the game back and Jake Sharpe commented the same thing.

Nothing wrong with a long throw and based upon those with whom Nolan has spent most time around in his career, Allardyce and Moyes you can imagine balls into the box at every opportunity is going to be his mantra.

The issue being that Pinnock dosnt really have a long throw, I mean its not to feet but its not exactly a launch and we dont seem to really overload the front post to win the initial flick, which more often than not we dont.

Nothing wrong with it as a tactic in theory, but its not exactly Tozer distance is it?

Why would you use it EVERY SINGLE TIME though? No variation to anything, the opponents know what is coming and plan for it pre match and expect it during the game. Its a good weapon to use now and then but its too predictable!

why waste time with a short throw, couple of touches, get closed down etc - pick it up, throw it in to the box unchallenged.

easy - if you have the weapon why wouldnt you use it.

be like having a 150mph serve in tennis and serving underarm all the time

I would abandon it because it hasn't worked for 3 + seasons.

Unfortunately it's not a bullet like penetrating long throw - it's a slow high ball which gives central defenders ample time to judge an interception. As previously mentioned on his day Pinnock's crosses are much more effective.

Speaking to a local Charlton season ticket holder he said Taylor can pass a quality ball as well as mixing it in midfield.

Is it time to abandon this, I cannot think of one occasion when it has led to a goal

If we have a long throw expert available use him.Pinnock has had a few better games recently and if he plays well we generally get a point or two . That goal he scored against Brum makes him a hero for me. Was there and so where many others.
The trouble is Evers, the only thing that he is consistent about, is his lack of injuries.  He has been below par, for the last 12 months, and a last minute one-off against Brum, or a last minute fluke against Boro is not enough. Still, if it got you excited at your age, thats good enough.  Grin
