The five minutes extra was really irritating, I was expecting at least eight. If the refs simply added the time wasting properly then no one would bother doing it.

Like those people that say "If you sent players off every time they did [offence] we'd have 3 a side" Well, no. Because it'd happen once before they all stopped. Yes, we'd have a match that lasted 104 minutes. Once.

Agree fully about the officials. I said first half that if Accrington could have pre-ordered a referee to suit their game plan, he'd be high on the list. Constantly stopping the game, blind to time wasting and play acting and unable to understand the concept of added on time. I was expecting 7 minutes at least.
Toney was perhaps a lucky boy to not be booked or worse but as Wilder said, his competitiveness is not something you would want to change.

Toney is class act, 18 years old and his football brain is decent. I like the fact he clattered a Stanley player, that and Collins tackle was the only two times I can remember us getting stuck in. Good first touch, skill and no scared to try things and can find the back of the net. Bound to sell him for 150k.

Football could learn from Rugby (again) and take timekeeping away from the referee and have an official timekeeper. 40 minutes each way but the clock only ticks when the ball is in play. End of time wasting. The last time I saw any figures on it we get about 27 minutes of the ball being "live" each half.

I called the last minute booking for time wasting midway through the first half!
Let's face facts. You cannot blame AS for taking the proverbial because the ref let them do it all game long without barely a word.
Remember the guy who kicked the ball into the west stand? If that wasn't a yellow card then nothing is! The keeper at one point was bouncing the ball on his head shortly after retreaving it from the north stand!
Given that every game has 3 or 4 minutes added on at the end of the 2nd half as standard fair, he basically added one minute extra. They spent about 2 minutes celebrating their 4th goal for starters!
As you can tell, it's my biggest bug bear. Cheating. It needs to be addressed but I've been saying that for years. Sadly the FA encourage it, it happens always down to kids football and is just widely accepted as part and parcel of the game. It shouldn't be.
Substitutions. Proper irritates me when the subbed player strolls off like he's on a sunday morning walk

I remember several years ago on the Campus that I work on. Having a language school which consisted of, in the main Italian children aged 8 to 14 stopping over. On the warm summer evening they would gather in groups of 3 upwards to kick a ball about, I could not believe my eyes, very much part of the kick about was these kids dropping like they got shot every time they were challenged, they rolled around play acting like they were not going to survive.

Duke has to be one of the worst time waters I have ever seen. The time he has taken on occasion to take a goal kick has been so embarrassing. I can remember Mark Richards getting up to all sorts against us to waste time and wind the Northampton fans up. All teams are as bad as each other. I'm completely against it but its silly allowing it to wind you up.

I had to leave at 2-5...I couldn't take anymore. Not without resulting to swearing. I had my 4 year old with me, Im not quite sure how I contained myself without going past the 'contorted face, nostril flaring look' that had been with me since 1-2!

I thought you only got like that when you were drunk! I'm at least twenty years your senior Shane, maybe it's just my age, I just don't seem to get wound up like that any more. Put that photo of your lad up from Saturday, I'd defy anyone to get too mad when such a cute kid is looking up at you so lovingly.

I know that all teams waste time but its not difficult for the ref to stop it is it ? It was blatantly obvious that Stanley were wasting time so all the ref had to do was warn them that if anyone else did it ,he would book them and you could guarantee that he would have only had to book 2 at the most. The only ref that I can remember adding all the wasted time on was the one we had against Wimbledon last season, when the dons were down to 10 and they scored in that added time!!

My mate fully expected 10 mins to come up on the board at the end of the game.
