Archer to me looks like a player who's had hundreds of hours of coaching input but doesn't have a natural goalkeeper's instinct with the result that he almost always stays stuck on his line rather than making a different decision. He also gives off zero confidence and that communicates itself to the defence and he also seems to be totally silent so offers nothing to the defensive organisation. Apart from that....

played in goal at notts county when we lost 5-0, could've done better me sen with several pints loaded.
I was at that game. It was 5-2. I think we took the lead. Brown was totally inept, had no command of his area, sluggish, couldn't catch or e even punch very well!! Archer isn't that bad but doesn't inspire any confidence at all. Reminds me of Freddy Hall...

That was just over 5 years ago, Gray had just been sacked and Sammo was caretaker

Given how ropey Dunn had been, we were calling for a new keeper!

This guy is the worst keeper since Dunn, for one of their goals he was on the floor before tier striker had actually kicked the ball at him. When will Dukey be fit?

Reminds me of Freddy Hall...

I had that thought too, but then remembered that Freddy had a kind of random reckless approach to goalkeeping that was quite entertaining, in a scary way. Archer is just inert.

At least when Abbey decided to collide with a team-mate he took him out good and proper!

I bet there was a big row in the have tiime interval, I wouldn't rate Abbey's chances as very high!

Yes but he wasn't too blame for most if not all the goals - after a loss like that it is natural for some to find a scapegoat. But whether we like it or not we are shipping goals since Bournemouth - where as it happens he played quite well! The trouble now is that supporters confidence in his (Archer) ability is evaporating pretty quickly; maybe he is ok just as a "bench" replacement but as a full time goalie I now have doubts. No doubt will play a blinder at Morecombe! I think it is far more important to sort out the back four and midfield with recalls for Diamond, Tozer, Horwood(if fit) and maybe Carter/Ravenhill. I would certainly start with Toney as D'ath appears a bit lightweight , another good bench alternative as the game at Wolves proved.

He made a half hearted flap of an attempt for the 3rd or 4th (I forget!) in which the Stanley player rounded him with consummate ease!  Roll Eyes

probs be up to a) wigan, b) nicholls and c) wilder who as far as i am aware had nothing to do with his signing here on loan in the first place and most likely has his own ideas about the goalkeeping position
