I just caught the tail end of an interview with Sammo on BBC Radio Northampton. I only caught the last few seconds. He was talking about a player. Anyone catch it?

If you dont start putting all rumours (whether you think they are or not) in this thread they will be deleted from now on, no longer merged. Only if its CONFIRMED on ntfc.co.uk can a new thread be started

Why are some of the 'experts' on this site taking so much notice of what other fans think of a player. I would rather back the judgement of professionals we employ at NTFC rather than amateurs playing on a keyboard.
Personally I think if you follow your team then you are qualified to have an opinion about it. Your far more likely to get an honest assessment of a player from the fans than you are from a manager or coach. Anyway if he's our man good luck to him. He has my support and I hope he does well.

Yep Lake confirmed theres no panic regarding Jacobs, which suggests he will sign his contract or be sold for lots and lots!
How can we write of Akinde before we have even signed him?!? Personally i think he sounds like a decent addition....if it is him...
Also how did the rumour arise about us offering Jacobs in a swap deal?!?!? We're told we had a cash bid accepted for this 2nd player....
Also the 3 clubs orgininally linked with Jacobs were Forest, Reading and Coventry.

Gabbiadini, Forrester and Hargreaves in!! That's the sort of news that I would welcome but not these actual players as they are just a little past their best but signings of a similar stature and pedigree.
I remember that announcement day well and was stunned at quality - I never knew who Hargreaves was but he soon became a legend! Love to see him and Jamie here again.

Forrester/Howard was the best strikeforce partnership we've had in the last 20 years. Unfortunately many didn't realise that at the time.....not the Howard bit anyway.

Adcock was a class striker. Barnes was a good player on his day, but thought a lot of himself and didn't really gel with the others in the side at that time. Unfortunately, both got flogged to P*sh for a pittance, because at the time we found ourselves without the proverbial pot.

Strikers need a swagger of arrogance. Barnes and Adcock were a class pair. Can't see us getting Harrad as he'd be swapping like for like but a couple of strikers could make the second half of the campaign very very exciting.

http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football/cobblers/northampton_town_striker_to_hold_contract_talks_1_2290865Published on Wed Jan 12 11:13:34 GMT 2011 THE Cobblers will today hold contract talks at Sixfields with an npower Championship striker as manager Ian Sampson bids to bolster his attacking options. Town have had a five-figure fee accepted for a 21-year-old centre-forward who made his name in non-League football and who has scored goals while on loan elsewhere. It is hoped the deal will be the first of two the club complete during the transfer window, with an offer still on the table for Burton Albion striker Shaun Harrad. But while a wall of silence has been put up by the Brewers, Northampton have been able to do business with a club in the second tier of English football, and will stage negotiations with their transfer target and his agent today. And chairman David Cardoza says the potential new recruit is one that will create plenty of excitement around Sixfields. “I’m reasonably confident we’ll be able to sort something out,” he said. “We’re quite excited about him, we think he’s going to be a player we can develop and we think he’s got a chance of being a very, very good player. “He’s 21 years old and he’s one that hopefully will grow and evolve with the club. “Sammo has had his eye on him for a little while. “We were alerted to him a couple of years back when he was in non-League and we’ve always kept an eye on him. “We have enquired about him on a number of occasions and it’s always been a case of trying to get him on loan. “This time we’re talking about getting him permanently and if we can do that then it will be very exciting.” Cardoza is also maintaining an interest in striker Harrad, but concedes there are other players the club will look at signing if Burton are reluctant to do a deal. “We’ve got a number of different options but out of those, Shaun is our top one,” he said. “If that isn’t going to happen then we’ll move on.” Hopefully, some news later today.....
