I will, and I'm sure other board, would be happy to attend any meeting that anyone wants to set up as long as we have no prior commitments. We can discuss anything you want and we'll give you a honest answer but we don't have the answer to everything! But we are open to all constructive suggestions and if you don't like the way things are being run YOU can change it, we are the only100% democratic supporters group at NTFC. We are also quite happy for people to attend Trust board meetings but they do have to be Trust members.
Thank you for the offer of a meeting , I'm not too keen on meeting anyone who candidly feels so negatively about my views and at this stage and i do not wish to join your trust in its current form as it quite clearly does not represent my concern. I do take the comment by yourself as a sign of progress and a change in tac even from the beginning of this thread so I will disagree to those that suggested this thread was reduced to petit squabbles , it would appear some good has come of it. So I take your offer seriously and I will watch with a keen eye to see if the trust comes any nearer to working towards answering my concerns and sincerely hope that can happen sooner rather than later.

Go on, meet him. Bring him around to your way of thinking with charm and wit and good old fashioned common sense.,

I get the impression that Bill is unwilling to meet with anyone who maybe reluctant to share his views. Seems like an opt out to me!
Its not the trusts job to judge supporters concerns is it? IMO they should absorb all concerns and react with a common consensus . My main concern is the development which talking to local people, supporters of the club and reading this website does not seem too radical . You disagree?

What was hopefully going to be a constructive debate about the future of the Trust has degenerated into some middle-aged market jeans fish slapping Monty Python sketch. What little respect I had for the Trust has now gone. Pathetic.

There are plenty of ways they can be more proactive. I can't remember the last time I saw a trust membership form.
Simple things like getting the club to give them their database so they can do a e-marketing campaign and having online joining with PayPal payment options is another way.
I've been critical of the trust but I think now is the time to get fans together for the good of the club. I'm going to go along to the next meeting to see what we can do.
I think you've already come up with some great ideas. I always remember wondering why they had no automatic annual renewal method when my membership lapsed. I'm sure when I joined initially it was with a form provided with my season ticket renewal form. Let's face it when you are spending £350 or whatever on a season ticket another £5 is nothing. As long as you also sell the benefits whatever they may be. In addition reasonably regular communication then keeps you informed and feeling like you are getting something for your money. I don't know if they offer this but would there be any benefit in offering a junior/family membership where the kids can feel they are part of a supporters club and receive some small gifts alongside their membership. Get some people profiles up about the trust committee and let us know what they all do. Sell the benefits of being a trust member whatever they may be. Have some short term goals of what they are trying to achieve. What are they currently raising money for and why? Could they not have some suitable advertising on their website to help fund it? Honestly I have no idea whether having a representative on the board is beneficial any longer. I assume they hold no real power other than a voice. Personally if I was the rep on the board I would want to be going in there knowing I represent the large majority of the support base and am acting as their voice. That's where your power comes from. You can ask difficult questions and be a challenging presence without falling out with people. Is the trust achieving things by having this role that they could not achieve without? I know it's probably the least realistic but perhaps a long term aim should be to increase the shareholding to a point where you really can have an effect.

As I've said before we are always up for idea's. Iest_ntfc and MC Hammer have some good one and we'll gladly meet with anyone who has anything constructive to bring to the table. An informal meeting can be set up or, as I've said before, people are welcome to attend our board meetings, but to do that they do have to be Trust members

Well done Hammer for getting this thread back on track - especially after the post from Aunty C above.

I'm only trying to be "conciliatory" You see,and you try and be pleasant .... Roughly translated my post reads that I have absolutely no desire to spend any of my Boxing Day attempting to help some proxy futile organisation. Read back through this thread and you will realise that most have little or no faith in the trust which is only compounded by some geezer who has an attitude problem. Do you know, I thought it was quite funny having with the face of the trust dong a Basil Fawlty impression but its actually quite serious, the club is a mess and the trust is part of the sham. Look at your membership, look at your website, look at the trusts recent achievements, look at the disgruntled supporters , look a the club then look in the mirror.

The trust was a great thing when it was set up and did a lot of good but it has become diluted to the point of irrelevance; it just feels like a little club for a small group of people who like to feel like they are involved in things. I may be wrong but the complete lack of ANY visibility of the trust or their activities doesn't do anything to dispel that perception. I've never had a great deal of time for Tony Clarke but at least when he was the trust rep you saw and heard from him on a regular basis. The same goes for Ant Collett. Whoever the rep (or reps?) have been since them I couldn't tell you. I might sit next to them some matches and I wouldn't know it.
The slightly prissy response from trust members on here every time they get questioned doesn't help with the perception of them being a clique either, to be honest.

I presume the last line is aimed at me, but honestly, I do try to post with a bit of humour. That said, I'm old enough not to take cr*p off people who think its fair game to have a dig at everything the Trust try to do and telling me how should spend my own time, constructive criticism of the Trust is welcomed, unjust personal criticism will get the response it deserves. This perception of the Trust being " a clique" is way off the mark, as I've said before, anyone is welcome to attend any of our board meetings as long as they are Trust members and we have also offered, in this thread, to attend any other meetings. The Trust is 100% democratic, if the members don't like anything they can change it We are aware that our web site is not up to standard but, hopefully, it's being re designed and updated in the near future, a bit like the East Stand ! but quicker !

Maybe so but some of the negative remarks on here about the Trust and the inability of some to forgo the comfort of their armchair rather than help out the Trust is reeks of apathy. Some of the excuses coming out on here why people do not wish to be involved are just that mealy mouthed excuses and very few reasons.
