Kevin Smith is an experienced commercial professional with over 13 years experience in The FA Premier League, The Football League, 1st Class and International Cricket.

His impressive CV includes spells at Bristol City, Birmingham City, Southampton and a period as Business Development Manager at Hampshire Cricket’s Rose Bowl. Most recently he has been acting as a consultant at Northampton Town and he will now join the U’s in a similar consultancy basis to oversee Marketing Strategy.

Shame really.

I was taken aback when I got the #proudtobe email, was shocked that the club seemed to have a strategy

He runs a consultancy business, as with all consultancies his services are not exclusive to one club.

He has not left NTFC.

Essentially he enables lower league clubs to outsource their marketing functions to his business and deliver the same (or better) for less than employing a full time marketing team.

This is shocking news...we take Wilder, but not sure if we'll fully recover from this.
Need to quickly get someone in (maybe Jan transfer window) who can make full use of the #.

Evening all, very flattered to have my own topic on here! Hadn't planned on posting too regularly but I certainly do keep a close eye on what's being discussed.

Will always be happy to put the record straight if needs be. With regards to me and my work with The Cobblers and the OUFC announcement today.  I run a small football marketing business called www.thefootballpeople.com as I felt that my experience in the Prem and Championship might appeal to league 1 & 2 clubs.

I currently split my time between Oxford and Sixfields, working on similar briefs to assist both clubs to reengage with their fan base, communicate professionally and effectively and ultimately increase attendances and improve match day experience.  There is absolutely no conflict of interest with my work as both clubs have different requirements and challenges.

I'm really enjoyingy time at Northampton Town. Everyone within the club wants exactly the same thing, success on and off the field.

Also, quick word, very big fan of the new posters. Are they being distributed around schools and businesses etc? They look very professional.

Kev - cheers for clarification!  In essence suppose what you are saying is smaller clubs like us do not probably need a full time marketing team, but your business fills the gap, hence why you can split your time and expertise.

In terms of increasing attendances - if you can ask Chris Wilder nicely to win 5:1 each week, your job will be easier!

That's it exactly - resource is limited and everyone is already working at capacity.  I help with day to day marketing but also with a longer term strategy and plan so we have a consistency and professionalism to everything we send out.

Thanks for your support of the ProudToBe campaign - I especially enjoyed the "hashtag proud to be" song at dagenham - even if it was tongue in cheek

You're right, a performance and result like Tuesday every week would make everyone's life a but easier. Let's hope for some more of the same tomorrow!

Always happy to discuss ideas - either on email Kevin.smith@ntfc.tv or twitter @kev_a_smith

Cheers, Kev
