At the end of the day we've taken Sheffield Wednesday close.

The scoreline might suggest that, but Wednesday should have been out of sight by half time.  In the second half they treated it like a training ground session and almost paid the price.   At least now Sammo can oncentrate on the league...  Roll Eyes

Just watched the goals on Anglia.  Dunn was clearly at fall with the first, that should be a bread and butter catch for a lad as tall as him.  I've defended Dunn through some of his bad patches, but his propensity for also being beaten low in the corners (e.g. Barnet free kick) suggests he's not going to emulate Mark Bunn.

I agree more with Sammo who said the defender(Beckwith?) was to blame for the first goal for loosing Beevers.
I think it is slightly unfair to hope Dunn will be as good as Bunn who was the best keeper I have seen in a Cobblers shirt for the last 45 years. Just because every Stoke keeper wasn't as good as Gordon Banks does not mean they are all poor keepers.

/quote] His defence seem to lack confidence in him imo, which puts extra pressures on them, he seems to be a bit unsure when coming to gather in swinging crosses or corners and perhaps a little stiff getting to low shots, positives being a decent enough shot stopper and facing 1 on 1 situations, still young and learning but the goals conceded column is doing Us and Sammo no favours.

Maybe so but Dunn just isn't good enough right now. Maybe he will be in a few years but so far in his career he must have cost us a goal every 3 or 4 games on average

I agree. I think Dunn has a bright future but we bought in an experienced goalkeeper last year and he was hopeless. The defence are an absolute shambles this season and we're crying out for a leader. You don't win anything with kids lol  Grin

Dunn makes at least 1 mistake every match it seems. Sometimes he gets away with it sometimes he doesn't. I'd say his saves probably even things out over the course of a season but he's not the sort of consistent performer that breeds confidence in a defence.

Anyone know what the free kick was given for that led to KT's goal? Seemed a mystery to everyone at the time. As for the goal, that was fine (and very funny) as long as the ref hadn't said "on my whistle" and then let it go.

Dunn is a conference standard keeper at the moment, in my view, and is no better than the likes of Glynn Thomson who we have had in recent years.

Apparently the free kick was for hand ball outside the box by their keeper Nicky Weaver.

Are you referring to Steele the now Championship keeper playing every week for Middlesborough?

Must be referring to Simon Brown

No way could anybody refer to Jason Steele as hopeless.

I was under the impression that Chris Dunn actually improved and generally showed more confidence once Simon Brown came on board, especially once he took on the coaching duties, unfortunately the offer from Cambridge came along and that was that.

Thanks - that's all I could think of but I guess that's the confusion because I don't think he picked it up at all in that passage of play. Never mind - good quick thinking by KT!

Yeah i think it's fair to say the referee had a mare!, he obviously decided to make amends for the harsh penalty awarded against us - Dean Beckwith also said the same thing in his post match interview.

That said, I was sure the penalty against Rogers was harsh at the time, but I'm much less sure having seen the replay. Anyway, it's history now.

Harsh it may have been but why dive in and make a lunging tackle that gives the ref a decision to make?
