If having an opinion that differs to yours constitutes being a tw^t then I guess we're all tw^ts. Next time you see that someone has typed something you disagree with try taking a deep breath to gather your thoughts and contemplate whether you really need to resort to name-calling at the first opportunity. Have a cup of tea, a cigarette or a short walk, whatever it takes for you to calm down and formulate some kind of constructive response of your own. If you strike a blank maybe just don't bother on that occasion, you can always try again next time.

Thanks for your sincere advice. IMO and considering you weren't at the game your post Bury comments particularly on Toney were uncalled for and incorrect in any case. If you think Toney was poor then make constructive observations rather than post negative remarks. All the best tho'

I've missed one, possibly two of Ivan's career goals to date. I've definitely seen enough of him play to have a valid opinion of where he's currently at and in my mind it's an accurate one. We all hope he will improve but let's wait and see. Next time save the name-calling for the playground.

This can be a playground at times and don't name call yourself! Other than that all the best.

I thought the lad played pretty well on Saturday all things considered. He put in a darn sight more effort and showed more talent than the 'mature' subs than came in and offered, well, nothing.

To be fair, I've only ever seen Toney in the flesh twice, so I guess I'm going to get slated for even daring to offer an opinion.
The first time was when he came on against Rochdale last season. My first impression was who is this skinny rake, he needs a good meal inside him. He chased about a bit but I didn't think much to him. He looked like a YTS we were giving a run out to. So, imagine my surprise (and joy) to see how he came on towards the end of last season. I've seen his goals though admittedly not his full time on the pitch.
So I was looking forward to being able to watch him properly on Saturday. Unfortunately, it was more Rochdale again. He chased the odd ball down, played a few neat touches but nothing of any more substance. I'd say Geronimo was twice as threatening, if not more. Toney just didn't look ar$ed IMHO.
As for why he was brought of.... Look, if he's incapable of not giving away stupid fouls and getting himself booked for nothing then you have to question either his ability or his attitude. Week in, week out I look at the BBC stats and it says "foul by Ivan Toney" over and over again. The thing is, I don't think he's dirty, just incapable of tackling. He must get on ref's nerves with niggling fouls and get bookings on a totting up basis rather than through intent or malice. If you can't offer yourself for 90 minutes because you might get sent off, then you're a liability rather than an asset.
Anyway, like i say, I can hardly offer a comprehensive insight but Saturday was hugely disappointing on many accounts, not least his performance. I'm not saying he's rubbish, or a total loss - but he does need to change a few aspects of his game if he's going to move forward.
As it is, I think we're stuffed now. Toney, Geronimo and Gray are unlikely to get us the goals we need to basically win every game now. I did like the little Italian but him and Toney do not sadly represent the type of strikeforce you need for L2.

It's fascinating how new players are written off before they've been allowed to get a few games in and gel with the rest of the team.

He's only just turned 19 - he's a kid who's not even finished growing ffs! Might be the next Courtney Herbert, might turn into something - too soon to call.

How old was Jermaine Defoe when he tore us a new ar$e when on loan?
Or how would you compare Toney to Berahino?
There's two examples (there are many, many more no doubt) of players the same age as Toney who were quite a way ahead of him.
Anyway, maybe he'll develop later and maybe as you say, he needs more time. I'm not slating the player, just responding to the argument.
My worry is, if he does indeed need more time, can you carry that at a time when you're chasing a play off spot? Possibly - but only if his partner is more Rico-esque. On Saturday, Toney was the #1 man up front and at the moment, he's not up to it based on that showing

I agree, yes he is still young and he yes he does have time on his side. But at 19 Wolves were on the verge on signing him and if he had gone there i doubt there fans would have been as Patient as we have been this season with him. Since the move broke down he seems like he has taken a step back in his development. One of the posts i read on he suggested that the system doesn't suit him and the manger struggles to fit him in to the starting eleven,to me that's a problem. I said it a while ago that he should of been taken out of the firing line and loaned out. If he played week in week out at say at a conference club everyone would have benefited from that.

If a club like Wolves were interested enough to take him on as one for the future I'd say that fact alone renders the opinions of those saying he's Non League as plain silly. WasRambo, comparing him to such talent as Defoe and Berahino isn't fair. If he carries on as he is he may get the chance to carve out a decent career in the Championship. He has only just turned 19 lads.

Its a fact that a our opinions on here wont influence what happens with Ivan. Whether you rate him or not its Chris Wilder who will probably have the last say in his future and Drillings comments regarding him not really fitting into the style of football we are currently playing will probably have more relevance than anything else. If you think back to the end of last season and the beginning of this when Toney was playing reasonably well our team was without most of the players who have contributed to the fast accurate pass and move game we are playing now. He's not the only one who has struggled to adapt to it and like some others he may suffer for that in the summer.

total tosh - our esteemed colleague came out with vitriolic comments which were hardly opinions more like a personal vendetta. You chose to support him; perhaps the cider clouded your judgement. Your supposed to be a NTFC fan and not into making negative comments on a promising 19 yr old player.

I support opinions but not personal vendetta's against a young and promising player. You of all people should have noticed the tone( ) of Razors and Glastonbury so called opinions and am surprised that you go along with them.

Exactly my point ! I have and always will support Ivan to the hills! However I'm honest enough to see the floors in him and he's his only 19, yes he is still very much developing and yes he prob does have extra weight on his shoulders following last year. But there are things he can do to help himself nevers and if these went sorted out he will waste his undoubted talent!
