Just back and reasonably impressed despite the 0-1 scoreline. The team that played first half today looked quite able against a useful Orient side. Only problem for me was where the goals are coming from if Richards and or Hackett are injured. When they went off we sort of resorted to hoof a bit. We also looked very tired second half probably due to the heat. Still impressed enough though to say we wont be in a relegation fight this season. Fingers crossed.

We just toying with them. 72% can't be wrong. We're are going to be an attacking, promotion chasing team when it matters. Richards, Toney, Sinclair and O'Toole banging them in for fun. Pre season means nothing, so they say. Pretty pleeeeease.

That was VERY pre-season. Not sure we had a shot on target? Very solid though...that team won't get over-run.

4-4-1-1 does seem to be the starting plan.

I actually think this formation will work fine away from home when the onus will be on the home side to attack. The speed of Hackett and Mohammed will give most teams a problem on the counter. Wilder knows how to get results away from home in this league. However, at home when some teams tend to park the bus, I'd really like to see us go with two up front. Richards and Toney/Sinclair could be a useful partnership at this level. Even playing a 4-4-1-1, The team looks like it has more goals in it than last year, but Wilder needs to address the issue of a worrying lack of chances.

We just toying with them. Admire your optimism! Defence ok and midfield just about ok. We never had a shot first half and until Toney came on we pretty toothless. Toney looked useful and nearly scored. Sinclair had a shot saved ; his best position was on the wing where he made a couple of telling runs. Still think we need somebody like Marquis!

I didn't go, just back from holiday.
That said I would like to see Sinclair played down the channels next season, he's much more effective there than central. I wouldn't even consider him in a 4-4-2...4-5-1, he could be very very good in my opinion.

Not at the moment! Only Toney had any threat today and nearly scored with a good header. Are we missing Morris?

Erm, not like that there's not. Richards was isolated and hardly had a touch and there was a fair bit of hoof towards Toney in the 2nd half. That said, it was nearly 30 degrees so there wasn't too much running going on, especially by Carter and Ravenhill, and JJ would have won by a mile a competition for running the shortest distance in a football match while having a bit of a strop and having the worst hair. K-Mo also fell over a few times for no apparent reason and Diamond looked like he'd just been reintroduced to a football again after a prolonged spell of amnesia....so, lots of things that will naturally improve. And Tozer mis-directed a few passes. Pre-season - I just know I shouldn't go, but somehow still do.

Banana, this pretty well sums up why I give pre season friendlies a miss.

I thought the opposite.... Midfield ok, defence just about. Thought O'Toole, Mohammed and Hackett linked up well in the first half, we just had no end product and created almost nothing of note. Overall I thought we did ok against a good Orient side.

Not convinced a Ravenhill/Carter central midfield is the answer, think it lacks creativity.

It always has done, we have still not signed the (gutteridge) creative central midfielder.. Pre-season means nothing but I am not as convinced as a lot of others that we are going to be anywhere near a top 7 side! Defensively well capable, Hackett was let's be fair awful last season, Carter and Ravenhill are similar players not in the creative mold albeit Carter does get forward more, I think we are really relying on jj, if he doesn't produce then it could be very mediocre again! Richards for me is past it, and on his final pay cheque, Toney-can he repeat the form shown at the end of last season, will CW play him?! Sinclair.. I need say no more! Our defence should ensure we are not in a battle at the other end however.. If I was to predict id say anywhere between 10th+14th..

If you are getting hammered in preseason matches by prem under21 sides then be concerned...which has happened in the past.
Losing and drawing games against top sides from the level above, for me is an indication that we will be fine.
I take the points made about lack of chances being created...but a side containing any perm3 of Hackett, JJ, Mohammed, Toney, Richards...backed up by commanding defenders who will score regularly from set pieces...should be enough to out score most sides at league2 level.
Last season I couldn't see where the goals were going to come from, this time round I have no such worries!

created almost nothing of note................that's why I thought the midfield was a bit ordinary
