I know what you're saying, but if Anderson had have stayed down, rolling about clutching his leg, I recon their guy would have seen red at the end of the first. It was an horrendous tackle, he gets a yellow and Wharton and there other guy get reds for a bit of "handbags", pushing and shuffing will never seriously injure someone but that tackle could have easily resulted in a serious injury

Exactly.

Not sure if we were/are in for Hallam Hope, but Swindon now after him after losing both Doyle and now Jerry Yates, who has been recalled by Rotherham...

Now, not sure if Yates was signed by Curle when on loan at Carlisle, so wonder if he's one of the players we've made a cash bid for?

So Swindon have lost Yates as well, classic!  Grin

Out of Williams, RHJ & Martin, I'd rather Williams every time...

Playing against a Championship team should suit his calm persona perfectly, with Goode & Turnbull guiding him, could be the real making of him

Failing that, RHJ as Martin is a total liability

I’ve got a nagging feeling he’ll go with Martin for his left foot and his supposed dead ball delivery (not that we’ve seen any evidence of it) - what Jay Williams has done wrong is beyond me as he has nothing but impressive in all his first team appearances to date.

I would be surprised if R H-J was selected as he is a right sided player. Goode plays right, Turnball centre and Wharton left. Therefor think a left sided player more likely to be selected which probably means Martin unless we recall Jay Williams.
Going back to last nights game the referee was just as poor when we had him at Mansfield.

Some smug nonsense spouted here.

It was a foul on Wharton, absolutely no doubt about it. The Orient player clearly deliberately steps into Wharton, he makes no attempt to jump for the ball. This knocks Wharton off balance which causes him to reflexively put his hands up in the air. This isn't 'just a nudge' or a 'soft foul' as Wharton was in mid-air and the 'nudge' from their player was deliberate to knock him off balance. It could even be classed as dangerous play and it should have resulted in at least a booking.

I guess you think a little trip or a shirt pull when a player is on the break is a 'soft foul' as football is a 'contact sport' too? Simply nonsense.

And to say Wharton 'rugby tackled their player' is also ridiculous. Where's the evidence of this 'rugby tackle'? Wharton was sent off for 'violent conduct'. Where's the violent conduct? It was two players tussling for the ball after a goal, happens all the time in games when there's a lot at stake and the clock's running down and rarely results in a sending off.

It wasn't a foul because it wasn't given. We can talk about the merits of it all day, the fact is the referee blew for the obvious handball which resulted from the less than obvious (to him and his assistant at least) push in the back.
Our defenders do the same, everyone does it, don't kid yourself otherwise. One minute everyone is berating VAR, the next its "if we had VAR it would have been disallowed"...…..assuming of course that the VAR official had been of the same opinion as the Cobblers fans.

Reference the little trip or shirt pull as being football...not at all, i'd call it cheating because that's what it is.

As for the handbags....have you seen the video footage of the melee and how it started? There is a shortcut to it earlier in this thread.

If Wharton had not done what he did to their player there would have been no melee….if the ref had spotted the foul there would have been no penalty and then no melee......and on and on. We can only go on what happened and what was given.

Like I said, there will be other times we get the rub of the green...….move on, get over it, learn from it.
