We are clearly in freefall at the moment and the only innovation we've ever seen is Johnson leading the team out from the East Stand. Well, I say innovation, that was more desperation.

We have the best rugby team in the country half a mile away and I think it is time we went cap in hand for some help. Yes, the players and fans are different but we both have the words 'Northampton' and 'football' in our names, with a common desire to win.
If you ever walk past the bottom pitches in July, you will know that a Saints pre-season is absolutely brutal. Their training is full on (you won't see them at Goals  Roll Eyes) but maybe most importantly they have a winning mentality and are far more disciplined than the average footballer. I couldn't see JJOT getting fined for having the wrong colour training top on! They also don't get half of the injuries we do, which is some state of affairs considering how much impact they take.
Anyone who previously played or watched rugby will know it hasn't always been like this. I think Sir Clive Woodward takes most of the credit for that across the sport.

I don't know if any other team has successfully formed a partnership but try some innovation for a change. As the Saints are effectively Man Utd and we are, well the Cobblers, they may not entertain us at all. Even if we had to pay a significant amount for their services it could be money well spent.

There is a saying in sport and business "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." My perception (backed up by the current results) is that a lot of our players are not working hard enough. CW is clearly highly accountable too, so maybe he could learn a thing or two about developing a winning team culture.

I just think it is criminal not to try and tap into and create synergies with a world class set up half a mile down the road. Maybe we have, I don't know.

and just think what we can give them in return.

The Fields are green, the skies are blue,
the river Nene goes flowing through,
the market squares all cobbled stones,
it shakes the old dears to their bones,
a finer town, you'll never see,
a finer town there will never be,
Those city lights don't bother me,
Northampton Saints we're proud to be.

So that's THREE songs they'll be able to sing then.

Daniel Alfei has the potential to develop into an adequate ball boy we could send him to the Gardens too.

We could have a green, gold and black away kit and them a claret and white one and we could sell them in each other's club shops.

Sorry to be pedantic but the original song (before it was watered down by Chinese whispers) serves both claret and green!

Where cowards flee and traitors fear,
I'm proud to be from Northamptonshire.
Where fields are green and the skies are blue.
the River Nene goes winding through.
Our market square with it's cobbled stones
shakes the old dears to their bones.
A finer Town you'll never see,
a finer Town there'll never be.
Big city lights don't bother me,
cos from Northampton I'm proud to be.

Maybe if we give them this song they'll let us share or swap stadiums?

Fair enough. I get to the fridge and don't know why I'm there so it's no surprise (to me) that I don't know the correct words to a song.

Give Saints Sixfields so they can upgrade it to 20,000, we'll take Franklyns Gardens. That way everybody can be happy.

Sadly I think we've missed the boat to share/swap. When they replace the pavilion they'll be playing the big European games there instead of MK. There's no way they'd let us hack up their pitch.
We would never go there anyone as we wouldn't make the millions we do on our catering and non matchday income. It's a pity as we couldn't been tucking into a Frank's burger instead of breaking the top of a hard pie.

 Grin

If the Saints do go marching on, it will only be a matter of time before staying at The Gardens will restrict them and financially they'll be forced to move. We all know how promiscuous clubs with oval balls are, so goodbye Town, hello MK, just like Wasps.

Obvious yet the clubs/Town are too stubborn to see this or find a financial balance. Sell Franklins, and make Sixfields a worthy stadium just like up and down the country, won't happen here. Sadly.
