To Snipe, there are two meanings listed:
1.  to shoot at someone from a hiding place, especially accurately and at long range. "the soldiers in the trench sniped at us"
2.  to make a sly or petty verbal attack.

None of you are capable of being a professional one of the first.
The continued use and quoting of the second meaning is tiresome and once again is leading to many threads being ruined by an unbelievable level of immaturity shown by a number of posters.  This in turn is ruining a site that used to be an enjoyable place to visit and converse about themes including NTFC, sport, general subjects etc....   

All who continue to ruin it are warned to expect unannounced remedial action to be taken, before this site is reduced to an arena  solely occupied by middle aged and more aged people who would be more at home in a kindergarten.
If you are on the receiving end, ignore and continue to post about the relevant/topic.  The spark only feeds on the 'fuel' provided by the response.
The Moderators do not require individuals to highlight publicly those who initiate, there is a perfectly good system of anonymous reporting and we are more than capable of doing so ourselves, as those who have been 'educated' can testify.

This site/board is frequented and read by many 'hundreds', but only a fraction actually post because the majority do not want to be drawn into the infantile 'banter' that has spread across the majority of threads.  This has to change and all have to be encouraged to contribute, not just read.
Banter, argument and sensible disagreement/debate is accepted (and encouraged), name calling and a continual statement of the same/obvious in an infantile/immature manner is not.

If you want to remain on this site adjust your behaviour, if not, carry on. 
If you deserve to be removed either permanently or for a period, you will be, irrespective of your own perceived worth/contribution.
Those currently on final warnings are extant.

Social media wouldn't exist if everyone only wrote what you'd say to someone's face! Of course it is fine to disagree, it'd be a boring world otherwise. It is the goading little one liners without adding anything to the debate, or an opinion which become tiresome.


Anyway, Happy Xmas fellow posters, wishing you and your families a healthy new year. Let's hope things are rosier on and off the field in 2015.

Great post which I think shows the dynamic nature of these exchanges - never totally policed and nor should it be.
 Deepcut's lead is sensible (and I've certainly been guilty of some of the points raised) but with respect some of your fellow mods should also follow the same guidelines.

Whether we like it or not we should abide by the Mods rules. As long as the same rules are applied with some degree of equality then that's fine by me. However some "one liners" for example from Garibaldi, Gibbo and the Marquis are very funny so I hope the Mods will allow some discretion to be played out.

I wondered how long it would take before the Mods had had enough too!! I've had enough and given up posting a while back as it's just the same pathetic individuals scoring points and winding each other up into a frenzy of abuse. Children of the Keyboards I guess....Warriors they are NOT!! It truly is groundhog day on this forum. To be honest I'd lock/delete the redevelopment thread including all the history. I bet their would be enough toys thrown out of prams to supply every kid in Great Ormond St Hospital  Seriously though it's sooo depressing. Kill the thread....It may actually lift some of the gloom. The thread is a dark monster and has become the focal point for everything/one bad about the forum.

Lets cleanse it now and start a fresh. I'm sure the silent majority hold a similar view to mine.

We are trying really hard at the moment, having realised the impact the sniping and squabbling has on contributors. Even I've have had to curb my tendency to provoke people a bit and trawl for a bit of fun 

As we have said. Don't be surprised if some members don't just disappear and certainly some posts are already being deleted without explanation. Control has been grabbed back and we are already starting to see the benefit of that.

If you're deleting posts, how would we know? I mean I don't revisit posts so if I posted something and then you deleted it, I'd never know so how am I supposed to learn from the error of my ways?

If you're going to delete a post for an offence then can't you pm the poster and tell them what you've done and he reason why? Education, education, education.

If you're deleting posts, how would we know? I mean I don't revisit posts so if I posted something and then you deleted it, I'd never know so how am I supposed to learn from the error of my ways?

If you're going to delete a post for an offence then can't you pm the poster and tell them what you've done and he reason why? Education, education, education.

We have not deleted any posts, the ones that he has mentioned have been deleted by the original posters without reason or notification to ourselves.  They probably have had second thoughts of their own.
