What is unobtainable?

Whilst you point is accurate, on a practical level it serves no point. As no player, not even a professional, can guarantee where the ball will go 100% of the time.

Therefore Richards might well have been aiming for the spot you identified, but couldn't achieve it on this occasion. Unless of course he decided to ignore the 100% theory and risk missing it...

Thus unobtainable... 😁😁

I didn't need to read any further than that.  Grin

Assuming you mean 'Why England Lose'  it's a great book and rubbishes a lot of the myths that are regularly trotted out about football.
There's also 'Inverting the Pyramid' which is a bit more nerdy and goes into the history of tactics. Herbert Chapman gets plenty of credit.

could be, been a few years since I read it. Had a grey cover I think.

Good point and I won't let it happen again.

My favourite bugbear is when a manager or player says something like "I want to what's best for xxxx football club" and says the full name of his club. Just to make sure we don't get confused into thinking he wants to do what's best for some other club.
Understand this.
When Wilder refers in his interviews to "the football club" it always gives me the impression that he is somehow detached from it.
I know its just a figure of speech but he could say
"our football club" as if he's actually a part of it.

Of course he's a part of it. He's so dedicated he is the only person above the age of 4 to own and actually wear an NTFC beanie hat.

I got one. The only trouble is, as I am currently working in London, I keep being accused of being a "f@cking Hammer".
Mine, however, has no bobble.  Cheesy

I said to Auntie before the kick was taken that I feared the worse. I was right. One of these days these misses are going to count.

Probably the same bugger who stole my scarf off of my daughter in Augsburg,

Marvo. Ur stats may well be right but if u look at it realistically to hit the top 3rd of the goal isn't that easy and with penalties having an element of luck aswell the end result would be you on here having a pop when the odd one hits the bar or the keeper saving them because the ball hadn't quite gone high enough and was then classed as perfect height for the keeper to save. Richards stepped up and stuck it down the centre last week in the dying minutes at Mansfield so can only assume he thought the York gk may have looked at that and so went different. You can have all the stats in the world but luck, judgement and the fact that people are human means it's just one of them.

I anticipate a measured reply on this measured comment Evil

If penalty taking was foolproof, there was a sure-fire formula that would ensure it resulted in a goal and there was not a margin for error, we wouldn't have penalties in football in their current form.
