I think his tactics justified themselves in terms of the performance in the second half. Don't understand why the RN interviewer seemed to be of the opinion he had some explaining to do. Going down to a battling 3-2 loss at Sheffield Wednesday is nothing to be ashamed of.

I presume he was asking those questions because the texts they were reading out and (presumably) the ones they hadn't read out had been questioning the team selection and tactics. So he was just asking the questions people wanted answering.

We won the second half 2-1 so that is something to take heart from.

But 2 clumsy penalties have cost us our place in the cup. We need to learn to stop defending like children.

Id wait until you see the second penalty. It was an unbelievable decision. Not a single Wednesday player appealed it.

We were poor in the first half and were deservedly 2 goals down. We gave them far to much space and they exploited it. Players like Morrison were far too good for us. But there were a lot of positives to take out of the second half and we deserved the two goals. A lovely finish by Billy which will hopefully do his confidence the world of good, and a very cheeky free kick by Kev  Grin Hopefully the players will take some confidence out of the second half and take this into next weeks game. If we play like we did, we should hammer Stockport.

We were successful in League Cup games with Jacobs and Thornton creative flair not the negative 4 of Gilligan Osman Wedderburn and Holt who just invite the opposition to attack us from the first whistle.
Hall at left back means we can play a positive midfield of Jacobs Osman Wedderburn and Davis.
Well done to the fans by slagging off Coke!

Dont know why people are blaming Dunn for the first the bloke had a free header which he put into the top corner. The second was when we were getting into the game with Davis making a rash challenge after two of our players had got in each others way trying to intercept the ball. Billys goal was a neat finish after a good build up down the left. We were in with a chance when the ref gave them a second penalty when Rodgers kicked the ball against one of their players who then fell over. Kevs effort would not have been allowed by some refs but anyhow came too late because of the second penalty decision.

.

Overall I think we were a little hard done by, after the initial Wednesday charge we very much in the game and might well have got something out of the game had Holty not ballooned over from six yards

As for Hillsborough I thought it was a s***hole. Only food advertised was pies, hotdogs and crisps, and when I asked for a hotdog they had run out

What's wrong with Davis' brain? After all the fuss about last Saturday's daft lunge at a player in the box the twerp does it again today..the bloke he chopped down wasn't even in a scoring position. At this rate maybe he would be safer out on the left wing. At least he has a shot on him that may bring a goal or two.

We were a disgrace for two-thirds of the game, passing was awful, there was no ambition, and the forwards were an embarrassment. Mercifully we began to play later in the second half, and at 2-1 down it was highly likely we'd equalise and at least bring them to Sixfields. Then that dozy referee totally got it wrong in giving them a penalty, it wasn't even a marginal decision, the ball was so clearly won by Rodgers, his clearance hit the Wednesday player so how can that be a penalty? When the ref sees the video I hope he has the guts to apologise. It wrecked our recovery.

Sorry to hear that Sammo had a bit of a paddy at the radio Npton guys. They are usually pretty timid and respectful towards him

I think deep down it was a case of damaged pride for Sammo, it probably doesnt go down so well when BBC Northampton appear to have more idea how to go about his job than the man himself.

Penalties apart we lost it because we have yet to invest in a couple of decent forwaeds. If we don't we will be relegation candidates all season.

Yeah i heard the interview, Sammo apparently stormed off at the end, somewhat amusing. Smiley

To be honest, Geoff Doyle was just being straight up and asking the questions that needed to be asked, "why did you chose to leave out Kev Thornton" "maybe you could of pushed them further up towards the end" all reasonable questions. - being all diplomatic gets you nowhere!.

Makes a change for Mr Doyle!

If you buy cheap , you will buy twice. I didnt mind early on as sammo identified it as a problem and i would rather wait for a decent foward than end up with another guinan on a two year deal but FFS. Other than mckenzie the choices have been dreadful , it seems like smaller teams with smaller budgets are getting a much higher quality of loany than us.

Thornton's free kick was cheeky and a lot refs would have disallowed it and get the free kick retaken.... I watched the FA cup highlights show and the cameraman missed Kevs goal  Grin

At the end of the day we've taken Sheffield Wednesday close. Their strike force is worth more than our whole squad. We've got 5 winnable games in December and it will be a huge month for us. Get behind Sammo and the boys

December is massive.  An opportunity to start a good run. Lets hope the players take it.

I think we only got that goal because the ref felt guilty about their 2nd pen , possibly one of the worst decisions since  , well , let me think  ,Osmans sending off !
