I'm starting to get bored of Benji on all the time at the moment. As someone has said he sounds nervous most of the time and him and Tim spend most of pre and post match arguing. The amount of errors with the "research" is also tedious.
As for yesterday having Helen anchor the show was ridiculous. The comments from her before the game admitting it's the first time she had been in sixfields and not knowing what was going on, also her comments to wilder that it's not that bad only lost by a goal shows someone who knows nothing about the subject of the show she is hosting. We conceded five at home against Accrington f#####g Stanley it is that bad. This is why you should never take a girlfriend to the football who knows nothing about it, there's always next week.
Perhaps Helen could return when there is a fixture clash. If she has done traffic reports she could actually use her expertise OUTSIDE the stadium and keep us all informed about how it's not that bad only waiting an hour to leave sixfields lets look at the positives. F##k off.

After yesterday's shambles, It's a pity that Atkins was not part of the show, now that would have been very interesting!

Radio Northampton's coverage has always been good for a club at this level. Tim Oglethorpe is very knowledgeable of the Cobblers although is usually always hyper positive when sometimes a bit of realism is needed. Benji is ok as a back-up but always seems nervous and often forgetful which is not ideal for a radio co-commentator. They haven't really replaced Geoff Doyle as anchor. Graham McKechnie is too Saints orientated. Helen Blaby is not a football reporter by any stretch. She is a competent and well-liked broadcaster in the middle of the day and has her audience but to expect her to take charge of a football programme was probably unfair on her. Jon Wilkinson's return can't come soon enough. Maybe they could ask a couple of fans to be part of the coverage in future?

I thought Helen did ok all things considered. If anything Benjamin came out of it worse, correct me if wrong but I'm sure he said that scoreline would have a big impact on our goal difference? Wilkinson is the natural successor to Doyle but if hes got an opportunity to go on to bigger and better things at 5live then who could blame him. I'm sure I remember Doyle single-handedly covering an away game or too where it was just him anchoring, commentating and interviewing.
Whoever they have covering the games, 1)somebody is going to moan about it on here and 2)accuse them of being pro Saints, but who can blame them if they are considering the saints are premiership champions etc.

Helen Blobby really annoyed me, but I guess that had much to do with the game I had witnessed.
If we'd won 5-1 again, I don't think I would have noticed, and would probably have appreciated her insightful comments and interesting views on the match.
What did irritate me more than what she was actually saying though was her voice. It just sounded smug. Really smug.

Chris Wilder certainly seemed annoyed by her comments.
It sounded weird, but part of me thinks its because she broke away from the normal football clichés which was in a way refreshing.

Hang on, BBC Northampton sent a general news reporter with (clearly) little understanding of football and had the summariser grilling the gaffer post-match?
