Perhaps when he's fully better, and the East Stand is finished, ( I know) he can be invited down to christen the stand by booting a ball over it. He'll have the full set again then.

Strangely I agree with this sentiment; his family must have suffered a lot. Still admire CC though for what he did for a struggling side.

Defending his actions is impossible on the face of it. However, mental health issues (which he has) are themselves practically impossible to be dealt with by the individual suffering from them whilst in said mental state. Why do people jump under trains, and thus cause network issues for hours on end which effects 1000's of people? Or off motorway bridges? Personally, I cannot understand it BUT I accept for the individual in question (CC in this instance) the voices are justifying it. All very very sad. I hope to God he gets well and makes a full recovery, both physically and more importantly mentally. He's a lovely guy, but he has demons which are very very hard to beat.

I was talking about the innocent driver whose life he could have ruined or even killed

What a self centred toss piece.
No logic behind ruining an innocent bystanders life by jumping in front of his vehicle.
I bet he feels daft now...
If he didn't want to be here anymore he should of knocked my door after the play off final, I would of happily assisted 😬...

The stigma attached to his failed suicide attempt, probably a big reason why he felt he had no where to turn.
Luckily he survived and can get the support he needs.
Hopefully the driver was not to badly effected.

As I've said before Clarke will only get better if he wants to. Looking at his interview today I doubt this is the case unfortunately. I hope to god I am wrong. He seems a long way down a long dark tunnel and things are becoming worse for him in his own mind. There IS help out there if he wants it. Yes he is ill. Yes he has acted like a t I t. He CAN recover from this(in my experience far quicker than you'd ever imagine). To me this situation looks critical and will play out one way or the other very soon. I just hope Clarke has the sense to make the right choices for himself but if not then for the family who obviously love him dearly.

I find it very strange why they have chosen the sun to open up their hearts too considering the abuse they were getting for running the drink drive story shortly after his accident but I suppose money talks. I wish him a speedy recovery mainly for the sake of his children but I'm certainly glad I didn't clap durring the minutes applause.

Very sad that it came to this. A terrible time for him and his family but also (as was said earlier in the thread) the lorry driver who will suffer with memories of that night for many years. Clarke did a tremendous service over the years discussing his mental health problems, making the BBC programme about the issue and saying it is OK for men (particularly young men) to talk about feelings of depression and seek help and counselling. However it didn't mean his own despair went away.

I presume the driver will now be in a position to sue Mr Carlisle for his actions?

Wow! I sincerely hope mental illness doesn't come visit your family with an attitude like that. You showed sympathy at the other end of the scale for Ched Evans... A rapist. I clapped to show my support for a very desperate man and former Cobbler. I hoped everyone involved in the incident would be ok as soon as possible just like everyone else that clapped to show their compassion. CC sounded desperate beyond help in the interview I heard this morning. If I had a God I would pray that he has the strength to get through and recover. Best of luck with your fight CC.

they would have given him the choice of we're doing a story. Collaborate with us and it'll be favourable. Don't and it won't.

Good one Ralph & I agree totally - I will be kind and suggest a couple of comments here are based on ignorance of mental health issues rather than crass stupidity, not withstanding one still cares very much for any innocent victim caught up in this. When you suffer from depression rational thoughts frequenty simply do not register - kind, good people who in health would never dream of inflicting pain and suffering on others, take actions that completely contradict their nature and these acts in themselves because of the phases of depression and guilt deepen the actual spiral of depression.

I know every club has its idiot fans, i think we may have just found our biggest idiot!!!!! The fact you use the phrase 'no logic' to describe his actions shows your total lack of understanding of what severe depression does to the mind. All of Clarke's ability to think rationally, calmly and to consider the effects of his actions on others (from the lorry driver to his own family) would have been destroyed by his illness. As for feeling daft, it’s far more likely he feels shame and guilt which are feelings not conducive to a recovery from such severe depression. I wish Clarke and his family all the best and sincerely hope he makes a complete recovery - I also wish anyone else suffering in the same way all the best and hope they find a way through their problems. Of course (like anyone else) hope the lorry driver can (has) moved on from this, and is not suffering from that days events
