A Cobblers team featuring some squad players (Jacobs, Hinton, Walker, Slowe, Konstantinou) and trialists and free agents were beaten by Oxford 2-1 today.
Does anybody have any ideas who these trialists and free agents are? Any news on this centre back froma League One club?

Sammo pretty much said that last night, with Hinton on the mend he thought we were pretty much covered at the back now.

Have heard that one of the players is Nathan Eccleston, who missed Liverpool's 4th penalty, allowing Osman to stroke in the winner. Ex-Cobblers loanee Carl Magnay played at centre-half. Both are hoping to win a loan deal at Sixfields.

I'd be very happy with Eccleston if that is true.

I too would be happy with Eccleston but don't let him take penalties

If Wikipedia is to be believed Eccleston has signed a 1 month loan deal. But generally when it comes to this sort of thing, Wikipedia is not to be believed.

I heard through the grape vine that most of the trialists were French speaking.

Ecclestone would be pretty brilliant, and would make that Liverpool victory all the sweeter if we impressed Hodgson enough to let a youngster out. With Tozer back and Hinton returning it looks like the see-saw of squad balance is swinging back towards needing another striker again, rather than another defender.

Magnay suffered the same injury Purcell did back in March so i doubt he'll be one...
Eccleston would be an incredible signing, very pacey and highly thought off at Anfield.

When it comes to signings, I only believe it when they're ITSOTP. In The Shirt, On The Pitch.
