Today was my first viewing of the reshaped side, I don't get to see the Cobblers anything like as much as I want to unfortunately.
The balance of the side everyone goes on about was there clear as day - two solid CB's, 2 FB's who love to get forward but don't shirk a tackle, a hard nut in the middle with someone a little more capable in the pass alongside pulling the strings, and the front 3 of Rico, Holmes and D'ath were very impressive. Wilder deserves a lot of credit for what he's stumbled across with this team.
Best way to describe the team is solid with a nice sprinkling of players who can make things happen. They also seem to want to work hard for each other, which is great to see. I really enjoyed the game, and never for one moment did I think we wouldn't win. 3rd goal was a thing of beauty :-)
I almost don't want us to make the playoffs, because with this group of players tied down for a couple of years we could well be looking at a league title next year, with the right depth added to the squad of course. Maybe i'm being too optimistic for a Cobblers fan....
As for York - they are in trouble. If their game plan for the rest of the season is to hoof the ball to Sinclair and hope he does something they are destined for the Conference. He is still utterly useless.
BTW - thought the Holmes song was great!
