Sorry to mention this Drilling but one shot on target in 90 minutes ?
and that wasn't from a striker either.

After 3 league games we have 0 goals from open play.

I was saying to a member of this forum in York at HT, that I thought we had one of the best squads for the last 20 years!.
Well it was the fine Yorkshire  ale talking, so permit me to lower my expectations to a team capable of reaching the playoffs.
Saturday is going to be tricky. 2-7 still makes me cringe  Grin we could bill this as  Langmeads revenge.

If Drilling thinks this side is going to score goals then he is a dreamer. The thing I noticed last night was how quick the Oppo was when attacking opportunities cropped up. Our midfield at times was over run but did better second half. As for the forwards both Richards and Toney where ineffective and lacked the drive/energy even to take the skin of a rice pudding. Midfield disappeared for long periods although O'Toole did shine occasionally. First goal was the result of a less than determined challenge on the line by I thought Alfei?? - the ball and player should have put into touch. Result was that their winger broke free whipped in a cross from which they scored. Entirely preventable. Why Tozer was not preferred is beyond me. Their second goal on 39 mins was like the parting of the red sea - after you Claude and thanks goal no 2.
On this showing we need somebody who can score, a competent midfielder and maybe a right back although Tozer is more use than present incumbent. Not happy with that display!

4 points from 3 games, that would equate to 61 points over the season (9th place based on last seasons table). It's probably a fair reflection of where this team is but with a creative midfielder and another striker we won't be far off from being a play off outfit.

Sounds like the right back Alfei has had a bit of a stinker so far this season. Tozer can't be too far away from a recall to the side.

I actually thought the ball did go out for a throw in before the first goal

I did flinch a nerve at first as I thought ball may have gone out of play. Unfortunately from where I sat it didnt quite go over the line - completely.

With all the chat about not scring or not scoring enough, I will not suprise anyone on here when I say I thought, ( only hesrd it on thr radio though) that I thought we were to attacking and we should have played a defencive game, trying to catch then on the counter attack. Poirsmouth will go up, I would say Champions, not many sides will live with them. alfie sounded awfull.

it was certainly tight. Unfortunately the linesman's view was blocked so he couldn't really give it out. No-one complained so I guess you are right.

Ravenhill is the player that frustrates me most. He's the poor mans Guttridge without a doubt.

didn't realize he was playing Shocked

Was really impressed with JJT - some intelligent, committed football, as with Hackett's brief apperance. Pompey with that calibre of performance will surely be champions elect sooner rather than later.

Agree with the above about Ravenhill, Alfei the weak link (that's being polite!) and K Mohamed needs to sort things out...downhill since opening day.

From where I was the ball was not out and their player showed more determination. I'm sure if it had been the other way round the ref would have been strong enough to have still given the correct decision and not be influenced by the crowd.
