Everything's right in hindsight but I cant help thinking that the defence could have done with Tozer's no nonsense hard work today - and those throw bombs!
Spot on - most of us know that he isn't the greatest full back but for consistency over a few games is worth having at the moment. I would also chuck Ravenhill on pronto - when is Horwood fit again??

Same here. The Leicester kid is great but with the make up of a very attack minded midfield 4, doesn't offer the protection needed at the start of games.

When Bungle mentioned McSweeney he was available , he isn't now. Letting him go was a mistake.

Agree that the full back slots are our weakness.
I still think Ravenhill's old head coupled with his ability to get stuck in to the niggle and grind of league 2 football would be good for the team on days like today.

Everything is easy to say this evening in hindsight but let's not forget that we won 5-1 midweek and comfortably. Some of the football was sensational and had cw changed any of the personnel this afternoon and we'd lost people would have been screaming 'why did you change the team from Tuesday you tw@t'!
However I do feel the 2 lads in the middle are not necessarily suited to battling. On Tuesday early in the game they struggled to close down quickly and did leave gaps. Thankfully H'pool were piss poor and when the game opened up they can certainly pick a pass. I'm not entirely sure that we can accommodate both Byron and Watson in the middle. It need rr to come in to provide some steel. Also agree with Tozer as he is simply a better defender and adds an extra option with the long throw when we want to be more direct.
Other than that, yes, poor defending, poor result, new manager syndrome, complacency etc. we'll bounce back and I'm sure get stronger. You can be absolutely sure that cw and ak will be spending hours on defending this week and don't be surprised if the team keeps a clean sheet next week in a more back to basics at the back. The only positive is that the team can and will score goals. If we can sort the back 4 and cm positions out I'm sure it'll start falling into place!
