I've given the lad some stick (rightly so in my opinion) but credit where it's due thought he had a good game today.
I was surprised to see the stats said they had no shots on target but keeping isn't just about making the odd good save. Archer came off his line well today to make clearances and punch well, also his handling was very good.

I wasn't. Can't remember Archer having to make a single save but that's hardly his fault.

The lad is doing fine. 2 good games on the trot. Cannot see duke getting back at the moment.

What little he had to do, he did ok with.

Few flappy punches but seems to have understood the concepts of coming off his line and communication with the back 4.

I'd agree. I thought he did everything expected of him on Saturday.

I would have kept a clean sheet on Saturday!  Grin

Seriously though. It was encouraging that the defensive unit in front of him did their job. Just not sure how much Archer had to do with it. I don't recall them even getting a corner, and they had very few free kicks in dangerous places...so the issue of not being able to defend set pieces properly wasn't brought in to the equation.

I thought he was critical of his defence when he thought it was needed, he came for crosses and off his line at the right time, ie his decision making was correct, and yes he kept a clean sheet, something he has been previously criticised for.
No world class saves but that would have required world class Wimbledon strikes.

He doesn't need to play a blinder. He just needs to be his steady, solid self. Consistently. For about the next 25 games or so. Same as he always is.

So he consistently picked the ball out of the net. Be surprised if Archer is not recalled for Carlisle. TBH I think we need a decent goalie...now!

I don't really think any of the Plymouth goals could be put down to Duke

Tghere's not much to choose between Duke and Archer, neither are anything to write home about.

Just about sums it up!  Think we still need a decent goalie!

Duke was much better today.

Didn't drop any crosses, no flapping or chaos. Blameless for goals.

Duke can't be blamed for the 3 goals and at least bring a presence to the goal area , as has been stated so many times !

If Archer returns to side next week.......it could be the final straw.

How , in the name of jumpin jiminey is he not to blame? He is a goal keeper , his very purpose in life is to stop goals . Alright he didn't make a mistake like throwing the ball into his own net but if he is sitting at home not wondering how he might have done better then he should be considered for the role, not that I'm advocating Archer by the way he ships goals like they are going out of fashion. Two thing are vitally important for keepers ,one is don't make a stupid mistake, but secondly occasionally attempt to get your body in the way so the ball doesn't go into the net.
