The one player you don't want to bring on when there is a real battle to be fought is Thornton, particularly as he was sulking from not making the starting eleven. We won, so what is the problem?
Agree completely but we all know this is going to drag on and on as I don't see yesterday as a step change in the season

The chavvy morons who have moved to North Stand this season are seriously getting on my nerves (not everyone who has moved is a chavvy moron btw).
Most of the people who booed on Saturday were in the North Stand last season. Most of the abuse to Guinan and Bayo came from the older people (by that I mean over 25) right behind the goal as far as I could hear. Many people there really do come out with some absolute sh*t!

I think your lack of football knowledge shows clearly in that statement. Thornton would have held on to the ball longer than Guinan, he would have created a bigger threat than Guinan and by christ he'd have entertained the crowd more than Guinan. Care to explain how Guinan helps in a battle?

There's a difference between a lack of football knowledge and holding a differing opinion on the matter to you, Marvo! I agree with Chamois and Wrigley on this, you really don't want Thornton coming on at that point in the game. If you are after a third goal, yes, if you are shutting up shop, no. You're absolutely right about entertainment value, but I'd rather secure the three points than enjoy a potential 10 - 15 minute cameo performance from Thorno.
In answer to your question about what Guinan adds to a battle - how about experience, professionalism, tracking back and a bit of nous to help see out the last few minutes? Alright, he was never going to score (always a bit of a problem for a striker) but he did a job once he came on. Not an entertaining or pretty one, but one I suspect he was sent on to do.

Of course its ok for our own players to apply for jobs elsewhere WHILST THEY ARE CONTRACTED TO US. Guinan really wants to be here doesn't he?
You do know he's on the transfer list don't you? Because with comments like these, it seems you don't

Well we saw what Guinan did when he came on, sweet FA. Thornton could hardly have done any worse and I'm 100% certain he wouldn't have!

I reckon Dodger would have been a bigger threat.

Marvo, you need to appreciate that just because some of us don't agree with you it doesn't mean we are wrong (or right). Yesterday was a very physical encounter, with defences on top. I don't think Thornton would have been able to hold the ball up effectively. Clearly Sammo felt the same.

It's a free country Ben, you can't make people do what you want them to, nor should you be able to. If one person boos why another thousand cheer I think the message is pretty clear.
PS: I don't boo players!
... you didn't think this was me did you Marvo? PS. Regarding this thread, Fred's post about 3 pages back sums up it nicely.

I totally disagree with you.. I didn't boo Guinan but was surprised when Sammo chose to bring him on once again. He did absolutely nothing when he came on, other than nod on a few balls with no Cobblers player in sight to run onto them. His movement and teamwork was appalling. I don't particularly rate the guy but his confidence must be rock bottom. Add to that the morons booing him and the blokes self esteem must be non existent..
