Watched the final three episodes last night, thouroughly enjoyed it, still don't know what it was all about. Were they killed in the original plane crash? Did the island exist? Was the "dream" the continuing lives back in Los Angeles? Did they live full lives on the island and then die?
I don't know. I guess it has to be the best name for a series ever for I truly still am lost.

Everything on the Island did happen. Sawyer, Kate, Claire etc make it off the island on the plane, while Hurley and Ben stay to protect the island until they die.
Still annoyed they never explained what the island actually was, and what would happen if "Locke" had got off the island.
I thought the ending was pretty bad though, the parallel story where the plane never crashed turns out to be some sort of purgotery, where all the people from the island meet up and all head off to heaven tomorrow? Poor finish to the story.

Absolutely brilliant show.
I read this on another forum and it basically sums things up nicely...
Everything that happened on the Island was 'real' and they died when they died in the show. So, for example, Boone died from the fall in the plane, Anna Lucia died from being shot, Locke died from being strangled by Ben, Juliet died from her injuries after the bomb blast, Sayid died in the bomb blast in the sub, Sun and Jin died in the sub by drowning, Jjack died from his stab wound
Hurley died some time in the future after years of being the protector. Kate and Sawyer died at some point in the future too
The "flashes" in series 6 were the characters 'souls' living out what would have happened if the plane crash never happened and the island wasnt there but as significant moments passed they remembered what had happened before and realised you cant run away from that time and had actually died, Once they all realised this and met up in the Church they could all move on...

For me this was one of the best shows on tv, as Power has said what happened happened and the plane did crash and they all died at separate points some long before Jack Finally died and some long after Jack died.

Still lots of questions though aren't there? Actually they have probably been answered and I was too thick to get it Why were Michael and Walt not in the church at the end? What was the Darma project all about? Who the hell was Wigmore? Etc etc etc...........

Ok, i'll give it a go.... When Michael died he didn't move on, he remained as a ghost trapped on the island. The Dharma guys were just a bunch of scientists who tried to hone the islands magical properties, they eventually overstayed their welcome and were disposed of by the Others. Widmore, was a previous leader of the Others before Ben dispossed of him and exiled him from the island. He then spent all his time and resources to try and get back. Once he did, Ben shot him out of revenge for killing his daughter... All explained at various points in the last series... Hope this helps...

There's a few unanswered questions or rather just "What were you on about?" things like why was such a massive deal made about Waly being "special"? That was all just forgotten about

Yep, the whole Walt story was the one main thing that wasn't answered adequately for me.
Apparently the actor that played him grow up so quickly that they felt they couldn't include him in the later series.
When Locke visited him in the city, there was a scene were he made it clear that his life had moved on from the island and he didn't want to go back. Was such a weak ending for his charecter when they made such a big song and dance about him in the first two series...
