We'd probably have lost against Gillingham and Lincoln..

60 points from our remaining 31 games will give us 76 points, which is the rough benchmark for a play-off spot. So we pretty much need 2 points a game from here on in.

Would love to see it but have to say on recent results I want us to get enough points to avoid relegation first.

Apart from us, the sides you sort of expected to be up there, are.

I'll only start thinking about the playoffs if we're 5th by March, until them I'm happy to have no expectations and just enjoy watching a talented young team.
Next year I expect us to win the league by 20 points, though...

funny to think that just a few games ago we had no defence and we were playing Mckay as a loan striker, 2nd from bottom but 2 straight wins and we could possibly looking at the most successful season for The Cobblers in years! And im nt lying. If we snuck ino the play offs and go to wembley and get promotion, couple that with the amazing league cup to the last 16 and of course the win AT Anfield... the futures bright, the futures claret!

I think a few people are getting way ahead of themselves - 4 days ago we were going down and now we're going to Wembley?
Mid-table will be a solid result this year considering the mess we managed to get ourselves in.

Most of these comments are tongue in cheek. I hope they are, anyway!

I wasn't suggesting we are looking towards the play offs now, just pointing out what a s*** league it is, although we all already knew that.

My workmate (The Lincoln fan) gave me his summary of last night:
"Both teams were crap, Lincoln controlled the first half, Cobblers only had one shot which they scored from. Second half Lincoln fell apart which allowed the Cobblers to get on top."
He thinks Lincoln will just avoid relegation and we'll finish within a point or two of them.

In my experience, Lincoln fans are idiots.

No, the way they whinged and whinged about the referee after the game at Sixfields last season (probably the first decent ref we'd had for a while), couldn't wait to attack the Cobblers and our "gameplan" when they were the ones who tried to turn up and clog their way to a point. They just come across as an arrogant, self-righteous, delusional bunch and their hooligan element are complete morons, I believe they attacked a pub in town with tear gas a few years back.

In fairness to him, he's been telling me they're rubbish for weeks, he even stopped going when Sutton was in charge. He is about as biased as the average Cobblers fan.
Having said that, we all see games from our own perspective. How many times do we think "if only that chance had gone in", neatly forgetting that the opponents had hit the bar and post!

A mid table finish is unacceptable and represents failure. I would expect Sammo to be under big pressure if we failed to qualify for the play offs, not least because both he and DC said they were our target this year. Also, people are deluded if they think we will keep the players for long enough for them become a force in this league, half of them are out of contract and DC will sell at the first sniff of any cash.

Mid-table will be a solid result this year considering the mess we managed to get ourselves in. Only the Championship play-off will be played at Wembley this season. Leagues One and Two play-offs will be at Premier League grounds. This was confirmed on Five Live a few weeks ago with the head of the Football League. Wembley is booked for another event over the play-off weekend.
