and what happens then when 7 of them are long term injured?
You blood your own youngsters, rather than doing the dirty work for other clubs.

You reckon we've got seven youngsters ready to not only play for the first team but form the majority of it?

I can't think of a quicker way of getting us into the Conference.

I would love our youngster to come through and form a winning team.
However I'd rather watch a winning team made up of anyone who could do the job even P!sh rejects like Langmead.

We'll never know, cos our club will never give them the opportunity.

Well apart from Hornby and Toney that is. I'm sure the club refuse to play the youngsters deliberately to p us off and players are not picked on ability.

I think thats bollocks, you have toney in the team now, Hornby was given his chance, as has Moyo who I'm sure is destined for more. Jacobs and Bunn also came through and isn't there a young full back that appeared pre-season. There was also Courtney Herbert plucked from the local football scene and others that never quite made it. I reckon we give as much chance to our youngsters as any other side do with the possible exception of those strapped for cash who have no other option but to play their youth.

Yeah, but all that doesn't fit the pre-conceived narrative that we're the worst run football club in the country though?

The problem has nothing to do with blooding youngsters. In fact, I'd argue that the relative success of our youth system has been one of the few bright spots in the last 5 years.

The problem comes when established permanent professionals on decent wages (Duke, Carter, Ravenhill, O'Toole etc) are supplanted by loanees (Archer, Byrom etc) who in the final analysis add very little and ultimately detract from the stability, consistency and identity of the squad. Injuries have obviously been an issue, but the four players I've listed above have been fit for the vast majority of the season only to see their places taken by inferior loanees.

I hope Ollie Banks is a success, I really do. But we need a settled side with a genuine sense of identity. The last time we had that was the Boothroyd play-off final team who had a spirit and a togetherness which made them much more than the sum of their limited parts. The excellent Lee Nicholls apart, I don't remember too many loanees playing for us that season.

This could turn out to be a good move for both club and player, let's hope so anyway.

Top post and summarises my current frustration - call me short termist but for me far more relevant than discussion on extra seats......

I would love the loan system to be totally overhauled.

Make the minimum loan length 1 transfer window, with a max of 3 players on loan at any one club at any one time.

Of something.

At least we now have a player with the same name as my dog (not Banks): that's about the most interesting thing about the endlessly revolving loan door for me - but let's hope he's a revelation.

Well, whatever, I know I'm fed up of it, and it pisses me off to see youngsters from other clubs getting opportunities ahead of our own. We had countless loan strikers last season playing ahead of Moyo and Toney, we have a 5th choice spurs keeper playing ahead of Snedker,  the list goes on. We've had so much tripe on loan from the top 2 divisions it's beyond a joke. Remember that lad Nick Wright (I think) from Birmingham, i'm pretty sure a 12year old from the "centre of excellence" would've been of more use.
I for one am sick and tired of it. Especially after Wilders comments shortly after talking over. Hypocrite.

Spot on. The club must've had over 50 loan players in the last 5 seasons.
