A winger wouldn't have been my priority but I guess with K Mo and Hacketts recent form we need one and he sounds like he could be decent.

We needed a right back desperately and anything would be an improvement on what we had in that department!

Assuming RR is on his way then a younger version isn't a bad thing for sure.

So yeah...squad is definitely stronger tonight than it was this morning.

How we will line up is anyone's guess. But it's motivated me for the next couple of games, let's just hope it works out well and backing Wilder pays off. This squad shuffle is Wilders last chance and it 100percent needs to achieve a bounce. 50/50!

I was also very impressed with Holmes in the league game at Pompey earlier in the year, thought he looked full of threat that night. Like others have said not sure a wide player was a priority but welcome and good luck!

Seem like decent enough additions to me considering our poor run of late and certainly an improvement in those positions ,welcome to the cobblers lads.

Was he not up vs Alfei?   I would have looked good that night.

I'm not sure why people are saying a wide player wasn't a priority, Kaid and Hackett are crying out for some competition, it will do the side good to have Holmes involved.

With the other issues we have a wide man would have been bottom of the list, below right back the essential, commanding lederhosen control his area, centre back with a bit of pace, centre back who can pick up their men, balling winning centre mid, creative centre mid and a target man forward all above a wide man ;0)

Not forgetting a decent goalkeeper. We had a Mark Bunn or a Lee Nichols we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.

Ricky Holmes wins the haircut of the month award by a country mile.
What keeps it all upright ?
He certainly has had his moments...
Welcome aboard Ricky.

Whilst I'm a 100% behind any new signing, I Do find it amusing reading how good they are based on their performance against us. We've been flirting with dropping out the football league for quite a while now. Running rings around our defence and midfield is hardly a sound endorsement of any players ability.

True but it would be even more worrying if we signed a player that hadn't been given a kick against us in the last couple of years. I'd be a lot more worried if someone wrote "always liked him was rated at Barnet but Alfei had him in his pocket at FP"

I agree. But we do have a habit of ending other teams dismal runs and allowing their mediocre players shine.

I've said it so many times, a winger is only as good as the full back he is up against. If he's better, he looks fantastic, if he's worse you might as well take him off.

Something I've also preached about a million times.

You can tell after 20 minutes whether they are worth keeping on the pitch...although worth a swap or wings sometimes to see if that works out first.

How true. A certain Graham Felton comes to mind. After 10 minutes you could easily tell whether he was going to a match winner or a passenger.

When I read "right back" and "Yoevil", the first name that came to mind was Alistair Slowe. Do you think we might have sunk low enough to give him a second chance?

Southend fan seems to think we're in for their young midfielder Conor Clifford on a two month loan...

If true, would assume it would be to replace Byrom as his loan is almost up...
